BAMYAN BUDDHAS (Destroyed by the Taliban and now being rebuilt?)

In this Afghanistan travel vlog, we visited the most iconic monument - the Big Buddhas of Bamiyan. These Buddhas were destroyed in 2001 by the Taliban (read more here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhas...) and were part of the UNESCO's restoration programme.

It would have been wonderful to see the original Buddha. The caves in the hills look similar to the ones we find in Bhuvaneshwar

King Ashoka had embraced Buddhism and spread it in India. But after him, A Brahmin king Pushyamitra Shunga came and destroyed 500 Buddhist religious places and killed thousands of Buddhists and announced 100 gold coins award for murdering one Buddhist. Thus Buddhists have to migrated to China, Thailand, Japan, etc. Buddhism once originated in India, now spread outside India. Just google Pushyamitra shunga and read about the genocide he carried out against Buddhists.
