I don't want to hijack your post but your video took me back to the mid-seventies when I was finishing my medical training in London. I rescued a tiny grey squirrel kit in the street during a rainstorm. He was practically drowning beside a drain, having presumably fallen from a tree. At that time he was still almost hairless. I initially fed him warm milk from an eye dropper and as he recovered and grew over the following weeks, he built a nest in my bookshelves. I named him 'Quirrel' and it was a delight watching him develop. One particularly memorable day was when he discovered the muscle that allows squirrels to spread their front teeth, in order to actually split a nut after piercing it. Then he was off to the races, going through hazelnuts like wildfire. Until that time, he had been patiently gnawing at every one I had given him. He would race around the room using the picture rail like a racetrack, then take a flying leap on to my shoulder. Sadly, after about a year he suddenly developed the signs of distemper and died within a couple of days. He had been a messy flat mate but left me with a lifelong affection for these creatures (plus a few gnawing marks on a couple of my books!).

Roo is the perfect name because in Scottish Gaelic Ruadh (pronounced Ruag - soft g) is reddish brown (ginger!) which some people shorten to Ru (Roo). 😁🐿️👌🏼

That's precious. Every time I see one of these stories, I am completely convinced that the love we show to animals reveals our true humanity and that is the first step to peace in this world.

Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the evil in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love. There is a way for humanity to be restored to where it should Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans . The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us into His image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. We cannot purify ourselves, but Christ lived that perfect sinless, pure life and then allotted it to our "account". That's where our righteousness comes from. Not from any good, works that you or I could do. It is not based on the amount of good works we do. God starts the changes, He carries it on, and He completes it in those who let Him. It's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him, again, through His power and instruction). He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if YOU had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, forgiveness, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way. NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER If you have any questions let me know x

I have always loved squirrels. When I lived in Hollywood Hills in a rustic cabin a squirrel would come and scratch our window from the citrus tree, she came in and ate some seeds and enjoyed her time, if we were at sleep and didnt open she would scream down our chimney to get attention hahah. And once a squirrel had gotten trapped in our air vent without us being able to locate exactly where, and for days this random squirrel would pace outside our windows, our doors, and eventually launched inside the house, I was so surprised at its determination, it ran down our stairs to the bottom floor and stopped outside our bathroom. I immediately understood as we had tried to locate the noice in our air vents, I unscrewed the vent and inside was a dead squirrel, still warm. I was so heart broken that we came that close to rescuing it. I still get sad today, as I think of the mate that looked for his loved one.

I raised them as soon as they were allowed to open a walnut. They had to go back to the wild. It was difficult to they stayed around the yard. We built them a house. They came to visit every once in a while. They brought their family members back. It was an experience I'll never forget

I think in the wild, he'd have the body heat of siblings and possibly mother at least at night and when feeding, so he's imprinted on your smell and wants the security of your body heat and pouch, which is a round, womb like burrough. If you did a soft release, I'm sure he was off sooner or later, but will look in now and then and return with his/her young. This is beautiful footage and story telling! ❤❤❤

You are his mommy and his tree. Of course, he wants to sleep in your hoodie! Your house is Baby Pear's Orphan Squirrel Safehouse :) poor little guy got scared out of his baby wits, he needs all your patience, but it sure looks like you are perfectly situated for soft release as he gets older and wants his OWN tree :)

Be careful with all electrical installations Squirrels love to chew things to keep their teeth in control.

Yes, everything was unplugged or turned off when he was free. I mostly squirrel proofed the house before his arrival anyway!
