Hell Mike Evans had two of em smothering him, all he was trying to do was get in good positioning which was not OPI at all. Same for the rest of the Bucs receivers. I seen no push offs at all.

@@Jordanlovemvp No such thing as a PI on a hail mary. It's basically a jump ball in the eyes of the NFL rules so contact is legal for everyone as long as no unnecessary roughness is involved. Reason is offenses would then use the play in regulation to try to draw fouls for easy goal line yardage if it was given the same rules as a regular pass play.

I don't think I've ever seen a Hail Mary pass thrown in bounds that just dropped to the ground without being touched like that before.

He did not look good this game man. Not sure what you were watching. Had a couple decent plays but his arm strength wasn't there and his passes were late. Feels like a game manager these days. I'll give him credit for almost getting them the win and I'm not sure how he got that into the endzone, but you aren't building a title team with him at QB. I wish I saw it differently as I feel bad after the Browns situation, but it seems like he is gonna be the new journeyman Fitzpatrick style.

Thats why Mike Evans will never be great. He dont have that passion and killer mentality. You can show sportsmanship in plenty of other ways. That was literally pass interference. Give #14 a break, he didn’t see the football, because he was busy running to try to get to the end zone. It wasn’t like he was hanging out in the end zone for 5 seconds with his back turned. By the time he got to the end zone, then he looked back, the ball was just arriving. It wasn’t his fault.

The Bills sure know how to make the end of games interesting. Seems like they had this game clinched five different times, but somehow it had to come down to a wild hail mary.

It's funny how they don't want to call PI and affect game-deciding plays like that... And yet by NOT calling it, they're affecting the game-deciding play.

That ball was right on target. In the end zone, in the reach of its intended targets, you can’t throw a better Hail Mary than that. Shame on the catchers.

Reminds me of his deep ball to DPJ against Arizona in 2021. I can remember running laps in my living room even though we were getting destroyed. Man I miss Baker.

I think the main problem here was that Mayfield forgot to yell "1000".

Of course we all point that Godwin could EASILY have made the catch, and that it was quite the great hail mary throw. But what is bizarre is that NOT ONE PLAYER, on either team, was looking at the ball! I don't think I've ever seen that.

I feel bad for Baker here but it does prove he still good enough to be in the league not elite but still better than a lot of starting qbs. I'm an official with over 20 years experience. This was a textbook and easy DPI. What we call a no-brainer. Al Michaels is right. That's defensive pass interference on #20, 47, 43, & 23 of the Bills. #20 was not looking back at the ball, was pushing, interfering with the Bucs receiver chance/opportunity/ability to catch the pass, thus giving him, #20 an advantage on the play, which constitutes a penalty, is the definition of a penalty. #47, 43, & 23 were each holding, which caused the receivers an in-advantage to catch the ball. The defensive players' actions are the reasons the offensive players were separated, drawn from the ball coming down and landing on the field with no one even touching it. The fact no one even touched the ball is a huge sign something was off, amiss, or funky on the play. It's clear evidence and proof the defensive players interfered, gained an advantage on the play. The defensive players were not playing the ball, but instead were playing the offensive players, touching and impeding their ability to make a play on the ball, which is a clear foul. A textbook foul, flag. Rule book says, "Does the play of one player give an advantage to that player? An unfair advantage? In this case it did. It should have been a penalty. The flag should have been thrown by the back judge or the 2 side judges. Each have a different angel and key responsibility. It's a tough play to officiate, but they should have gotten it. That's why they get paid the big bucks. They simply missed it, which we officials do do at times. They arguably decided the outcome of the game by being incompetent in their job. It should have been on untimed down, with the ball placed at the 1-yard line because the foul took place in the end zone. The game should have been extended one play, one un-timed down play. I'm all about getting it right. This time, they didn't. At worse, flags should have been thrown and the play reviewed and discussed. Video replay evidence would have confirmed defensive pass interference. This is the very reason why teams throw a hail mary. To get a possible outcome of a penalty or even a catch. I'm not a fan of either team. I'm completely objective. Who knows what would have been the outcome of the extended, untimed down? But, it should have happened. The game could have ended the same way or it could have not. But get it right and see what happens. That's all teams and coaches ask for.

I just feel that the league doesn't want them making this call unless it is one of their golden child QBs throwing it. They had to have seen it, and then made the decision. A no call like that by multiple officials doesn't just happen.

as a bills fan Mike Evans is a great guy. just lost the game and reaches down to help up the bills defense.

Baker is a legit starter. Idc what you say. This season he's playing rather well despite tampa's record. easily top 16 starter rn and seasons past for sure, and that's saying something given the high talent in qbs

Tampa definitely needs to fix that O line. Teams need to do what the Eagles have done, build two great lines, all else falls into place.

I know you don't wanna have PI calls on last second hail marys, I get that. But man, this one was pretty dang egregious. It's one thing to be bumping and jockeying for position but dudes were taking receivers to the ground after Baker launched that missile. That's a bit much.

If this doesn't perfectly encapsulate the Bucs offense this season then I don't know what does.

I saw a browns game a few years back where the defense was called pass interference on a hail mary on a play just like that with less contact, and of course the browns lost on the very next play.

Lot of commotion when I saw it live, didn’t really think anything was gonna happen as far as a catch…. But maaaaannn, once those replays started it’s wild how no one tried to catch it. Feel bad for Baker, dudes gonna get hounded in the media even though he threw a legit great Hail Mary. Legitimately not his fault. Or hopefully maybe since everyone is talking about it now (like yours truly) they cut him some slack

Bakers a good qb, its just hes only ever had 1 offense to throw to, and Matt Stafford took them back at the end of last year
