I (for one) would rather see the likes of Amy and Tina poking fun (and occasionally hitting hard) where it's due, without coming across as cynical and miserable, like Gervais in his last Golden Globes gig. The people in charge of these award shows want TV ratings above all else, and Tina and Amy's style appeals to a wider net than Gervais's "burn 'em all down" approach. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing Ricky Gervais ripping celebrities apart, but year after year? Ehhhh. Too much of a good thing.

First her suggestion that a movie star would ever do porn allows Tina Fey to say "Pretty sure she has no plans to do porn (because she's a movie star, why would she)" This sets up the line when Amy Poehler says "no one has PLANS to do porn" implies that any female (especially those that end up in porn) never PLANNED to end up in porn, but still end up in porn. It also implies that even a successful person can end up in porn despite their plans

Well said. They don't hate the entertainment industry and have disdain for everyone who works in it, like some past hosts. That's secretly important to hosting. Hosts have to make fun of Hollywood and actors/actresses without conveying that they think their targets are evil or worthless.

cameraman was lagging so the visual joke was sort of lost but "beautiful people of film" *cuts to Tarantino* "rat-faced people on television" *cuts to Sofia Vergara*

They are the perfect hosts because not only are they hilarious and genius writers, they aren't afraid to make fun of how ridiculous Hollywood is and NOBODY is safe! Everyone in that room is scared of them and what they might say and that's what makes it so much fun.

Except for Tom Hanks. One of the greatest actors of his time and he still can't pretend like he is fine with a few simple jokes against him😂 and this one was "Tam Honks", a preschool level joke which he couldn't handle.
