For those wondering, the showrunner Albert Kim confirmed that the shot of the Fire Nation soldier vs. the Air Nomad is Monk Gyatso vs. Sozin. Showing the Air Nomad Genocide out the gate is gonna open the door to explore Aang's trauma that just wasn't really done in the original. Potentially.

@@ssplif5415 Ozai just wanted to finished the job. That entire god damn line was just the worst until Zuko. It was Azulon who was responsible for nearly wiping out the Southern Water Tribe. Sozin of course wiped out the Air Nomads. And Ozai wanted to lay waste to the Earth Kingdom. Like...sht.

Toph is in the second season! This series currently only covers the first. So there’s still a bit of wait. And the woman with tattoos is June, the bounty hunter with the anteater/mole looking animal. I don’t know if you guys remember, it’s the one with the tongue that can numb who it hits. As for the effects, I thought they were fantastic. The show has actually been in post production for longer than a year. Maybe even 2. So they’ve actually been working on the VFX a VERY long time. From what I can gather from the trailer, they’ve tried to perfect it as best as they can on a scale this huge. Hour long, 8 episodes and they spent almost 2+ years on post production. That gives me a lot of hope for it visually.

I lost hope as I found out that they’re changing stuff about the characters. Some of which intertwine with their morals and views that they later learn to grow from (character development)

Don't forget it's important to the plot that we don't meet Toph till season 2 because Aang has to master waterbending first, and he only meets her because he's looking for an earthbending teacher.

The lady with the tattoos on either shoulder was June, the bounty hunter. She helped Zuko and Iroh find Aang using her pet, Nyla, which has a great sense of smell.

They get bonus points for pronouncing Aang's name correctly in comparison to the movie we do not talk about.

This looks really good so far. It's actually showing respect for the source material, the cgi creatures look great, and the cast all seem to fit their characters. That Bumi scene was absolutely beautiful.

first season would be just focusing on Book 1 so that's why you saw Bumi. Toph appeared in Book 2 instead.

Zuko definitely has THE best character redemption arc ever

Netflix confirmed they wanted to show more of the Fire Nation in this series in comparison to the original show. We see more of Azula and Ozai to see them more as villains instead of waiting for them to appear much later. Also, there was a brief shot of Firebenders versus Air Nomads. We are going to see the attack on the Southern Air Temple

Zuko’s scar should have been more detailed imo

Nothing is wrong with the bending animation in this how. We had to deal with that movie with 5+ people doing dance moves just to send one tiny rock flying in slow motion.

Btw they’re staying true to the original so this first season is only covering book 1. Also they wanted to be ethnically accurate for the casting skin tone was less of a concern rather than casting actors of the required ethnicity.

They might not have toph in here since its just the first season like book 1 of avatar Azula appeared in book 1 in some scenes.

Fr like they are being WAY to picky the actors are racially accurate to the show and bending isnt real…this is 1000x better than the movie and they still not happy when they dont even remember certain characters such as june and even complaining abt toph when shes not in the story yet-

Toph doesn't come in until book 2, which is why we don't see her They added ozais face earlier than the show, which waited till book 3 But his presence was always known. It was just a matter of revealing his face earlier. But changing toph coming into the story at book 2 and making her part of book 1 would have major story implications haha Something to look forward to for book 2!

4:13 toph at most will prob be in the post credit scene if they have one . Azula woulda been a really good choice for the post credit scene , but they’re obv gunna show her off a bit in season 1 so it doesn’t really make sense to have her be it since they already revealed her. Which is why Toph would be the best choice for a post credit scene

Toph is probably not in this season at all. She appears in season 2 in the cartoon. And the storyline is most likely to focus on the season one storyline this season, and toph is not a part of it. When they announced the cast for this live action, they didn’t announce Toph, she isn’t cast so no I don’t think there is a Toph this season.

No one said she was black tho. Dark skinned doesn't only mean "Black". Also , Yes its great that they got actors that are actually that ethnicity, but it also would've been nice to see another ethnically accurate *darker skinned* actress. Does it make or break the show? No. Does it take away from the immersion? Slightly. Will we get it over it? Obviously.

May not have watched the original series (have heard lots and have seen clips and reviews to the point where I’ve been spoiled lots) haven’t seen the love action movie either (apart from reactions and reviews) but from what I can tell, this looks really good and obviously a massive improvement from the movie.

I think you guys need to rewatch the show again. The casting for Sokka is nearly perfect. His features and voice match him too well. Also that lady is June (the bounty hunter who help zuko track down aang) not Azula.

Azula wasn’t the one on the Groundhog/dog thingy, that was her team of bounty hunters to find the Aang and his gang. Azula was the one with the Bow and Arrow. I didn’t see Ty-Lee though.. or Tough.. I feel so bad for Sokkas actor. People hate the way he looks. But Acting Isn’t all about looks, It’s mostly about Character and personality, and all that good stuff. I’m just happy he sounds and acts like Sokka. 😭👍 People did complain that Azula looked too baby faced. Which I can agree on.. but Acting Isn’t all about looks people! 🙏

Toph is a Book 2 chracter. They have cast Mai and Ty Lee because they're showing more Azula, and if you show more Azula you have to show more of her friends as well. Ian Ousley is getting the short end of the stick. He looks and sounds great.

It’s a full season with multiple episodes and I believe it’s only based on the first season with some added scenes on things we didn’t get to see in the animated show like when the fire nation wiped out the air nomads.
