There used to be a time, many moons ago, when you could pretty much gaurantee you'd be safe to take off when your light turned green. Now you have to take a quick look left and right to make sure some drongo isn't running the red. Trouble is in the 000.001 second it takes you to do that the drongo behind you is leaning on his horn for all he's worth. Also, if you're on a long straight road and you can see someone up ahead is going to pull into your path maybe you should think about easing off the accellerator.

Noticed that quite a few of Scotts subscribers have 'iconic' thingys' on the dash - wonder if it is to quickly scroll through each published Scotty video to easily identify if their clip made the cull. ALSO noted so many, many, MANY of Scotts submissions come from drivers with filthy windscreens... making viewing really onerous.

Why do I, as an American who's never set foot outside the continental US, feel reasonably-confident that I could drive better my first time on Aussie roads than a significant portion of your own drivers? 🤣Oh yeah, because a vast majority of the rules are the same, and are reasonable rules to ensure as much safety as possible for everyone. Plus, I deliver newspapers, so I'm used to driving down the left hand side of the road already. Hi gunmetal as Lex Luther had already explained no that’s incorrect so to clarify the first point there’s no such thing as right of way in Australia. That’s an American law concept has different meanings legally and literally to our laws our laws function on who must give away next point that was not a zip merge again in Australia including Victoria there are two types of merges , a zip merge or a lane and merge and in this case that was a lane and merge with the vehicle in the left lane was in the lane ending had to cross the broken lines and thus must give way to the dash cam car. 9:30 see the dotted lines on the left = not a zipper merge. The left lane was ending and that car needs to "change lanes safely". That was the other drivers responsibility. Maybe I did not make them room but that is not my concern.

The woman made a mistake with her dash cam as a useful object. The reflection of the pink starfish ruins video imagery. I found out that the actual grey plastic dash board interior was being reflected in my dash cam videos in my car so I put a black carpet like dash mat in place on top of the dash board and reflection mostly disappeared in follow up videos that I was reviewing.

That last one looked as if it's 1920s vintage ...

The Focus driver; they were sitting in the right lane, and speeding up while being overtaken. Not only are these fineable offences with demerit points, but that's how road rage incidents start. One day they'll do it to the wrong person, and end up in hospital for a few days.

Both, The yellow car is not overtaking, and so shouldn't be in the right hand lane, The yellow car also speeds up to prevent the UTE from overtaking in the inside lane, So far the yellow car has broken 2 laws (road rules) It is illegal to be in the right lane if you are not overtaking, if the speed is OVER 80 km/h and may be true at a lower speed IF sign posted, It is also illegal to prevent a car from overtaking you by speeding up. So whilst I don't approve of the choices of the UTE driver, I'm giving the award to little yellow Ford Focus (though the colour is called "Tangerine scream")

I don't think so. I think the yellow car was like a former co-worker that would sit in the right because he wasn't comfortable driving in the rain. His argument was that he was less likely to have someone in front of him in the right lane causing spray to block his vision and he was "driving to the conditions" by being under the speed limit, so he wasn't doing anything wrong. Absolute pain getting stuck behind him.

9:19 - Morgs, aren't you supposed to give way to the car merging in front of you with it's indicator on? I was merging behind a car to my right today and the guy behind them (and diagonally back to my right) blocked my zipper merge. I'm pretty sure that's not right.

Hi to explain for you no Morgs does not have to give way , The other car being in front of them and having indicator on is not relevant when you have a merge where the one lane ends and that lane has to cross over the dash lines they must give way regardless of position , what you’re confusing it with is what’s referred to as a zip merge where two lanes form one. Most merges aren’t zipper the car merging has no right to move over unless there’s a gap or some has courtesy let them in if they move and hit someone in front or not they are in the wrong

@@ScottsCarcameras But to point out the elephant in the room: most of the lane-end / merging situations (in Vic at least) are the dotted line type and still 95% of drivers treat them like zip merges. Why? Because traffic flow would be way more dysfunctional than it already is if most drivers behaved like DC driver here. And if DC driver had got involved in a crash, he would not be able to claim in a court that he couldn't have avoided it. Probably it would be best if the rules were changed or if most roads were re-marked for zip merging in line with common practice.

2:49 Our first Fred Astaire (moves in sync with the car beside him) 5:01 ILS DC driver stuffs up the ILS and causes a problem. He took lane 2 out of the intersection and then moved into lane 1 after the intersection - without time to give an adequate left signal. Let me add a defensive traffic tip here. If you are making a right turn and do wish to take the left lane out of the intersection, if there is a car waiting at the slip road I advise you NOT to take the left lane immediately. The reason being that the car in the slip lane might come out and crash into you. To me that is a sensible precaution. 8:55 A snail ILS - extremely annoying.

6:11. SBTF. Ok. I'll bite. First of all, the orange car was totally in the wrong being in the right-hand lane. Period. I am not defending the driver of the orange vehicle. We all (should) know the rule of 'keeping left unless overtaking' when it is either signposted or if the posted speed is 90/km/h or more, which was the case with this road. However: 1. The DC Driver was driving way too fast for the conditions. It is generally accepted that you should drive at least 10km/h slower than the posted speed limit when conditions are unfavourable. The DC driver was driving way above the recommended safe speed for wet conditions. 2. The DC Driver was driving too close to the orange car for the conditions. It is recommended that you should leave at least 5 seconds of distance between you and the vehicle in front of you when conditions are good and that distance should be at least doubled in wet conditions. Clearly, the DC driver is not aware of this recommendation. 3. The DC driver exceeded the speed limit on numerous occasions while trying to overtake the orange vehicle. If you need to exceed the speed limit to overtake someone then you don't need to overtake. It doesn't give you the right to exceed the speed limit, just because you want to overtake someone. 4. The DC driver should have quickly realised the driver of the orange car was being a tool and was purposely preventing them from overtaking. Rather than giving the driver of the orange vehicle the satisfaction of knowing they had prevented them from overtaking, instead of continuing to try and get past them, it would have been far better to take away their enjoyment and sit back and cruise along with the rest of the traffic, instead of getting all worked up, angry and trying to overtake in very unfavourable road conditions. In short, both drivers are at fault. The orange car was wrong and so was the DC driver.

@@D-ij3en123 but there is no requirement to unless there are multiple turn lanes, and even then it depends on the intersection configuration. Otherwise you can turn into any lane, and other drivers need to give way appropriately.

CTP which is for personal injury is compulsory when registering your vehicle, However actual vehicle insurance isn't compulsory..... And yes, a person would be stupid not to have it, Just ask the overseas driver who crashed into my car who will be getting a bill of circa $5000 AUD from MY insurance company (I say circa because it hasn't been repaired yet)

You are mistaken, There is no rule, at least not within NSW that pertains to needing to be in a certain lane after turning, EXCEPT When there are multiple turning lanes. Which is why there is an outer broken line guide, but there isn't an inner broken line guide :-)

When turning right from a single lane turn position, you have right to all lanes upon completing the turn. DC is NOT in the wrong.
