Description of Ford Mustang taken from Wikipedia "The first-generation Ford Mustang was manufactured by the Ford Motor Company from April 1964 until 1973. The introduction of the Mustang created a new class of automobile known as the pony car. The Mustang’s styling, with its long hood and short deck, proved wildly popular and inspired a host of imitators. It was initially introduced as a hardtop and convertible with the fastback version put on sale the following year. At the time of its introduction, the Mustang, sharing its underpinnings with the Falcon, was slotted into a compact car segment."

My dad had a 71 LTD Brougham, it had the most comfortable seats of any car.

My granddad had a 71 Ltd with a 390. He hardly ever drove it, but it was his baby.
Love the Rod Sterling LTD ones
My grandparents had a brand new 71 LTD. Was a great car.
The 71 LTD: one of the finest automobiles to ever grace the American highway!
I was in middle school when the 1971 Fords were introduced in September 1970. While all GM operations were shut down by the UAW nationwide strike, Ford nailed it with Rod Serling, Mr. Twilight Zone himself, promoting the 1971 LTD Brougham. By Thanksgiving the new Fords were everywhere, like a FoMoCo takeover of the city! I swear, once people saw the entire rear-end of an LTD light up in traffic, it caused a stampede to every Ford dealership in town. Chevy dealers could only watch, and cry.

I loved the taillights of the 71. It had a facial expression to it. Thanks for the story.
Great! Thanks.
My Dad bought a ‘71 LTD Brougham 4 door. Power every thing, high back seats, and thick vinyl roof. It was quiet and plush. A travel trailer we were pulling had a blowout and flipped is on the LTD’s roof. All 5 of us survived.
I love the whole Ford LTD line up Ford please bring back the LTD model and in Coupe & Wagon form

@Amplass 333 it’s my personal opinion but I think it would be great I am a big man at 6’5” & 250 compacts & midsize not happening I don’t like minivans & Suvs leave a very bad aftertaste I like roomy full-size luxury
This was my first car and a good one.
Grandpa bought one brand new. 71 LTD convertible. Light brown, black interior w/bucket seats and console, white top. She was a beauty!!! Oh, And he worked for Chevrolet in Flint Michigan!

Phillip Carey? Gonna have to look that up...he the one playing the city commissioner?
Oh man! Great to hear Rod Serling on these commercials 👍
That '71 Ford Galaxie has a beautiful ass end.
Rod Serling: "The ride in the Ford is so quiet you'll swear you were in ... The Twilight Zone."

THAT'S what they should have had him say! Still, just hearing him say LTD is good stuff.
Aired on May 22 1971
Ford and Lincoln/Mercury built some beautiful products back then but man did they ever rust after about two years of service.

@Amplass 333 Yeah if you had to daily one up in the rust belt, you'd really be hard pressed to keep them from rusting out. Lotta untreated metal inside weld seams. I think the best you could probably do (if you had the option) was a good oil bath for the undercarriage before and after the salty months. Honestly still good practice in the rust belt now!

Yes they would rust, but they weren't so terribly expensive. A guy could pick up a car for two or three year loan, trade the pink slip for new, now they're out to seven years for a reasonable payment.
Rod Serling would have made a great car salesman... probably a lot were sold from these commercials alone.
I loved my 351 Windsor engine in it. Learn how to park my boat.
My parents had a 69 or 70 LTD and it was a tank ! It had a 390 in it and I remember it ran like a scalded dog.
We had a 71 Galaxie 500 4 door hardtop the same color combination as the car in the "Ford White Sale" clip. Blue with a black vinyl top
Rod Serling gives the word Ford 4 syllables.
Dad had a 71 LTD-2 door, bought it from FORD of Pasadena, dark green with a white vinyl top, miss that LTD
Lol..Rod Sterling AND Sid Ceaser. Good stuff.
Quiet is something we all could use for awhile. I've heard enough out of everyone.

I have a 74 LTD 2 door and go drive it whenever I want to get away from it all in quiet comfort.
Holy crap ! Okay ! The car is quiet ! We get it ! We get it !!!
Big change from the 69/70 going thing ads....
RIP Rod Serling... You know, he actually WASN'T kidding, though... The LTDs then WERE quiet and offered a smooth ride!
And today most think that a noisy vehicle is the way to go .
I wish they bring them cars back
The first ad all I could think about was Burt Reynolds in the movie White Lightning.
To have snagged Rod Serling was epic
Love these ads

Every one I ever rode in was filthy... it's like a car that appealed the slobs and family guys trying to impress the neighbors. Only good thing about them was most came with decent power 351 cleveland that could move the big beast.
FORD gives you better ideas! Yea, they call it Chevrolet!
