Backforce One Plus Review: German Engineering for your back

Ғылым және технология

Today Jack takes a look at a fantastic new product, the subject of many heated debates - yes, gaming chairs. But take heart, this is no ordinary gaming chair, it is a gaming chair created by a German company - and it is not built in China either. It's certainly not a budget chair, but as we find out today, it might actually justify the high asking price. We investigate. Read more on the KitGuru website here: bit.ly/3tMQe9n

Interstuhl is legit. I've sold thousands of their chairs (Every, Heros, Xantos and Silver chairs) to US-based tech companies, and their offices in both the US and Europe. Seat depth adjustment is super appreciated. The host mentioned a lack of, and desire for, brakes. Is that common in your neck of the woods? I've never seen locking casters on task/meeting chairs, and I've sold tens of thousands in US, and some of Europe (Berlin, London, Paris, Dublin).

Jack seemed to like the braking mechanism's. Not sure it would be a consideration for some of the other Kitguru staff when we talked about it.

brakes were not a want on my list, but my replacement wheels to protect my laminate flooring had them build in. since i moved into my own house. never cared about wheels before because the chairs in the past, were always used on tile floors

Thank you for the detailed and honest review! You don't have to worry about the surfaces, we use high-quality materials, including the PU leather and Alcantara, and have designed the entire chair to last a long time when treated properly. That's why we give a 10-year warranty on the entire chair and not just on the mechanics. Most of our competitors give 2-5 years at most and then only on the mechanics! The castors used are self-braking and we also have different options in the shop, such as gliders for Sim Racers, which provide a more stable stand. By the way: we know about the manual being unclear and are currently revising it. Kind regards

People complain about gaming chairs being unergonomic because they ARE unergonomic. They're basically "cool racing seats!" attached to casters. This chair, however, does appear to have been designed with real ergonomic function in mind. It's clearly not a perfect product, but it gives one hope that gaming chairs may start to move beyond the pure racing seat aesthetic and make an effort to put function on the same level as form when it comes to product design and engineering.

They should ditch the racing seat bucket design and collaborate with reputable office chair brands like Herman Miller, Steelcase and Haworth to create something truly special for the gamers.

I bought a OnePlus chair based on your review and the quality of the product is way better than the chair I have replaced, smacks of excellent build quality like Be Quiet products, nice materials choice so v happy, however I forgot about using the box method, it makes the build a lot easier. Very easy to set up and adjust so far very comfortable. I am pleased with your reccommendation. Please keep up the great content as well..

Guitar playing gamers and racing sim fans do like armrests which can be moved out of the way so plus points for that, now make one with a mesh back a headrest that actually rests your head, lose the racing seat angles and your almost there, still nice to see some competition for Noble and Secret Lab.

This is pretty much double the price of say a Noble gaming chair and i would argue that the "premium" and "ergonomic" features you get dont justify that markup

I am sitting in a gaming chair. It is a pricey Cougar brand, and it is not great. Same issue(s): - headrest kind of dis-functional - leather falling apart after 2 years, even the same-looking armrest is falling apart (and I treat it well, but use it every day for hours on hours) - pushes shoulders forward - doesn't breathe -> next chair is a mesh for sure All-in-all, don't buy a gaming chair. They suck. Buy and ergonomic chair, even for gaming. That said: the fold-down feature is for Sim guys who would use a joystick or shifter or other gadget on the side. Just turning a wheel is an issue with armrests next to you... But for that, a chair should have at least 2-3 wheel-locks as well, so pushing a pedal/rudder doesn't propel you backwards. The only gaming chair I would buy is the Logitech which is essentially a Herman Miller ergonomic chair with some blue bits and a logo added

We would like to note that our chair is an ergonomic gaming chair! We are a German company with over 60 years of experience in ergonomic office chairs, and this know-how is also reflected in our Backforce models. For example, you don't have to worry about the surfaces wearing out after just a few years. We give a 10-year warranty on the entire chair! For sim racers, we have extra gliders in our online shop for a more stable stand! Kind regards

At it's core, this still looks like every other gaming chair to me - Stitching will probably split within a year or two as we see on other "premium" brands such as Noble chair (I speak from experience)... Certain aspects of this look a little bit more re-enforced than other brands but I'm still looking at established office chair models next time instead of any "gaming" focused seating.

I'm not a fan of gaming chairs and I still stand by the fact that they simply can't compete with high end office chairs from top quality brands like Herman Miller, Steelcase and Haworth. However, this has to be the best gaming chair brand I've ever seen. The fact that it comes with adjustments usually only found on high end office chairs, a 10 year warranty and is manufactured in Germany, is damn near impressive.

The ergonomics of all these "gaming" chairs are garbage. They are made by junk marketing companies. They all seem to be based on sole the design principle of "make this look as much like a 90s touring car seat" as possible, for some unknown reason. Save your money and get a Herman Miller, Steelcase or Koenig Neurath. Something actually designed to be sat in, as well as looked at.

Did you even watch this video? its almost like a copied and pasted reply on any gaming review video ive seen on youtube. This chair is actually made by a german company so its not a mass produced chinese garbage chair. Incidentally those herman miller chairs are massively overrated - its just almost a meme now to paste this into any comment. easy way out to get a point over.

In this case the chair is produced by a company that specializes in ergonomic office chairs, so the knowledge and influences can be found in this chair.

I nearly choked on my morning coffee when I saw what they were charging for this fairly standard looking racing bucket. Makes me feel a lot better about the price I paid for my Steelcase! I even added stupid features like a polished aluminium base, so called "4D" armrests and an adjustable headrest and it didn't come out as expensive as this. The gamer chair market is so gross. We all know furniture carries a fairly steep mark up on price, but the features to price ratio on these things is so poor it's shameful.

@@IridiumZero Seems a bit rude to call me a fool. I dont have a Herman Miller, but my friend has, he bought one after reading 40,000 comments on all the chair videos from a select group of people who see 'gaming' and immediately assume, its just 'crap'. Even my friend said he thought the Herman Miller was actually fairly 'average' and he would look at another chair next year. I would imagine if Backforce hadn't put 'gaming' in the name, it would get a lot more credit. I watched Jacks video and thought this chair looked really good and the company put a lot of thought and effort into the design - rather than rebadging some chinese knock off's that frequent the gaming scene. Credit were credit is due I guess. Interstuhl are a good company from Germany who know what they are doing.
