My father smoked a pipe filled with with St Bruno pipe tobacco. I hated it from being abut 6 years old, until he died when he was 72, It filled the house with foul smelling bluish fog. My cloths stank all the time. I have never smoked because if it and I'm now 75 .My clothes have not smell of smoke for many years. Each to their own however.

So lovely to see you both again… do miss yr videos… and thrilled my little fairies are still in the van xxx

So nice to see you both out and about. With the combination of the bacon, coffee and pipes - what a way to begin the day. My father, grandfather, great uncle and a few others used to smoke pipes but it was generally St Bruno Ready Rubbed. I’ve got mine too but not used it for a long time now. Sending you my very best wishes to a lovely, true English Couple ❤

An individual blender is great for butter coffee, it will turn it creamy looking as if milk was in it. I have the small battery stick blender also but its not the same taste or appearance to me.

@@the-english-couple have had tinnitus and now hearing loss for many years and it started around when I was your age - if you have had ear infections in the pas that can be a factor... adrenal fatigue from stress can be a big factor. May you nip it in the bud. 🥰

So pleased to see you both back enjoying our beautiful English countryside after hibernating. THANK YOU BOTH.

I've bought seven pipes this weekend, along with pipe smoking paraphernalia (pipe filters, cleaning tools, pipe cleaners, a pipe stand, leather carrying bag). I've, also, bought three tins of tobacco from a local retailer near Birmingham, one tin being 'Peterson DeLuxe Mixture'...I made this choice independantly whilst perusing their website. This tobacco company was formerly, Dunhill, Peterson bought the company in 2018 to keep our heritage going.

Great to see you both out in the van. I am just starting to make beeswax candles i have a lot to learn first. I picked up 4 lovely candle jars 2kg of beeswax and some wicks. What i am learning is beeswax candles are better in jars.

Yes, we have already decided that jars may suit our needs best. We are still waiting on delivery of the wax and wicks but we're looking forward to it all!

I’m not totally keto, but a very low carb diet. Feeling so much better. One day I hope you get to try a slice of my fermented buckwheat bread… or toast even ☺️ Bread was my one weakness. No longer is it a weakness, but a positive benefit. Buckwheat is so easy to grow too. Aaaanyway, I’ll stop waffling on. Thanks for sharing your time in the van ✨🫶🏻✨

@@jlawson1533 We’ve been growing golden Virginia for the last two years and have just got Catterton and Pennsylvania red for this year because we need something with a little bit more strength to blend. The golden Virginia doesn’t seem to grow too big so we’re not sure whether the seeds we got were cross bread with some ornamental tobacco smooth smoking but we mixed it with some pipe tobacco to get a better smoke so this is why we go in the other two varieties as well. As someone quite rightly pointed out it’s all in the curing as it grows like weeds really

Um, it's buried at the bottom of the car boot! I don't think there were many if any knives in there though. I remember noting that when you gave them to me. I will dig the set out though LOVE YOU xxxxx

Not trying to correct you there Julia, packet cigs no longer burn away due to the fact that salt peter is no longer allowed to be put into the tobacco, they stop burning in the ashtray after about 30 seconds.

I haven't bought or smoked packet ciggies in a long time so I'm only going from memory

A friend of mine is a lecturer in mechanical engineering. His pipe is longer than yours. I believe it's known as a Churchwarden. He doesn't smoke though. He keeps it in his jacket pocket, and when necessary, whips it out, holds it by the bowl, and uses it as a teaching aid to point at things inside jet engines and suchlike.

So nice to see you both again. My late father in law smoked a pipe, he had the habit of putting it in his jacket pocket after tapping it out. He was occasionally warned that his pocket was smoking! I see it as having your very own, personal mini bonfire 🙈👋🏻🇬🇧

Nice to see "The English Couple" again; but I can't resist making the observation that, much as a lot of effort has been made in your van conversion; it's really only half a job. My last van started with a full insulation. Gloors, walld, doors and roof. (Makes a huge difference). Then built modular fitted furniture including a double bed which pulls down from the roof. I used to love camping in winter. There's a lot to be said for coming back to a cosy, toasty van... I look forward to some new and fun videos.

Just watched this with my wife and I enjoyed watching you with your pipe. Don't give up on it. There is a trick to packing it so that it draws easily and stays lit. Eventually, you will get it and then you can set it down and do something and it will stay lit waiting for you. But packing it and fiddling with it with your packer is part of the charm and relaxing and meditative in itself. I have had many pipe packers but there is a simple one that looks kind of like a nail, with a flat tamper and the other end has a scraper that I liked best. Get a tamper and a pipe lighter that shoots out the side and into the pipe. Otherwise matches can be used too. Sometimes with lighters I got a slight butane taste but it wasn't enough to destroy the flavor. Enjoyed watching your show.

I wouldn't be concerned about making them super interesting. As most of us are still facing a certain level of loneliness after the great divide of 2020, not due to anything within our control, its nice to just 'visit' with a lovely couple.

I'm with you on that one, Richard, steak very very well done, and yes I've sent it back a few times because what the chief thought of as very well done certainly wasn't my idea of same. Same with bacon and roast beef 😀. Great to see you and Julia back out and about in the van, owning a camper van myself, it does the soul good to view new surroundings, every so often. I'm also Carnivore, have been for 7 months and feel SO good. Everything we're told about food is upside down, like so much else. The proper human diet cures most modern ailments. Brings back wonderful memories of my dad smoking 'Cafe Creme' and 'King Edward' cigars, not at the same time of course, whilst I was growing up during the 1970's. He had a Plumb pipe, similar to yours, mom might, still; have it somewhere in her house.@@the-english-couple

Good to see you again. I .ake myown candles out of old used wax. Using a toilet roll centre and ball of string and old saucepan you dont use for food. They work okay. My grandfater smoked pipe and roll ups from 14, was born in 1898 and died in 1976. Even grew hisown tobachco in norfolk.

Grand to see you have taken up the Pipe Richard, try some of the Lakeland blends, (Ennerdale, Bobs Chocolate) Julia might also enjoy those. And a ZIPPO lighter !!. And Bacon. Ground black coffee with a slice of salted butter in the morning is champion, I think the Yanks call it "Bullet-Proof coffee. Thanks for being lovely guys. BTW Lakeland tobaccos tend to use the essence of Geranium. So nice.

That's taken a long time to cook the bacon.....

Just by coincidence we were at Goring Gap today having a lunchtime sandwich on the field road which you probably can't get down because of the height barrier, not so much traffic there.

Have you watched Malcolm Guite ? His channel is all about pipe smoking and reading wonderful books by Tolkien,Elliot etc,I think you’d enjoy it. There’s been a resurgence in pipe smoking recently and some very talented artisan craftsmen making pipes. Goring Gap is just up the road from me,a lovely spot to sit and watch the sea 🌊

A high roof version van is more ideal so you can stand up in it.

We don't have one though BUT we can get under most car park barriers so for that reason we stoop for the short time we need to lol. One day we may get a taller van but for now this one is our home from home.

It was well worth watching to see Julia sitting on her nice, bacon warmed bottom. You never see see anything as wonderful as your channel. Best of all, it's unscripted and so fresh! Thank you;
