B-1B LANCER: America’s Most Dangerous Bomber on Earth

Ғылым және технология

The B-1B Lancer is a highly versatile, multi-mission weapon system. The B-1B Bomber synthetic aperture radar is capable of tracking, targeting and engaging moving vehicles as well as self-targeting and terrain-following modes.
Carrying the largest conventional payload of both guided and unguided weapons in the Air Force inventory, the multi-mission B-1 bomber aircrafts is the backbone of America's long-range bomber force. It can rapidly deliver massive quantities of precision and non-precision weapons against any adversary, anywhere in the world, at any time.

We were in Kandahar Province on the enemy supply trail at 6500 ft and got ambushed so we dug in behind the boulders and requested air support. We were advised the A10's could not be on site for 30 minutes at best and my response was we would not last that long but we would hold in place. The next thing I heard was a strange voice telling us to dig in place and that THEIR mission had been canceled, but could deliver lots of gifts to buy us some time and it was COVER ears time! When that B1 arrived it was only five minutes after the call. Most of us were visible elevated off the sandy ground when that bomb run exploded right in front of our now covered faces and ears! IMPRESED DOES NOT EVEN BEGINE TO DISCRIBE THE AMAZING DISPLAY BY A SINGLE BI. I HAD TO SET UP STEAK DINNERS AT A BAR HANG OUT BACK NEAR THE BASE IN SOUTH DAKOTA FOR AFTER THEIR 30 HOUR RETURN WITH A NOW EMPTY BOMB RUN LOAD AS A HEARTFUL THANKS!

I personally haven’t even seen or heard them doing any test flights yet with it, and since the B-21 is taking longer than expected that hopefully means the B-1 will be able to stay around for just a little while longer. In a perfect world with endless money I’d keep the B-1 over other bombers just because of how cool it is 😎. Awesome video as always guys 👍🏻.

The total cost to operate one B1B for one hour in 2020 was $173,014. The total cost per B1B for that year was $19.02 million each (this is the cost per hour by flight hours for each plane so the average B1B flew only 100 hours a year in 2020). Depot level repairable (engines as an example) was the largest cost area. Since there were only about 65 in service that year, the overall cost of operating the B1B fleet is only equal to the purchase price of 12 F-35 fighters. I just thought it would be nice to know how much we spend on an airplane that was never used for the purpose that it was built. To be fair, the four Air Force One airplanes cost $107 million per year each to operate and together, they flew only 1149 hours, so the B1B by comparisons is a deal except that Air Force One can't bomb anyone.

emotionally I agree with you. logically I have to disagree. It's role will be replaced completely with the Raider. It's expensive to keep these planes operational. It's time to move on and train pilots on the Raider. we're going to build over 150. more than enough to replace and displace the Bone also, we're moving away from the war on terror, where the Bone thrives. they dont have SAMs to deal with. Now that we're moving and positioning toward our pear rivals China and Russia, stealth will be needed to win tactically. The bone would be knocked out of the sky immediately with a pear rival

@@BrothersKeeper44 Just mothball them lovingly. It would be foolhardy to replace such incredibly useful machines. Also, 128 500lb bombs or 72 cruise missiles. It's the most heavily armed plane built. Period. Ukraine shows (and honestly, so does Wargame-my favourite RTS for yrs), that even older equipment is very useful and survivable, used in an appropriate combined arms manner. That's how the West fights. Ukraine still has an airforce because of this, do they not? Rhetorical. In Wargame (I have AirLand Battle), you put together an army from everything you have in inventory... thousands of eg MBTs the catch is: you can't build more (reflecting how it takes yrs to build even missiles let alone tanks or ships), so you do end up fighting with older equipment-as is happening in Ukraine, which is near pear. T-72s and older tanks like Leopards, used appropriately-where everyone supports each other in the right way, because they train in combined arms all the time (Russia doesn't do this) can do surprisingly well.

The role of the B1B eliminates its need to be called a bomber since it won't drop bombs anymore during any foreseeable conflict. Like the B52, it will be used as a standoff platform for any number of weapons with ranges of over 1500 miles to hit targets with pinpoint accuracy. If there are inland targets outside of that range, the B2 and B21 are designed to take care of those.

The B1 was so dominant that treaties had to be signed to diminish it's threat. My dad worked on it for Rockwell in the 80s. He gave up a lot of his best time to make that plane work. All these years later, I'm thankful for the peace this plane created in the grand scheme and the work he did on behalf of our country. Much love.

Agreed and the original B-1a was faster, it went Mach 2.22 compared to the Ty-160’s Mach 2.05. But the B-1a was built to be a high altitude bomber until the USAF decided being a low altitude bomber with stealth was better. I think the Tu-160 is nice but it’s 100% a ripoff of the B-1 and I can’t stand these people who fanboy over it saying it’s the best thing in the world. Nice pfp btw

You caught it too... my comment tried to correct the English. I'm guessing it's a computer-generated title or someone from another country... The "on earth" is redundant. Where else is it going to be? You say, either "America's most dangerous bomber." Or, "The most dangerous bomber on earth." You don't say both at the same time.
