Larian Studios stated that during its opening weekend on Steam alone, BG3 players spent a collective total of 1,225 YEARS playing BG3, with 88 of those being in character creation.

For those who don’t know, Gith are usually space-pirates and raiders. They weren’t trying to save anyone, they just hate mind flayers. That’s why Shadow Heart doesn’t like them. Basically space-Drow. Though there are exceptions, like the Githzerai. They’re the nice ones.

The presentation, production values, gameplay, narrative and cutscenes are just incredible in this game. Certainly the best CRPG since Dragon Age Origins.

There have been other good CRPGs; Pillars of Eternity, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, Tyranny come to mind - but Baldur's Gate 3 is the peak of what a CRPG can be.

Got a bad habit of repeatedly restarting games like this before even finishing Act 1 (something about the allure of planning out a fresh character I think)... Just glad I've got streamers like you to make sure I see the rest of the game at some point! 😂

I got 10 concurrent playthroughs, just to try different races, classes, and choices - all except one are still in Act 1, despite the fact that I started playing on launch day 😆

WHAT!? I simp for Astarion! He has all the charm of Zevran from DAO, the sad trauma filled backstory of Fenris from DA2 and he's just so great! Only downside he's a tad evil and loves a good time at other people's expenses lol. I just find him soooo interesting!!!! Not to mention all the sweet endearments he calls you! Darling, my sweet, lover... GAHHHH!!!!!!! He's kinda like Lestat from the Ann Rice books in a way as well.

Oh, he's way more charming than Zevran, who I didn't like at all in DAO, I'm totally obsessed with Astarion but never saw the appeal of Zevran until you got to know him a little bit. Even then I just felt a little bit more sympathy towards him. I do think I feel quite a bit like I did towards Fenris, like I want to take care of Astarion, too... and trying to impress him at the same time, so I find myself not giving into every single person that asks me to do things for them, which is amazing for a different style of gameplay.

Ahhh yes he reminded me of Zev too! Like a combo of Zev, with his forced to be a killer background, and Dorian with the flamboyance hahaha

01:34:00, she's not being racist, she's being cautious like any other logical character in the game would be. The Githyanki are known to be militaristic and aggressive, often attacking and raiding other planes to take resources, enslave inhabitants, and take slaves. They are feared across the multiverse. Given their reputation and behavior, it would make sense for any character in the game to be wary when interacting with them. It's not about racism, but about pattern recognition based on her knowledge of the Githyanki.

In addition, they are not fighting the mindflayers because they want to save people, they fight them because the gith were once a race fully enslaved to the mindflayers. Funny how they became just like them after their rebellion.

Exactly. If a Githyanki came across you fighting a mind flayer it would just help kill it then more than likely slit your throat.

Unintentionally, but they are protecting the world, in much the same way the Blood War between the Abyss and the Nine Hells protects the Material Plane: because these foes are so occupied fighting each other, mortals experience only occasional assaults by these forces. Otherwise, mortals would be either fighting off the entirety of the Illithid race, all nine of the Hells, or the Abyss itself. Though there is one important distinguishment between those two examples: demons and devils cannot truly die, thus they cannot be wiped out.

I mean, they attacked the ship you were imprisoned on and you were alive and free afterward, though that was relatively coincidental. :P

I'm sure I'm going to be constructing, deconstructing, and respecing my character numerous times. I also have a backlog of characters for Tabletop D&D that have been on my backburner for years that I may use.

We are waiting for a life is strange playlist believe me this game is something else

I'm about to start Act 2 with one of my characters (yes, *one* of them), so I'm excited to see Meg playing Baldur's Gate 3 as well!

You can kill them in 1 turn, if you play your cards right (and get lucky rolls).

Yay, I was hoping to see you play BG3 again, I wasn't sure if the co-op being a work in progress during early access and not working as well as it does now was going to turn you off of the game.

On your 2nd playthough You should try to create yennefer from the witcher 3 😁 😅

It so interesting to see someone who actually like lae’zeal . The gith are a interesting race and seem like hero’s but they aren’t saving anyone on the ship they are just taking it down doesn’t matter who the mind flayers took capture and they even claim to have a cure so why not try to rescue people? Because the gith don’t care for anyone but themselves and sometimes not even other gith they are united in the fact that most giths are self serving,loyal only to their queen, and have intense hatred towards mind flayers

Unless things have changed in new editions, there's also 2 factions - Laezel's people and the Githzerai, who are less fascist and more "we're above the unenlightened peasants" in a monk way

@@JBWinter Githzerai aren't really elitist so much as reclusive, or the only people they think they're explicitly better than are the Githyanki. Their thing is more "We wanted to work out who we were as a people after we escaped enslavement rather than jumping into re-perpetuating the cycle of violence like Gith wanted."
