Not that I've ever done anything like this myself, but I wonder if you couldn't make a mold of the arms and then cast new ones in a material that would take paint better?
Very cool... remember the time they ventured inside the robot which had become enormous some how?

Do you have a video about Nomad, from The Changeling? Something Props makes a perfect replica with all the sound bites isolated... must be expensive.
