@@Zach.Richardson ---"Sky of Soot" you say at 2:00? That was pretty good conditions in wildfire situations, actually, I think it adds a lot of mood to the place, I have lived in this region 20 years, and incidentally, you are NOT going to hear wild animals bellowing or grunting the woods, they do not do that, unless you are within 50 meters of them. Forest Fires have been an inherent part of the natural environment of Western Canada for millenia, although in recent years, probably due to global warming, the forest has been much drier than usual and the situation much worse, especially in August.

So awesome. Your editing is so inspiring. Thank you. You seem to be able to somehow have shots of your family MINUS all the rest of the crowd that’s would be expected at those locations. How? Were you there super early in the morning before people showed up? Usually we would be surrounded by hundreds of others enjoying the same wonders. However, you were able to create beautiful shots as if the parks were there just for you. So awesome.

Hey Moktan, thanks. I didn't use any filters or LUTS. I pretty much just color correct my footage without much grading. I don't like loosing the natural blues and greens of the mountains. These videos were edited on Premiere Pro from Adobe. However, that being said I've since moved on to editing on Final Cut Pro X and most recently to DaVinci Resolve 17. Of the three I've found DaVinci Resolve the most comprehensive and financially feasible option. Adobe is a rip off in my opinion and wasn't worth the monthly fee.
were you able to go walking to all this different lakes or you had to drive to get to them? I'm staying at the Fairmont Chateau and I'm planning on exploring this beautiful place on foot if possible.

Moraine Lake is 10 km from Lake Louise, there used to be a trail connecting them but I think it was de-activated, there are many, many trails around both lakes and the valley 'tween them, but you would have to go overnight to reach Moraine from Louise via the high route, and I am not sure if the Park allows camping in that area, I doubt it. Another rule is everyone must go in a group on some trails, as Grizzly bears are making a comeback in this area and there is more security in a group.
Awesome video! What kind of program do you use to edit and to create the effects between the shots? Thanks and excellent job!
@Zach.Richardson
4 жыл бұрын
Premiere Pro for this video. You can youtube how to make these effects with the transform tool. Orange83 is a good reference for adobe users.
Hi, beautiful video!!! Did you walk from lake moraine to lake Louise?
@Zach.Richardson

We drove. Lake Louise was a zoo when we were there. Didn't film that but be warned it's over the top touristy. Moraine is close by but you can find pockets that feel more secluded.
I really love your editing... quick question what month did you take your trip?

Hi there! could you please tell me which month of the year did you go? thanks in advance :)
We are thinking of going in June next year are the tourist crowds any lighter in June?
@Zach.Richardson
6 жыл бұрын
I would suspect so just based on school schedule and cooler temperatures but I am not 100% certain. You'll have more wet weather which will be nice in terms of keep the air crisp and clear. One thing to consider is that run-off from the glacial melt is what creates the blue refractile colors of the lakes, and as such they are supposed to be at peak turqouise glory mid-summer. I don't know if this will actually make much of a difference between the months of June to August, but that's what we were told by guides during our visit.
your videos are beautifully shot and edited. also the perfect amount of narration 👌🏻. what time did you guys try to get to the Lake? i’m going this July and will be renting a car as well. your videos are a tremendous help with planning!

We got there around 6AM that morning. I'd try and get there a little earlier especially if you're there in July since that will be peak season for tourists.

Shon, I would recommend Lake Maligne in Jasper National Park. It's further north but far less crowded and probably the most beautiful place we visited on our entire trip. You can take a boat ride out to Spirit Island which is just breathtaking! Hope that helps.
Hey Zach, beautiful work. Question - what time of the year did you guys go? Was it June/July? I’m heading there in the last week of May. Hoping the water is cleared of ice and as vibrant blue as this.

June would likely be better than August or September when we went. It was very dry. We had an atypical year because of all the fires. We stayed at an Air BnB and from what our host was telling us, usually August is the best month -- but that also means the busiest. Hope that helps.

The majority of the lakes in Banff - certainly any of the blue hued ones are glacier feed and therefore very cold. I suppose you could since I have seen people swim in water when it's snowing but I wouldn't want to jump in.
You really did all that on only ONE day?!?!?
