Baked Cowboy Dip (Party Appetizer) | Food Wishes
Once you start dipping, you can’t stop. So, don’t stop. It’s a party, Or, at least I hope it’s a party, and not you skipping work, sitting alone in a seedy hotel room, eating an entire bowl all by yourself. Either way, I really hope you give this a try soon. Enjoy!

In case anyone is wondering, the original name is Cowboy Crack dip
1 can Hormel chili. 1 block philly cream cheese. Microwave till hot. Stir. You're welcome...
I'm thinking Mexican chorizo would be a great substitute for the Italian sausage.
I think this this is called cowboy dip, because they eat it in their tent ⛺️ in the movie broke back mountain 🏔️
I would just add this comment, that I would recommend using yellow cheddar cheese for this dish. The flavor will be the same, but the white cheese ends up making a funky, unappetizing pink dip the color of raw chicken. Yellow cheese makes the whole thing look more like a queso dip which people invariably can't wait to eat.
I watch all of Chef John’s videos. But I have to admit I get more excited about them around Thanksgiving and around the Super Bowl! Always great party food a Super Bowl time!
I wrapped my cream cheese up in my electric blanket for a while, my house is too cold to warm up at "room temperature." Upstate NY problems, amiright John?!?
"I wish I knew how to quit you", lol.
"I wish I knew how to quit you" 🤣🤣🤣 I said that to the boursin and Triscuts last night.
This is a dangerous recipe for me... I’m a widowed empty nester and l think l would wind up eating the entire bowl in one sitting! It looks absolutely delicious! Thank you Chef John! ♥️👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Chef John for what it’s worth, both my parents passed within the last 2 years, but I find an immense amount of comfort watching your videos, the dad jokes are folded under a great guide to make phenomenal food, cheers my friend!
So let's get cracking... 😂 You never disappoint, Chef John!
My stepmother-in-law always made this at Thanksgiving & Superbowl times, but she cooked and retained it in a crock pot (which I recommend). It was always talked about & raved over every time..ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!😋
This video made me feel so happy you really put the love in your videos and it shows with each wonderful dish you create for us thank you so much from one chef to another it's TRUE culinary art!!!! Kudos chef John
I grew up with Cowboy Cookies, which were cookies with basically all the cookie fixin’s in them- walnuts, peanuts, macadamia nuts, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, coconut, m&ms, raisins, dried cranberries, etc. I’ve always presumed the cowboy in recipe names were just another way of saying stone soup, everything but the kitchen sink, whatever’s in the fridge, etc. I think I like your explanation better.
You leave me with a smile on my face. And I'm certain I'm not the only one. That is a gift, Chef John. Thank you.
Everything Onion Dip, and now the Baked Cowboy Dip will be staples at the parties!
Thanks for everything, especially your honesty. "...which I always, every time, forget to do" is now my absolute favorite quote from all cooking videos I have ever watched (followed closely by Chef Jean-Pierre's "look look, a child could do this" and your "as always, enjoy." Cheers!
I made this for the Superbowl and my husband was a huge fan. Thank you for the easy-to-make and very yummy addition to our table.
"Let's get crackin"..." Chef John, you are genius and a wordsmith!
