Some of the best techniques I've learned for helping with my snacking: "Use a bowl" - don't eat straight out of the bag/box/jar. And "Out of sight, out of mind" - You eat what you see, so keep healthier options visible and convenient, and keep treats put up.

I do protein powder because I'm older-- as you age, you naturally start to lose muscle mass and to stay strong, it's best to have the extra and to stay active so you're building muscle to replace what you lose as to stay fit and not feel weaker. I have a stomach disease that makes it difficult to absorb vitamins and nutrients so I do take a multi-vitamin supplement and an extra B-12 tablet because I'm deficient. I would like to know how Brother Hampton consumes ginger & turmeric though. If it's a hot tea, would you recommend a brand you personally enjoy?

Something that I tell myself when I jump on the scale is that I dont take the number to seriously, because im not trying to lose WEIGHT im trying to lose FAT. Gaining muscle increases your weight, because it weighs more than fat, so it's pretty hard to tell yourself I want to lose weight. You SHOULD be trying to tell yourself I want to lose fat :)

That's kind of how where I'm at right now. I've lost 40 lbs so now instead of 240 lbs I'm 198. I've been stuck around 200 lb for what seems like two or three months now. Part of me wants to be discouraged because I haven't been losing weight but at the same time I look in the mirror and I'm getting swole so I know I'm losing fat and gaining muscle at equal proportions.

Agreed what I started doing is having my wife take pictures of me shirtless from all sides. Because being over weight you don't really look at your self in the mirror. Than I will exercise and eat less sugar for a month. And when my wife took those pictures the following month. It was quite a big difference and I actually smiled at my self which made me want to hit that next month even harder and look forward to those pictures. I hope this helps someone. If you weigh 300lbs, moving is your goal. Forget weights. Forget what anyone else is doing. Walk, stretch, yoga, just move. Every. Day. I have health issues myself (blah blah blah). I tried yoga a few years ago and it’s my jam. I start my day with a pain pill, some caffeine and the warrior poses. If it’s a bad day, I give myself permission to do it terrible, but I still do it. Stretching is better than staying in bed. Consistency is everything. God bless everyone who’s trying.

A friend of mine had the same problem, he was 250 pounds. Now he's shredded, he got like a 10% bodyfat, sixpack pecs and calisthenics arms. How he did it? He started trying to burn what he ate. He was hungry as fuck, but he was never eating junk food. He'd eat a lot of calories, but he would burn them all by working out. Obviously this took something like 3 years, but the point is that hunger can be justified. When you find yourself eating A LOT, but not junk food, simply work out like a beast after 3-4 hours. Don't deny it, justify it.

This is stupid, if you eat too much you’re gonna raise your bodyfat%, and then later in life, if you’ll wanna get shredded, you’ll need to burn all of that fat, which is hard. The best thing you should do is to put on some muscle. Start calisthenics, and since you have a really good bodyfat, muscles are gonna pop like a swole prison dude. Don’t put fat to get to the desired weight, put muscle and stay healthy. Also, the BMI is not that big of a deal, bodybuilders are considered obese... yeah right with a 5% bodyfat 🤦‍♂️ Anything you do, don’t force yourself to put fat lmao

This brought up something I hadn't thought of before. I moved to Germany about two years ago and have been feeling introverted, depressed and generally unmotivated all the time (along with random aches in different areas of my body). I come from Bosnia where it's relatively cold in the winters (We were from a very mountainous area) and sunny almost all summer, here it rains about 90% of the time. In the first year it was mostly because of home sickness and such. However my diet and frequency of leaving my house has also significantly changed since I moved here. We used to grow our own fruits and vegetables, I've also noticed that store bought apples here cause my throat to swell and face to itch. I've put on approx. 20kg since I moved here (Which was not completely bad because for my build at 70kg I looked relatively sick.). Moving to a different country comes with lots of ups and downs, the food is different, the air is different, climate is different, etc etc. We are built for where we come from, I've always had massive muscular thighs without training, because I'm from a mountainous area where we had to climb hills all the time and the fact that I don't get that same workout/activity messes with me in multiple ways. So basically there can be multiple reasons for an unhealthy attitude and lifestyle, an unhealthy lifestyle for me could mean something completely different for you and vice versa, just depends what your body is used to and so.
