Bangers and burgers on a flaming log burner

Wintery chills are setting in but we have been very kindly gifted a portable log burner so here we are enjoying our first cook out with it!

I know that as a Rocket Stove. It’s very fuel efficient. You have to be careful it doesn’t burn food as it gets very hot & it’s hard to regulate the flame. Have fun with it. Try a Kelly Kettle. 😊

If you invest in a small saucepan with a glass lid. You can brown them with the lid off first, then by putting the lid on the pan next will cause the centre to cook quicker. Seasoned campfire at your service.

Good to see you both out and about. The stove is basically a swish 'rocket stove' and the art of using it to cook on is to regulate the heat of the fire as required by feeding the sticks into the firebox gradually. Longer sticks are better as it is easier to feed them into the firebox in a controlled manner or pull the burning tips back out a little if necessary. There is an art to it but practice makes perfect. When you've finished with it, if you have time, just leave the few residual hot embers in the firebox to burn out to fine ash and then it shouldn't take long for the stove body to cool down so it can be stored safely away.

Much easier to just rub two boy-scouts together. Okay, so the fatty bits spit a little, but you get a good fire. In the 1500s, people fires burned for hours! It's like healthy eating - just slice up a vegan. Pretty much grass-fed. Seriously though, a very neat little stove; very neat indeed. With the appropriate base and surround, it could eork well on a narrowboat or even a camper-van. The way you've used it though, is excellent. Might take a while to cool...

Rocket stove 😊. Buying one to help guard against a collapse of our electricity system. Start preparing people. Get a means of cooking with available sources and get a means of generating power. Start growing your own food as much as possible and learn new skills. ✨️ proper preparation and planning prevents a poor performance. Start ASAP ❤

Great to see you two out, an that's what it's all about. The lower door cleans the burn up, as it vents then through the fire door, and adds even more speed! Cast iron helps moderate the intensity, occasionally setting the pan down on a stone slab that way you get to look even more primitive to passes by. Inspired by your Good selves I'm changing the way I shop an cook, despite time constraints I'm aiming to shop local an aroundabouts farm shops, farms an direct to butchers bakers etc, I'm looking forward to the differences an the taste! Cheers.
