She is the best actress in the world. Take nothing away from Meryl Streep. Streep jumped off the screen in her first scene in Deer Hunter. It was a hole shtt moment. Who are YOU? But over the years, I just think no one is consistently more amazing than Kate Winslet. Personal preference, that's all. I still love Meryl Streep.

If you listen around 6:00 right after she wins you can hear her dad whistle the first time. They must’ve talked about doing something like that so she could find him but she was so swept up initially she didn’t hear the first one! So adorable. The second try made Oscar history.

This was a very tough year! Kate and Angie were really in toe to toe. Had my personal bias for Angie but Kate's performance was really worth commending.

Just watched the reader for the first time and Im blown away. This oscar was more then deserved! Amazing performance !

@@bluebird2604 well yes of course. most things we see from celebs, including friendships / relationships are fake a lot of the time. However that doesn’t mean that there aren’t genuine, kind and selfless famous people

She deserves it. Portraits her role flawlessly, one of my favorite movies

God this woman is talented and a class act. She went up against heavy hitters and came out deservedly on top. I saw that movie it was an incredible story and she played it so well. Such an extraordinary actress. She really wears her heart on her sleeve. Her dad must be the sweetest man.

I've just watched "The Reader" and I came here to cry.

Lea Gebbie McLaine impresses me in the way she seems to move through life on her own terms. She was never, for example, the "Hollywood paradigm," all image and not substance. It's a wonder she didn't go more towards Broadway than Hollywood for that reason.

Peter Jackson saw that spark in Kate when she was a teenager in “Heavenly Creatures”. She was phenomenal in that role and continues to amaze us with her versatility and courage. Love you Kate! 😊👍
