    @@zermanman9891 no thats got nothing to do with it imo, if ur not playing hard in practice then your definitely not a hooper. But ppl are too obsessed with basketball these days to even build a solid foundation, e.g. education, money etc. They just wanna go all in, but don't realise that if they're not where they want to be rn, then God has blessed them with other skills and probably make more money doing that than they ever will playing basketball

    This is a super important video! Here's my experience: I started playing basketball back in 2014 (I was 14) And I absolutely loved the game. I was training like 5 hours a day, worked on my shot, got taller, started dunking and eventually made it into a league. I absolutely thought I was going to make it big and that this was my destiny, but then team practices became hard for me, my body was tired, and one time I even collapsed. So I said to myself: I know I love basketball, but do I love it enough to commit and drain my body for it? no. At first this decision was really hard for me, but then I realized I love this game no matter what, I can play this game for fun, It doesn't have to be competitive. So to whoever reads this, there are many things to life besides being a pro basketball player, I'd recommend you to find different things or hobbies that makes you happy. But if you're really serious about basketball, keep balling but be realistic with yourself, your odds of playing in the NBA is less than 0.1%

    I totally agree with you. Sports should be played freely and should bring you happiness, nothing else. Most of the people tend to make basketball their life and when they realize they're not where they want to be, they start to feel depressed. We all know phrases like 'Keep going' or 'The light at the end of the tunnel' or 'Winners do not quit' ecc.. but in reality when something doesn't make you feel good you should take a break from it or quit and try something else. I'm saying this because I lived it myself, I recently quit basketball after 3 years (not professional basketball, low levels just to enjoy playing it) because I was putting too much pressure on myself that I couldn't keep doing it anymore, even at those levels. If a sport makes you feel this way I think you should take a break from it (I'm not talking about a week) and return having an healthy relationship with it. In the mean time you should try another sport/discipline to keep your mind open because if you focus on just one thing you'll never know if you like something else besides of basketball. Especially if you're like me, who didn't play any minute or just a few but kept doing it because I thought I was going to redeem myself. Hard work always give results, the important is how you feel, if it's like a torture then you should pause and question yourself. At the end of the day basketball is a sport like the others and even pro players like Michael Jordan can't play it a lifetime, so focus on the rest instead and when your mindset will be refreshed then you'll know what to do. In life you never stop learning, I feel that with all of this 'hard work mindset' people tend to not see the other side of the coin. I hope this video reaches the right audience and help people who are currently struggling.

    If you truly love the game, remember when you first started... why you picked up that basketball in the first place; simply because you enjoyed it. No matter where this magical sport takes us, you have to be grateful for all its done for us. There is also so much more ways you can be involved in basketball other than being a player. So just simply enjoy it, and when you have a bad day or mindset, remind yourself how far you've come.

    I have a lot of respect for you because of this video! You have explained to many children and teenagers how things are. Many people ruin their lives trying to become professionals. Of course I was like that too. It was really kind of painful when I realized at the age of 16 that there was nothing from the NBA after all. But I want to address one more thing. It's just a game, and that's how it should be viewed, like Monopoly or hide and seek. It's just the ball that went through the hoop or not. It doesn't matter in the end. All of us who failed from basketball (and we should know that there are most of us) should use basketball as recreation in life and entertainment and to maintain our health. Greetings to you

Thats when I realized what was I doing? did it get me anywhere did I really improve Ive been living that life style for fame for the sake of being a starter I realized those people devoted there lifes and I should balance or atleast make it hobby instead of a job cause I was not learning positive things from the sport anymore it was all negative.

Everyone stops playing basketball at some point In their lives whether it's 25, 30 or 40, and when they walk away from the game the only thing that will matter is what did they get out of it? So If it's not adding anything to your life it may be time to reevaluate your life. Cause at the end of the day no one really gives af about how much we love basketball...

    I was worried about being better at basketball before I watch this video, because last year, when I was 16, it's the first time I heard about this game and the first time I had the oportunity to play it on my high school, the team is new and most of my teammates never had play basketball just like me. You might be asking to yourself? how did this dude never meet basketball before? it's quite simple, I live in Brazil, if you want to play basketball to be a pro you better have money. This thing of coach, high school team, college team, it doesn't exist. Most part of public schools don't have a court and when do, it's a futsal court (basically soccer). How all we know, Brazil is soccer/football country. It's hard to me, but I realized it's impossible that I go to NBA or some professional league. I started late playing the sport, I have no money, I live in Brazil, but that's ok bro, I accept it. Ball is not life, especially in my situation. But I'll keep playing basketball, because I love this sport so much and I have fun playing it. I'm growing up and I need of something to do in my life.

  • @TADA13
    @TADA132 ай бұрын

    Dunno if what I'm about to express corroborates or contradicts the point this video is making, but I'll toss in my 2 cents anyways. I had basketball aspirations, as most other hoopers would. I wanted the sport I held so dearly in my heart and put so much time and effort into, pay me back by making money or pay a scholarship or get me to travel out of playing it, in the BIG LEAGUES. Then I had my bubble burst in my early to mid 20s when I met me a shorter non-athelete girlfriend who had bigger hands and longer fingers than I did. Meanwhile, I'm 5"10 AFTER the final growth spurt years and my skinny aah never got more than 63 KGs soaking wet. I had been eating dreaming and living Basketball, but the truth is, *I'll never be a pro baller, I'll never get paid for my passion. It was all for NOTHING* So I went through depression, where I contemplated quitting basketball entirely. Yet BBALL. motivated me to keep fit and eat well. It did ALOT to ease my strains tensions and anxiety, I found myself still wanting to get better, and I hated playing with casuals, so I joined a team that plays in a local league. I could be competitive and since it only happens on weekends, I can still be semi- casual about it throughout the week. That's when I realized I wouldn't want Basketball as a job. As I am now, I didn't go pro, but I can still go as easy or hard as I want to. Barring job stuff, I can probably play MUCH longer than if I was pro and I'd be happier knowing BBall isn't a job, its a source of happiness, enjoyment and socialization.

    Wtf is this, I totally disagree. What’s the purpose with doing anything if you’re just gonna think “I’m not gonna be great anyway so why waste time on it” it’s the journey that matters. U sound like u just gave up on hooping and just hoped to be good. If u wanna be great at anything u gotta be a little delusional. I’m going to be great. I’m not going to be average

    Have a backup plan, have fun and be happy while playing the sport, and don't obsess yourself with it like it's all there is to life, and you can have ofc fun delusions That's my take
