The best thing for me about this track, was the feeling of joy and happiness from the band, being back on stage in front on the fans. It was so easy to see, that they have waited a long time for this. And WHAT, Miyako smiled a couple of times.

Personally I think many misinterpret Miyako. Look at her solo again. It is not emotionless. It is tons of emotions. Bob said that she at the end shows "look how easy this is". But no, it is a very clear sign that she puts her soul into the playing. It is a kind of stank face, but by Miyako. Look closer - it is very strong if you can see. Not all people have the same mimic. And she is an introvert. But, she loves what she do. She is not the one that looks out in the audience and make contact like Midori. And remember; Midori and Miyako are super best friends, even though they are so different. All members of Lovebites are VERY different. Maybe Miyako and Haruna are most alike. They are both introvert and live for their music and also kind of nerds regarding their equipment and music and pedants, it shall be perfect.

@@rolandkarlsson7072 I believe that Miyako's classical training is still working. When you see her here doing solos and then when she does her solo on the piano, you don't see much difference. Highly concentrated but also knowing what she can do.

This song was written by Miho so it was probably intended as a tribute to her and live introduction to Fami, along with just being a great show opener. I pre-ordered the DVD this video was taken from called Knockin At Heaven's Gate which comes out on August 23!

Absolutely agree Captain. It was definitely an Homage to Miho by Fami. I wonder if it was Fami's idea, or the whole band's. The fact that Midori does the same little dance with Fami during Miyako's solo, as she did with Miho in the previous live video, makes me think Midori had something to do with it. Bless them all.

after graduating from piano department of music high school, miyako entered university of education. the reason miyako doesn't change her expression is because she has a very nervous personality. when she was in a band called 21g, "i love watching movies and chatting.but when it comes to guitar solo, i want to hide behind the amp and play." in the live in tokyo documentary ” before the curtain rises, i'm so nervous that i want to die, but once the curtain rises, that's not the case. asami says it's hard because she's the front woman, but i have a lot of troubles too." before encore, "i'm very nervous today. i had trouble breathing before i played the piano."

This band is up there with any concert experience I have ever had ( Cream, Hendrix, Doors, AC/DC, Metallica, Priest, Deep Purple, etc...). I know the equipment is superior, the venues are better but the skill and musicianship by these ladies is insane. One of best bands ever and this was after a 2 year hiatus. We are back....ladies you never left and the Wolfpack is rewarded with every song you perform. Hopefully 2024 brings tours to North/South America and they will finally get the recognition they deserve. BTW nice reaction and Haruna actually made me feel pity for that poor kit of hers.

I don't know how many times i have seen this performance now, but I feel like they have gotten even better. They were already in the realm of effortlessly playing incredibly fast and complicated riffs and fills. Soon they'll reach telepathic levels lol. Absolutely the best metal band on the planet right now, and quite possible the best band on the planet too. At all positions, they are among the best in the world. Haruna was on fire. Miyako and Midori looked like they could go a few levels above this, if they wanted to put out a bit more effort. Just astonishing. Fami fit right in, and I love the smiles between her and Asami. And Asami's voice sounded even more powerful. Could have been down to the mix, but wow. I have this show's Blu-Ray on preorder and I can't wait for it!

When greatness gets even greater, it's GREAT!!! I loved this song live, from both Five of a Kind and Live from Abyss both in 2020. Three years later, they play this song live again, and in my opinion it's the best live version of this song. For one, love the mix as they moved a little away from the studio quality from their lives, and brought the energy of the live to the forefront. Asami's voice slightly echoed for that live sound, and of course the crowd which Asami controls to perfection. Asami's voice - stronger and more powerful. The 16 second hold at the end is by far the best she did along with Miyako's tapping. Haruna is freaking incredible. She plays fast, incorporates so many fills, uses the cymbals/bells/china, and uses that entire kit of hers. Miyako & Midori were already cemented as my favroite, and dare I say best, dual guitar leads of all-time. Absolutely ridiculous what they do. And then there is Fami, the first time playing live with Lovebites, and she KILLED IT. Her bass playing style I feel is a perfect fit with M & M, and that smile!! Asami's mother to daughter look when Fami soloed always tears up my eyes a bit. Great reaction.

This whole songs is aso beautifully written, which is something I never thought I'd say about a metal song, lol. There so many wonderful gems in there, and it's like I'm noticing something new very time I listen, be it guitars, bass, drums and even vocals. One thing I'm currently obsessed with is that riff Miyako is playing as Midori is going into her solo. It's groovy as hell, and almost has a funk feel to it, the last thing I would have expected, but it fits in so perfectly. It doesn't quite ring out that well in this mix though. It's much clearer on the version off "Love From Abyss". I've listened to over 30 LB songs, and Miyako has risen up to my 2nd favorite songwriter, right after Prince.

There are a lot of guitarists who can play fast, but not all of them can play fast and clean while crafting a memorable solo. This song takes it to the next level in the solos section. Midori starts it off with a nice slow build then kicks it up and kicks up some more. Miyako then follows it and brings it back a notch while keeping the frantic energy going. Then at the end of the song Miyako starts with a slight reprise of her solol and then kicks it up a notch as Awesomi's end scream rises. And all throughout, Haruna and Fami are locked in, and they get a chance to do some cool fills to break up the wall of sound, which adds to the overall dynamics of the song. If I were going to teach a course on how to write a metal song, this one would be in the syllabus.

But it's nice to see them enjoying their stage presence! I will rank Unlucky Morpheus alongside Lovebites, but not in direct comparison as each band plays a different genre. But a listen to Serene Evil by Unlucky Morpheus should convince most that both bands are at the top. I enjoyed how Haruna played during the first part of Midori's solo, using the drums as a melody to accompany Midori.

Just a note. To take nothing away from Fami, but we have yet to hear any original material from her with Lovebites. This bassline was written by Miho.. and played identical to Miho by Fami in this live performance, right down to those Bass Runs (not solos IMO). And Miyako had already written the basslines for Juddgement Day before Fami was selected. I am sure Fami "Fami-ized" them some, but to date, everything we have heard her play has been written by Miho (whom everyone seems to love to slag off as a lesser musician for some damn reason), or Miyako. Can we maybe slow down on anointing Fami the next Jaco Pastorious (the kid only just turned 22 IIRC and as her whole future ahead of her), and maybe start putting some respect back toward Miho, recognizing that not only did she found the band and have the wisdom and humility to tap two guitarists who would far outshine her, but she was also largely responsible for their diverse song variety and styles. And if you don't believe me, just compare the first 3 LPs (Awaking from Abyss, Clockwork Immortality and Electric Pentagram) with their only post Miho album (Judgement Day). The first 3 albums were a mix of old school NWOBHM, Thrash, Power Metal, and even 80s GLAM and Hair Metal/Hard Rock, whereas my one complaint about Judgement Day is it's near monolithic sound aesthetic, which is pretty much Speed/Power Metal on everything but Stand and Deliver. Moreover, we have had many instances of Miho coming forward to shine as the bassist, but you can't have 5 players wanking off all the time or you end up with Dream Theater.. and "songs" that are just everyone taking turns playing solos. I would rather have players who have crazy talent, but put the song first, which so far Lovebites has down. But for Fami to have room to go crazy, that means either Midori or Miyako need to take a breather to make room for it. While I think some interplay where Midori or Miyako play the "straight man" and they mix up who is doing what would be great... we haven't seen it yet.

You are certainly right that she is young and we need to see how things shake out. Miho was incredible and those shoes are hard to fill but I think Fami has a great start with this band.

There are a couple of videos that are different in character, but very enjoyable. One is from Yousei Teikoku from about 8 years back named Astral Dogma. At the beginning I was a bit taken aback by her voice, but during the song it rapidly grew to fit. If interested the link is: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kXmZu9qtccjHiJc.html A second video is more on the contemporary with a slight jazz touch. It is Tears of Tragedy - Epitaph. Quite a lovely voice. Link is kzread.info/dash/bejne/fWFnuaZtddq2idI.html. I had a difficult time deciding between Epitaph or a recent studio video named 時に鏡は嘘をつ. Link for that one is: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZKJ3uNudlq7Tgto.html

@@bobcieslinski Yuosei is more ‘metal’ but the other is in a jazz/rock theme. Both are entertaining.

Akane and Haruna are reportedly fairly good friends. Isn't this a wasted opportunity (to date, anyway)?
