Having built a full scale B9 I can really appreciate your time and effort. Excellent build going on..

Can't wait to see more of the progress. For future lighting projects, other modelers use magnet wire that's super thin so you can route it through smaller openings.

ThePaintingClinic I guess it's really thin wire that's used to wrap around an electrical source to create a magnetic field. But it has plastic insulation coating just like the wiring you're using and you don't have to strip it off. Just the heat from the soldering gun will melt it off. Check out TrekWorks youtube channel. He uses it alot.

ThePaintingClinic Magnet wire is sold at Radio Shack. Easy to solder as the protective housing burns off while soldering.

First time i had seen this kit it was finished on display at our hobby shop. I was blown away, wish Robby was done in the larger scale. nice work.

For your next lit model I would suggest using magnet wire. You can get it in a variety of gauges. It works wonderfully, especially in very tight spaces. You can also get it in different colors such as plain (copper), red, green, etc. I use red and green for positive and negative respectively.

I had to review footage of the robot after you said you never noticed the "eyes" lit up. After watching it I saw that they were really brightly lit.

"magnet wire' can be much finer, and covered with a semi flexible varnish (which you scrape off to connect), so it won't short out (as long as you're not bending it back and fourth all the time). Also, check out 1203 LED's. They're MUCH smaller, square, and you could easily fit them between the clear plates. For your flashing lights, Radio Shack has a circuit board which allows you to change the timing on two different circuts (if you can solder, you can follow the instructions and put these boards together). You'll be able to fit LOTS more wires in a MUCH smaller space. (you can also check out 32 ga wire on Amazon.com)

I had been waiting to see how you tackled all that fibre optic... Sorry you could not get all the lighting done, but great to see you making progress.

I saw a Life Force kit for this model by Starling Tech. Has everything you need including sound card with 17 sounds.

Nice progress. Using SMD's and really very thin magnet/winding wire you will save alot of space in the neck "tube" and head, this is of course very tedious work. I'm hoping I will be able to do that on mine, but time will tell.

SMD and 1mm LEDs definitely make lighting tiny spaces a lot easier.

Looking good thus far. Quick question for you; would Brasso work in restoring clear plastic that's bee frosted because of glue? I ask because I have an Apache Helicopter model sitting mostly finished, but I screwed up the canopy. Originally I was thinking of seeing if I could find/order replacement parts somewhere, but we happen to have some Brasso in the house and if that will solve the problem then I can forgo the headache of searching for replacement parts.

In theory, I think it would work. Might need to use super fine sandpaper first and work your way up to the Brasso, but try the Brasso first.

I oue this model, you are doing a great job!!!! Can you explain how to pur resistors into the LED lights? I'm getting ready to build my third one as Ggolden Boy, and I don't want to shell out all the movey for a pre done light kit. I don't know anything about resistors, but i'm willing to learn. Thanks!!!!!

Ugh that damn seam right through the center of the bubble head. I hope somebody comes out with an after market fix for that. I know there are molding limitations, but with all of the advanced technology there's got to be a better way. How was the original molded? It's basically a very flat oval fish bowl, but I don't think it is glass, but acrylic. I would employ the same method but in miniature.
