Who needs drugs when you’ve got two mates having great fun fishing and catching multiple Jewies in one session. I’ve been going fishing with a mate up the coast, pumping Nippers and going after Whiting. A bite every cast almost, great fun!!

When I was a kid fishing the Parra in the 60's and 70's if you told someone you caught a jewie they'd call you a liar. Now they're quite common. says a lot about the water quality.

I'm glad to see that the water quality is improving. Such a nice waterway and I haven't caught a small jewie like the size of the first one since earlier this year so it's a good sign

Ok , here she is ! Dinner finished , Tooheys in hand , and me Thursday fishing fix . And all after spending no more than 25mins on the fresh at Parra for 4 good bass , and a dropped one that was easily the heaviest . 🤙🎣

Thanks Alf! We’ve tried a few ideas that flopped so it was good to get rewarded with a hot bite of Jewies! The most insane weather too, that must have turned them on 😎

Awesome vid Shroom! I used live squid for mulloway in the harbour, last bit of the run in and first bit of the run out was the go - Just like Kingies they love them!

nice stuff shroomster, it can vary for each person, I know blokes that fish only lures and can clean up but they probably have more focus and more time than me. I fish mostly bait and I always put a bait line out and use lures while im waiting. I do catch more on bait, but I still get the lures working as they can be successful some days. EDIT, I cheated in one of my videos, live earth worms on a jighead for flicking about , hehehee

My first time using them, I have to agree

I have been flicking lures for kings around the edges a bit, I need a rob with a bit more stopping power, as my 4-8lb isnt quite up for the job. What would you recommend? Maybe something in the Atomic Arrowz or TD Black range?

Depends on the rod, the Atomic arrowz generally have more mellow actions versus the TD Black range. Increasing the rod rating will help in most cases unless you're really intending it to be a bream rod. Out of those two, probably the TD Black will have a bit more backbone

shroom do you have any suggestions for a rod for me to get, I have a Shimano nexave 2500 spin reel and am looking for a rod for it that's for flicking lures and metals of the beach when flat and for estuary fish?

You could probably get a cheap Shimano Catana Ethan which is one of the cheapest rods that would still do the job.

I'm a Shimano guy but Daiwa make nice rods and gear too. Check in different shops and online. I see Daiwa Aird X rods for $85.

Hey MuddyMad, all those ferry wharves harbour jewfish, some better than others and at different times but I reckon choose one that's convenient or that you like going to and start fishing it at different stages of the tide starting with the tide changes. Use squid bait if you really want to catch numbers or stick with livies if you want to get a big one but most sessions are quiet, that's the nature of jewfishing, good luck!

Bro, ... I don't fish with bait, ... Not ever since I discovered lures at age 5….I’m 63 now… Even fresh bait that's frozen… when it thaws… it will smell worse as the day goes on… Another reason is, ... I don't like catching fish that I am not targeting like sharks and bait stealers, .… with that being said, ... I don't smell like bait at the end of the day, ...my wife and kids are very happy about that, ... though they do eat fish regularly.… I’ve caught more fish on lures than bait...

Lure fishing is simply amazing and I can see that! It just feels you can explore more of the world when on foot carrying a few things such as jigheads and lures without being encumbered

OMFG Shroom - now you are shilling for companies....I guess it was inevitable. Please if you are shilling for Ecoflow - the DO AN HONEST MULTI DAY/WEEK REVIEW - and be totally honest, rather than taking money to make a "pro" video for them. Anyone that has a brain can understand LiPO4 battery packs. If you spruik them - please don't debase yourself making BS claims on their performance. Plus the BIGGEST ISSUE with these "all in one" battery/p[ower packs is the cost vs battery/power. So look at the cost of a lithium battery/inverter etc vs this all in one - and the most important things is the size ( Amp Hours in 12V at 12.8/14/4v ) then also the ability of the battery to sustain a high amp out put. then also the number of recharges, the length of recharge, and very important - the maximum solar PV input. So basically - how much Solar Power ( say 500 watts) can the power pack take ( which has MASSIVE IMPLICATIONS) because of how long to take to recharge. The power packs are great if you are in suburbia - but if you need to rely on solar - they can take a day to recharge. Plus also what can they run, and for how long. They always post the absolute best figures - but SHRROM - do some "real" world research/reviews etc to maintain your credibility. There is nothing worse than someone like you turning to a company just because they pay you to make a favorable reviews....do not sell yourself out like so many other YT'ers......
