By far this is one of the most beautiful warming video that I have seen in my 59 years of life. I was in awe of what red squirrels looked like. This should win an award of such fantastic video and choreography and the heart warming of red squirrels. This is majestic. Absolutely brilliant. I would have wanted to take every one home. But that would not be fair to the squirrels. Oh I hope and pray they stay safe. I know squirrels have lowest percentage of staying alive. God bless these beautiful creatures. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful heart warming video. That I will never ever forget. You are absolutely brilliant ❣️❣️🙏🙏

I cannot express how much I admire the maturity in your video. By maturity I don't only mean the quality of the pictures, the text and narration but also your behaviour. After a while you could have undoubtedly petted those kids, and most of us have definitely tried that, but you could resist. You don't only like and can do this job: you were born to have the respect for nature it requires. I wish you lots of luck and success in it.

Hi, this is correct. Personally I could have the pacience for stay with them daily as she did, but I know I couldn't avoid try to interfere and interact with them more. I understand than they are wild animals and they deserve be free, but... I can no avoid. At last I would build them some secure place and tried all of them survive. On the past I adopted some squirrels ( Richardson one), and I build a place for them on a bedroom. I simply raised them, clean and sit down to observe. They never got pets (this were no my intention), but they know me. You are very professional.

Now that you say this, i realized yes it moved me when she stayed immobile so as not to startle them and watched them silently with a smile without touching them when they were almost in front of her face. What a mature woman, you are right. Even some very good animal lovers would have spoiled these moment trying to pet them but she respected them so well. It was moving.

So funny to see this because I befriended a squirrel in my backyard. While I’ve got 7 or 8 of them I see daily, the one I befriended always hops across my lawn to see me. When I see it, I put up my index finger as to say “wait a minute” while I go off and get a fruit bar for it. When I come back it’s sitting there waiting for me.

That brought tears to my eyes! I am fascinated with red squirrels and have been caring for them for years now. Every spring a new story unfolds with new furless babies arriving at our home in the forest. Last spring I rescued a baby squirrel from a cat's mouth. I was in the kitchen when I caught a glimpse of a white cat with a red squirrel in its mouth. I literally ran out the door in my socks and ran through the forest to catch the cat and I did just that. I rehabilitated the traumatized Feist and was able to set him free after a few weeks. Feist has been living around our house since.

About 10 years ago my youngest daughter and I raised a grey squirrel. When he started hiding food in his enclosure, I would take him outside and put him in the tree next to our house. In the afternoons I would go out, let him jump down on me and put him up for the night. One day he decided it was time to join a little group of squirrels near by. He would come visit from time to time. We enjoyed this little pal.

Dani, a friend went to heaven ...he was walking with Jesus, an approached a mansion with a front porch. On the porch were 2 cats and dogs that looked like this guy's pets he had on earth before they died. Jesus told my friend that they were his pets and would be in heaven waiting for him when he comes back to heaven at the rapture of His believers from earth very soon. Jesus also told him that there is a planet where all animals go when they die on earth... so, Dani, you will see these red squirrels in heaven forever, provide you accept Jesus as your Lord and savior. Hi Jason. I'd love to help you out. I live in an urban area, and I get almost 25 bird species the last I counted. I've also seen NYC folks video-record birds I've never seen. The birds will be concentrated around areas with trees and a lot of places mostly everywhere would have trees. I bet Central Park would have a great deal of wildlife (if you have an eye for it). I amaze people with how many types of wildlife I attract to my yard. I hope this helps you to enjoy what makes me happy.

@@FreshTopEnd You are welcome. Sometimes, all you have to do is just stop and listen, and you'll hear animal sounds. I mention the sounds I hear from animals to my friends, and it takes them time to hear it. It amazes me how nature-deaf (if that is a word) a lot of people are. I also find that I have to keep telling someone that there is a bird at a feeder or in bushes, and people still can't see it. I guess spotting is also an acquired skill. Before I got into nature watching, I wouldn't have recognized a lot of animals if I were to walk into a park. Now I'll go there and notice so many animals and look at the people around me and think that they aren't noticing any wildlife. Glad you are opening your eyes to what's happening around you. I hope you have a camera with a zoom lens and some binoculars too the aid in your enjoyment.

@Guugäl Koonto bc of the spruce monocultures, that cant handle climate change, drought and bark beetle. why should they cut down so many trees instead? Earning money with wood (for many forest rangers and local sawmill) is currently very hard, bc it is worth almost nothing (to much on the market). Imagine letting the bark beetle do its thing... Many forests might just die, and that confronts with the law, that commit the owners of the forest to do sth against such problems. As you can see in the national park Harz... Big areas with dead trees bc humans didnt do anything... Forest has a value, but to protect other regions of total failures, they try to do sth, by cutting out at least 90% of the affected trees.

We raised a squirrel 🐿 when she was abandoned at 5 weeks old. We syringe fed her and cared for her as close as her mother could have. She taught us so much about her. When we knew it was time to release her we happily wanted to give her the life she deserved. She built a nest outside successfully and when we called her name which was Chi Chi she would come running. We would feed her nuts and fresh fruits. She would jump on our shoulder outside and happily eat there. Sometimes she would come and bang on our glass door to let us know she was there. We would open the door and feed her gladfully. She grew so much and had moved her nest a couple of trees down but would always respond to her name. We happily see her running amongst the trees and is doing well through this winter season. Squirrels are amazing and once you have helped raise one you can only look upon them with love and adoration due to their perseverance to survive and yes they build relationships with us as well. She comes to the door knocks and then waits on our swing for us to come out with food and a lot of times just for some fun playtime with her yet she still has a healthy fear of others and will not come near. She only has that relationship with us and I believe it’s because we raised her. My favorite animal to help rehab is a squirrel. Their agility and strength is amazing. Thank you for your love for these babies.

Thank you for this beautiful film documenting your obvious love for our declining wildlife. 20 years ago, we rescyed and raised an orphaned grey squirrel. As a tiny kit, he lived in the breast pocket of my shirt to keep him warm - and he had to be [specialist kitten] milk fed every few hours - this necessitated taking him everywhere with us for awhile - much to the amusement of our family. As he grew, he had a real attachment to us - especially my wife … and he would caché hazelnuts in the hair! He eventually lived in our garden for the rest of his natural life. A real character and a wonderful companion.

I absolutely LOVE this story/documentary about the baby red squirrels you found, how they survived and how they recognised you. I am actually pretty envious of your life. You are living my dream and I think you are super lucky. I am far too old for this now so, here in Australia in June 2023 during a warm (compared to your winter) Southern Hemisphere winter, I am going to binge watch your channel and get my fill that way. It won’t be the same but from glancing at the title of videos (as I was looking for this one on a recommendation on Instagram) I saw many titles that show me you have done many things that I would do if I could. For example buying a small 30k cottage in northern Sweden. My father came from Denmark (and although I’ve never been there or met any of my relatives there) I still feel an affinity for the Scandinavian countries. So, pre-emptively, thank you for having this channel and fixing me endless hours of enjoyment!!! ❤❤❤

It's just so human to underestimate nature. I rescued a baby Red Squirrel, and had to feed her kitten formula from a kitten bottle. She grew fast and strong. We released her into our forest, and she survived a super harsh winter, and was supper happy to be alive and free. My little "Newt".
