"Sahlo" means to enable in Somali. Folina is a name and according to a name website I found, it means this: "Your name of Folina has made you happiest when you are expressing in some creative, artistic way, and not conforming to strict routine" So "Sahlo Folina" means to enable expressive creations. This makes a lot of sense considering the next verse is all about his ability to create the world of Trench. It's also an anagram for All Ohio Fans, which is where TØP is based. Also have heard it as what fans use as a beacon for help.

@@SuffiReax The phrase used by banditos in trench who are in need, to get help from the other banditos who are struggling in the same way as them. To enable happiness/escape. To enable Fluorine (yellow gas). Bishops cannot see/perceive yellow, it is used as protection. This phrase signifies talking to someone about what you are going though, seeking professional help when faced with overwhelming mental health issues. "I created this world, to feel some control. @@theleggend27 I also realized that it's an anagram for "halo of nails" i.e. crown of thorns, in reference to Jesus Christ. In an interview, Tyler said that Sahlo Folina is something that people can call out if they are in need of help. In other words, he is telling us to pray for help to get over our struggles.

The high road/low road thing is actually talking about how he escaped in Nico and the Niners - he had tried to escape before, but he finally took the low road and went underneath to that little path where he met Josh - you were on the right track "Banditos" are the people who are trying to escape Dema - they have the yellow on them - in Jumpsuit they were the people on top of the mountain, in Nico and the Niners they helped Tyler escape, in Levitate they were the group of people at the campfire i think the part about words bouncing off of you may be talking to the fans - like in a concert the words would bounce off them and he needs his fans to be there for him to listen Sahlo Folina he says is what the Banditos cry out when they need help - also if you rearrange the letters it spells "All Ohio Fans" so a lot of people think he made it up as a shout out to their original fans this is one where you need to be deep into the storyline to get most of his references

Honestly the album Trench is made for the fans and anybody else had the same reaction you did of being lost. "Sahlo Folina" is just words that Tyler thought sounded good together but soon materialized into what the banditos sing to each other to inspire each other 😉

You have to be deep into the lore to get this one. Tyler has explained that trench is not the final destination, trench is actually an in-between (like an actual trench). That's why he talks about being between two places: "where we used to bleed (dema) and where our blood needs to be (the destination). Trench is a transitional place we must go through to get to that place. Problem is, Dema is a very hard cycle to break, and he keeps coming back to it because it's what he knows(cut my lip). Sometimes we are comfortable in that dark space because we are afraid of getting better.

This song is a vibe, but if you don’t have knowledge from the Dema website you’ll be lost. Don’t feel bad, I’ve been a fan for years and I don’t even fully understand everything about the Dema Universe that Tyler created. I do know that it’s a cycle where anxiety can pull you from feeling good back to a dark place without warning and you just have to keep battling it when that happens. Sohla Folina is a cry out to others for help in those times.

I'm quite new to Twenty One Pilots, I started listening to their songs in March and I've been obsessed with their music ever since. I think this song grows on you. The first time I listened to it, I didn't really like it that much but now it's one of my favorites. And I do really like the lines "Either way, it helps to hear this words bounce off of you, the softest echo could be enough for me to make it through". It really spoke to me.

This is not my favourite of theirs either, but I actually loved it at the concert. They performed it at the B- stage, so they were much closer to where we were sitting. Tyler was dancing his cute psychedelic moves in the middle of lights coming down from the ceiling. I really felt it, all of us - the Clique, being there for one another. Sahlo Folina 💛

A bandito is a camper in the camp trench (the opposition or dema) a bandito is someone who knows what you're going through and is always there. it's someone that is a survivor for dema. two places, dema a place where we use to bleed (a bad place) and trench, a place our blood needs to be. So what I think about this song when he says “I’m a Bandito” he is talking about Dema and basically in Nico and the Niners when he gets away from them then he’s taking his life back from them when all they want is for him to be called to a neon grave but he’s labeled a bandit for taking his life back from them....I don’t know if that makes sense but that’s how I always thought of it

When he says "This is the sound we make, when in between two places. where we used to bleed and where our blood needs to be" I guess it means that this is the sound (sahlo folina) that we make in trench(when in between 2 places) and (where we used to bleed) means Dema and (where our blood needs to be) is -i guess- the place you go after you escape from dema and also a place where you're completely safe from the bishops that they can't get you anymore (which is not French cuz the bishops were able to catch Tyler from there)

I think that the high road is some kind of metaphor for the fame, like he said in Neon Gravestones, he doesn't just wanna make money from the fame that he has, he wants to leave a message. "I could use streams and extra conversations, I could give up and boost up my reputation" that's what he says in Neon gravestones, and in some kind I think in that song when I heard "the high road"

' “Bandito” is titled after the group of rebels within the world of Trench. This song describes their escape from the city of Dema through tunnels and its representation of leaving behind the negativity that the city symbolizes. However, the word “bandito” is not an invention of the band. A bandito is a bandit, usually of Mexican descent, and has been used in this context since the 16th century. Somber and echoing, song sees the main character, Clancy, finally begin to accept his role as a part of the Banditos and recognize the perils he will face before making the bid for his freedom.' Genius lyrics.

At first it seems complicated but in the end I think it’s rather simple. They use the term bandito but in no way is it as the original word. It resembles the fans, the people who relate & understand and I think it’s Tyler letting us know that he’s just one of us. I take the ‘high road’ line as the simple meaning it’s always had -Tyler could take the high road with his fame & fortune but he’s staying “low” with us- he’s at the heart of it a simple ‘normal’ person that doesn’t really want to embrace all that extra stuff that usually famous people do. I see this in the way he is with his family & friends. He thrives on the simple hearing of his words touching people and ‘bouncing back at him’ if you get to see them in concert, true emotion draws into him and you can see it all over his being. In all I think bandito is just his way of telling us he is one of us. Once again you’ve made it to the end of my comment 😳 and I want you to know that I appreciate you reading & taking the time to respond 😄. I want to say thankyou for your reactions & your insight. I just watched a reaction to Neon Gravestones that annoyed me as the person got it so wrong & put way to much ‘praise to god’ in it. I know you’re Christian & I just want to thank you for not overdoing it 😏. You put it in where relevant but understand that there can be multiple meanings - I appreciate that a lot 😃

Ahh see that is where I got hung up, I was viewing it as its dictionary definition and that is what confused me. But I really like your interpretation of it! I agree with you, you can tell he has different motives when making his music and you can see it on his face when he becomes emotional over certain songs. It is very touching. And thank you so so much for your end remarks :) that means so much to me reading that. It always makes me glad to hear when someone enjoys the videos I put out because I do care about these songs as well as this community that we are building together. I love hearing others perspectives and I love that we can all come together under a common interest, a love for this music or these songs. With how divided the world is today I enjoy finding ways for us to come together again and just be people enjoying music. So thank you again for your comment :)

in an interview tyler said he just chose “sahlo folina” cuz they’re easy to sing. i’m pretty sure he just made it up, connecting to how dema is just a world he created. i’m thinking that “going low” can be like the “higher” and “lower” in nico and the niners, lowering being the underground tunnel that the banditos used to escape dema. the high road can also be an allusion going mainstream, since their last album was a huge hit. i think by saying they’re not taking the high road they mean that they can get on the radio if they wanted to but they choose to dedicate this album to their fans instead

Here's a part of the song i didn't hear you bring up-----""In city (DEMA), I feel my spirit is contained Like neon inside the glass (DEMA USES NEON FOR GRAVESTONES), they form my brain But I recently discovered It's a heatless fire (NEON IS HEATLESS LIKE THE COLDNESS OF DEMA) Like nicknames they give themselves to uninspire (NICKNAMES OF THE RULING BISHOPS) Begin with bullet, now add fire to the proof (?D/K?)
