Yes, and it’s Called Harry Potter the Half Blood Prince, the 6th story of Harry Potter but unfortunately lost to Avatar on Best Cinematography.
To be fair, District 9 had a pretty good chance of winning. I think the only reason why Avatar beat it is because in Avatar the VFX had a bigger scope. But in terms of artistry and skill, the VFX in District 9 were a worthy competitor for Avatar.

10 жыл бұрын
***** Sorry for the delay of my reply. Bullock is utterly perfect in "Gravity". C.Blanchett will win her second deserved Oscar, but Bullock is an excellent actress...and if she will win the award for "Gravity" her victory will be totally worthy. "Gravity", "Crash", "Infamous", "Extremely loud and incredibly close" and "Speed" are all great (and NOT comic) performances by Sandra Bullock. And she was also very good in "The blind side", as critics affirmed. But a lot of fierce internet-users (that are just improvised critics and nothing more) hate her work in that movie and her win. But her acting was impeccable in that film, she was the better thing in a decent movie. Anyway my best actors in a leading role this year are: Judi Dench and Leonardo Di Caprio. Good Sunday and good Oscars ceremony.

Umm did you not read the title? This Avatar win is for the "cinematography and VISUAL EFFECTS" category, visual effects means CGI and other special effects. And in terms of visual effects, Avatar beats any other movie. The way Cameron incorporated all the beautiful visual effects with the live action scenes was brilliant and his use of motion capture technology was considered 'revolutionary' at the time.
