Babylon 5: In Memory of Jerry Doyle

Ойын-сауық

Jerry Doyle passed away July 27, 2016. He played Michael Garibaldi, chief of security, on the TV series "Babylon 5".
After B5 ended, Doyle turned to politics, mounting an unsuccessful 2000 run for U.S. Congress representing California’s 24th Congressional District. He later turned to talk radio, hosting his syndicated radio talk show, “The Jerry Doyle Show,” on Talk Radio Network. He founded the news website and podcast network EpicTimes in 2013.
John Hudgens was hired by Joe Straczynski to create official Babylon 5 music videos for him to use at science fiction conventions, and later to promote the show to networks. They produced eight video over the run of the series, with a series of memorials for fallen cast members over the years since.
And a repeat of earlier notes to the rest of the B5 cast - we don't want to do another one of these anytime soon, so take care of yourselves, please!

I always thought of them as a Bruce Willis lite. Star but you can't get them for a role so you find these someone who's almost like that person pizza roll? So we can't get Bruce Willis and you're looking for somebody who's like who looks and acts in can pull off the same stuff Willis does Jerry you always seem to be that guy for me I could see him in a lot of the same roles Bruce Willis did

So many lost from this most memorable series, the best Sci-Fi ever produced: Richard Biggs (Dr. Stephen Franklin) 2004 Tim Choate (Zathras) 2004 Andreas Katsulas (G;Kar) 2006 Jeff Conaway (Zack Allen) 2011 Michael O'Hare (Commander Sinclair) 2012 Robin Sachs (Na'Tok) 2013 Jerry Doyle (Garibaldi) 2016 Stephen Furst (Vir Cotto) 2017 Thank you for the memories. “Babylon 5: Objects in Motion (#5.20)” (1998) “We are all the sum of our tears. Too little and the ground is not fertile, and nothing can grow there. Too much, the best of us is washed away. “ “I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in the station when it is quiet, and just listen. After a while, you will hear the echoes of all our conversations, every thought and word we’ve exchanged. Long after we are gone, our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit that the part of me that is going will very much miss the part of you that is staying.” “All my life I have been responsible only for myself. When I risked, I risked alone to avoid making others pay the price for my mistakes. They want me to show them another way. What if I show them the wrong way? What if they come to me not because of the lesson but because of the teacher? I worry, Ta’Lon, that my shadow may become greater than the message.” “But we can’t be free, until we learn to laugh at ourselves. Once you look in the mirror and see just how foolish we can be, laughter is inevitable. And from laughter comes wisdom.” ~G'Kar

Holy crap, I had no idea that many people from B5 had passed away. I just found out about Jerry Dole the other day, but had no idea that Stephen Furst has died. Actually, I thought that Peter Jurasik was dead too. I was so happy to discover I was wrong and then I found out about Jerry, Stephen, and Richard. So tragic.

And imo so was jerry doyle. the man. not the actor. the one scene where its a flash forward of what if? hes battling to save b5 as its being invaded. And he has a gatling plasma cannon. And he says thats what his life was meant for. What he was born for. Taking down loads of shadows. During my darkest days of depression and unemployment. I watched this show. Ever seen a divorced alcoholic struggle with his demons on Star Trek. No Earl Grey tea in Garibaldi's quarters-just a fifth of whiskey hidden behind the sofa. Great snippet from Comic Con. Jerry died loving life. It sounds tragic but is actually the far far best way to go .I'm not sure whats out there over the rim Jerry but i hope its full of sunrises for you.

"To absent friends...in memory still bright." I didn't know Jerry well enough to call him a friend, but I think all the B5 fans thought of Garibaldi as a friend and Garibaldi without Jerry is unthinkable. But please, universe, ENOUGH ALREADY! I am fed up with hearing that the people I knew and who gave life to characters I truly loved have left us. This year has been terrible for all of us losing so many people we've loved one after the other (Bowie, Rickman, et al), but when I look at the poster of the B5 gang and note how many have gone I feel like Vir and G'Kar when G'kar's slices his hand saying: "dead...dead...dead...dead..." Death, you have been working overtime this year. Take a sodding vacation!

Jerry Doyle aka Mr Garibaldi for me one of the characters I admired so much due to his story in the show about losing people due to being an alcoholic in his past and trying each day to overcome it and finally doing so which made him more human than anyone else in my favourite sci fi series. Gone too quick but never forgotten..you are now one with the stars

One of my favorite people. Jerry was a truly good person. I relish the experience of calling his radio show one night and when brought on, I started with, in my best Centauri Accent, " Ahhhh...Mr Doyle. It is good to talk to you, yes? We must get together and have a drink sometime and remember the good times. It is nice to have friends...even for a little while...us it not?" He laughed and complimented me on my accent. As I have a friend in the crew of the series...I was soon known as to which friend of Dragon's I was...the one with the Castle....and we talked a little about the show...and I invited him...to stop by the old place....just as I had Tracy and Peter W....and if I were there...the drinks...and if they wanted...accomidations...were on me. We talked through a commercial break and he got my email and cell number...but nothing ever came if that. Rest well...my friend. You are dearly missed.

i had no idea that Jerry Doyle and I were born on the same day! I spent my 60th birthday in the hospital getting my mind around the idea of having my foot amputqted because of diabetes. I feel pretty shallow, now. Farewell, Jerry! Thank you for time and I hope to see you in the hereafter. God bless your loved ones!

Its finically impossible due to the special effects, and the small market, which at the time were designed for a smaller format than the one that we use today. Yes you can say the same thing for Star Trek, but that series has a huge fan base plus its had a huge cultural influence, there are many one liners from the series that as soon as you say them even if you aren't a fan of the series you know where they are from. Babylon 5 doesn't have that.

Meghan Hause "In Valens name" that's nonsense. It's like saying we can't have a Van Gough museum, because pictures of Disney characters are more popular. B5 is art. ST is sitcom in space.

Michael did a great job writing the character, and Jerry did a superb job of bringing him to life. A kind of every man's man. Not a week goes by that I don't miss his voice, his humor, his invectives, his humanity. And Andreas, and Richard, and Jeff, and Tim Choate.

After a while you will hear the echoes of all of our conversations, every thought and word we’ve exchanged. Long after we are gone, our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains." G'Quan bless your name you will be remembered forever Jerry Doyle
