Back to Basics - What Jeep JL Wrangler did We Buy and Why?

For those of you who watched our last video, Where in the Hell Have We Been, it should be of no surprise to you that Cindy and I bought ourselves a brand new Jeep JL Wrangler. Of course, the question that needs to be asked, is what did we buy and why?
Come be a part of our online community at WAYALIFE.com
A BIG THANKS needs to go to Kent over at Peterson Ram Jeep in Nampa, Idaho for helping us out on another great deal. It's a hell of a drive for sure but buying through them is always super easy and always worth it.

WOOOOOO finally a jeeper family that has a two door build! And base model at that. Showing us poor non rubicon guys what we can do with our jeeps. This jeep you got is the true form of jeeping. A blank slate. So excited to watch this. My first jeep was a tj sport. Told my wife she'd have to bury me in it. Raised two kids out that back seat. Had to sell it for chump change. But four years later was able to order specifically for me a green manual two door sport. Only option was the a/c!. Lol keep this up man. Thanks for representing me and others like me

JKU was built for “posers” which is why they have power windows and A/C as standard. Rubicon was built for “posers” with money, it’s a status symbol. You can tell the difference of a “poser” & a REAL Jeep lover buy driving down the road. A “pos er” doesn’t wave and has a 3” spacer lift. A Jeep lover waves and installed their lift on their own with springs and not spacers.

You Sir, I believe, are hitting the "nail on the head". Was just talking to the wife about how we have quit watching most of the channels that started out with Jeeps and trips that people like us, could actually do, and totally relate to. It seems that after they gained sponsorship and fame that leads them to believe they have to go faster, higher, farther for many reasons. While I like watching videos that go places i could never go in my slightly modified 2dr JL, We are going to love watching your adventures in the new firecracker. Appreciate how grounded you two are. Well, I'm not gonna try and tell you that a Rubicon isn't awesome. It comes a sway bar disconnect, a 4:1 transfer case and maybe most importantly, lockers front and rear. That being said, not everyone needs to run the same kind of trails that demand those features and even if they do, you can still do a whole lot with less. It just takes a more experienced driver and a willingness to get strapped from time to time.

Loving Pippi's videos! Even though I've been a long-time Jeeper with CJs, TJs, and now a 2-door JL Sport, I've always kept them pretty stock with just a few mild upgrades. As others have stated, even the most basic bone-stock Jeep is still highly capable and always gets me where I need to go in the Southern NV back country. I believe Pippi's videos apply to the vast majority of Jeep owners, and are far more relevant than the myriad of videos about overbuilt rock crawlers and the like. Nothing against those vehicles though...there's clearly an audience and application for them, and many of those Jeeps are amazing. While I love all your videos, Pippi is what made me subscribe to your channel and I look forward to seeing more of her adventures. Great work and happy Jeepin'!

Man I miss my TJ, the JL is nice but the feel of driving is so different, I miss the mechanical feel of the TJ. Plus the TJ was so easy to work on, water pump in couple of hours a-ok. Super excited I stumbled across your channel. Love the quality and content. But I’m super excited to follow this JL sport basic build. I’ve recently purchased a well loved JKu Sport that’s still bone stock. I’m a huge fan of stock/oem upgrades and I’m looking to do a similar mild build for our our family of 5 to get out and enjoy some light wheeling in South Carolina !! Keep up the great work and can’t wait to see what all is in store for Pippi!!!

You have my 100% attention with this project. I've '20, 2 door sport s 2.0t. It's my daily driver, sometimes work truck that we take light to moderate wheeling/overlanding on the weekends. My plans for upgrades have been simple and chosen to improve it's all around performance without breaking the bank. Quick diconnects, Rubicon take-off suspension, on board air (thanks for the great ARB mount btw), bumper/winch and better tires. I figure that'll get me over 98% of the places a loaded Rubicon could go. Look forward to seeing this journey and what new ideas it may give me.... I already have the border collie for the back as well...
