If the vehicle drives better sideways, why not just turn the chair 90 degrees and reconfigure the controller? I've been to maker fairs and EMF (and have presented stuff on both) and they might seem superficially similar but they are definitely not the same, in a maker faire you're not likely to have talks about how someone got all the *public* data out of those rent a scooter apps and oh it's quite a lot actually, or live try it yourself blacksmithing or a talk about materials used on robot-wars/battle-bots robots or have a laser tag game with 3d printed DIY laser game setup, etc. The public is also very different, maker fairs attract more general public while this attracts more makers creatives and hackers. I’m sure James won’t see this, but it has potential for it to be a really flexible wheelchair. Electric wheelchairs have made huge leaps, but they are still limited in manoeuvrability. Imagine in a shop with a normal electric wheelchair try to move to get to the right position to get an item of the shelf. Now imagine this with the added ability to rotate the seat and suddenly things become easier. Yes, there could be issues with stability and the fact it’s very high off the ground but these things maybe could resolved.

I think you could make some cool footage with a camera with a gimbal for stabilization on it. With that camera you might be able to program it to lock on to and follow something.
