Baby Reindeer's Real-Life Martha Speaks Out | This Morning

Ойын-сауық

It’s set to become one of Netflix’s most popular shows of all time and now the real-life Martha from Baby Reindeer claims to have outed herself for an interview being aired on Piers Morgan’s KZread channel tonight where she hopes to ‘set the record straight’. But why are we so obsessed with shows like Baby Reindeer, and why are we so fascinated to track down the real people who inspire the characters? Forensic Psychiatrist Dr Sohom Das joins us to discuss.

    I was stalked by an ex and I went to the police, women's aid, my gp, my work, no one took me seriously, I had to deal with it alone, til a friend helped me escape. I had to block him on everything, change my phone number, block all his friends so he couldnt find my new address. It was awful.

    Same here by a group of women on social media. Over 4 years it's been going on, now this American guy has joined in with them. He's posting on KZread because I blocked him after saying something inappropriate, he went on the attack, threatening he is going to share stuff I told him in complete confidence. I'm having to flee my home of 36 years because of these online narcissistic stalkers and I can only take a suitcase of clothes. These people have caused a lot of damage . Police did nothing despite the evidence I gave them that I was stalked in person. Someone has slipped up tonight, with something he said, in another malicuous KZread video. Two others shared lies and information that this American man gave them. DON'T TRUST ANYONE 😢

    I can relate, and I find it very upsetting to hear conversations that these offenders now need to be protected. Because why? Because they are in denial? No absolutely not. If anything, I think outing this story has made it a bit more comfortable for victims to come out, so all credits for richard gadd in being so open and honest about what a struggle it is to handle a situation like this. If she didn't want to be know, then she shouldnt have come on shows raging about how she is the real life martha. She is more than happy bathing in the attention she craves so dearly.

    @@sofiemarbais371 that last sentence sums them up perfectly. Mine keeps purposefully breaching orders because he can’t get me to react, he literally sees being arrested as a form of attention. He breached the RO to tell me where the police can find him. And I have to report him and give him that “attention” because otherwise he’ll see the lack of arrest as a sign that I want him back in my life. He did the same to his other ex. He’s been arrested something silly like 17 times now. They really don’t care what the attention is for, as long as it’s huge and dramatic and makes them relevant in some way.

    If a man was the stalker then no one would be platforming him like this. This is exactly why men don't come forward when similar things happen to them.

  • @charlieeggy9004
    @charlieeggy900423 күн бұрын

    The fact that there are people who defend a woman who lied blatanly and clearly in the whole interview and allegedly did all these horrible things to someone else and even said she doesn't want Richard to show any proof and not come out with information and proof and they still find a way to defend her and empathize with her and portray her as the poor one and even criticize him and shift the blame to him for many things is really really beyond me, really blows my mind. If that was a man instead of a woman, NOBODY would even THINK for a second about empathizing with him let alone say it out loud, nobody would be defending him or trying to understand him or say that he's being exploited or anything. He'd probably be checked from A to Z very quickly and be locked up even before he would be able to give an interview and completely picked apart on every platform and every chance that people get. There would be a worldwide discussion about toxic masculinity, patriarchy, abusive male behaviour, power structures a d what not, there would be 28 talk shows about it and what else not and everyone would agree that that is absolutely insane and horrible that he did that and nobody would doubt it even a second that he's guilty of what he's being accused, everyone would want him to be checked fully and locked up as fast as possible. But since it's a woman, people suddenly have compassion with her mental state, defend her and portray her as the poor thing that should just be helped and not face consequences for her deeds and behaviour, poor woman. If you watch the interview and just pay attention from beginning to end, you CLEARLY KNOW that she is lying right through the whole thing, she is lying without a doubt, everything about her is telling it clearly. She even calls netflix and the others lyers, then says again they're not lying and then again claim they lie BUT has NO proof herself whatsoever, no arguments whatsoever and DOESN'T want him to show proof or come out anything against her, even though she claims they're lying. She even admitted to many of the things she's being depicted and portrayed as unknowingly and the whole interview is FULL of contradictions, changes in story, change in details, full of lies, full of distractions from her, full of useless information from her to distract, full of proof that she is for sure guilty of something, 100%. And even she chose herself to go to Piers Morgan and speak about it volunteraly and she clearly said she doesn't want him to come out with any kind of proof that he has to prove it's right, she immediately answered with "NO!" When Piers asked her if he should show the proof because she deny everything. So she is clearly, clearly lying and is guilty of at least some, if not all these things. But since a woman is the stalker and a man the victim, who cares, we should just leave her alone right? The double standards and hypocrisy nowadays are absolutely baffling. Sent frum my iPhon

I really appreciate that there were trigger warnings in the series, however, especially since by leaving these parts out of the series would leave the story incomplete. I also enjoyed watching the "Psychology in Seattle"s video series on this, helping bring to light the reality and nuances of difficult situations like Richard experienced. If anyone is interested in that, it is a very enlightening series to watch on Dr. Honda Kirk's channel.
