Autoloader How it Works T90 M | Main Battle Tank Engineering Explained

Ғылым және технология

The T90 Tank has a length of 6.8 meters or 22.3 feet measuring only the Hull.
It has a Width of 3.78 meters or 12.4 feet, while it has a height of just 2.3 meters or 7.5 feet.
Comparing this to an average person will help you understand it better or even more interesting, let’s compare this to the World’s tallest Human at 8 feet 3 inches. as you can see it looks very small.
This is the T 14 R mata tank, as you can see it’s much bigger and larger.
Just besides the T90 tank is the British Challenger 2 , the Americans, Abrams tank, and the Lehperd 2A6 tank.
Soviet tank philosophy is to have lighter and Lower profile tanks, the reason why it weighs around 48 Tonnes or 52 US Tonnes.
Let’s Start from the front, it has an improved main gun a 125 mm Smooth Bore Gun, Interestingly it's the same Gun, being fitted on the T-14 Armata.
Just beside it is the 7.5 mm Machine gun that could be fired by the Gunner using Fire control systems.

In over 90% of the "ammo detonation" cases it is NOT the autoloader that detonates / cooks off in T72 tanks, but the extra ammo carried outside the carousel. Ammo detonation does not have anything to do with the carousel, since all the tanks detonate if the ammunition they carry inside is inside their hulls (just like with Leopard 2 for example). The thing is the carousel is a reallly small target in the T72 (its much smaller than T64 or T80 carousel) and it has some protection, but it also can carry only 22 rounds. Hence, the need for storing the extra ammo in a bustle in T90M, rather than loosely around the turret and hull.

Was going to say the same. There's a lot of people out there ridiculizing russian tanks (all thanks to the memes) that don't know that. Funny enough, all the tanks in the worls excluding some very very few modern tanks store rounds inside the vehicle. Their turrets don't blow up because there is no carrousel autoloader to ignite when a round pierces it. Fun fact is that the crew inside don't really give a shit if the turret ejects or not, they are dead anyway.

  • @user-tv7fg7wt2d

@@iasha740 Not having a carousel does not prevent turrets from blowing off. Leo 2s in Turkey got their turrets pop even though they didn't have a carousel. Type 69s during the Gulf War got theirs popped as well. As long as enough pressure is pumped to the turret, then it will blow off.

  • @erichammond9308

    @erichammond9308

Actually, have you ever heard of "blow-out panels"? Most modern NATO tanks are equipped with blow-out panels that vent the explosion and won't launch their turret. The autoloader system prevents the use of blow-out panels. So, yeah, the autoloader system is what causes the Russian tanks to launch turret and crew into low earth orbit when they are hit.

The relatively light weight, reduced dimensions and low profile of the tank provide a number of important advantages. These are increased cross-country ability through mud and small bridges, reduced visibility of the tank and more chances of a miss when trying to hit this tank. You should also not forget that this and other Russian tanks are much more mass produced. Russian technology is also cheaper, less demanding in operation and maintenance, and this is often forgotten. In the final comparison of all parameters, the Russian tank and other Russian weapons are much better suited for mass war

"Russian technology is also cheaper, less demanding in maintenance and operation" Which likely just means it won't operate as well as its Western counterparts do (furthermore many of the newer tanks like T90 and Armada use imported technology from the west or elsewhere, computers for various things Optics, Etc so its not even Russian technology (Oh and it tends to be older tek aswell) "The Russian tank and other Russian weapons are much better suited for Mass War" In a mass war were you expect to lose your cheap and easy to mass-produced things on Mass they Sure ARE THE BEST! Because if they weren't going to be lost or destroyed on mass why would you make them cheap and easy to mass-produce to begin with? Unless of course you were expecting them to be lost and destroyed on Mass. :] Good old Soviet Doctrine quantity over quality

It’s a useful design with multiple layers of redundancy with its optics. The auto loader feature is a pioneer which other nations are developing with their own future tanks. Adding more armor to the carousel and blowout panels to the turret are also great improvements. The extensive range and back up generator are very useful too.

Many people misunderstood that if the turret don't fly the tank crew totally safe. The auto loader storage place right inside the driving cabin. Sound like sit on gun powder barrel but not really is. If some projectile can trigger that ammunition, it penetrated the armor and got in the driving cabin. An explode inside the cabin (which is a close space) would kill any crews inside. It mean if the bullet penetrated and explode inside there is not much hope for crew whether they are siting on a gun powder barrel or not. Heat ammunition main purpose is to behavior like that. It pen then explode inside spread hundred of sharps to crews' face. The separated ammunition storage design with blow off panel like Abraham only can protect crews if projectile hit the ammunition storage. The risk is still there if it hit the driving cabin. Maybe we won't see space projects like Rus Tanks but remember we don't need to open a pot's lid to well cook food inside. What cook the food in a pot is heat and pressure. The reason why Rus Tank seem lack of crew saving features is because it's mainly designed to fight on muddy land of east Europe plain. After all, if a Tank can move, all of safe features become useless. Moreover, they need small, low profile tank to hide in a vat open space.

T-14 has a different gun (2A82, but to be honest I've heard that they might put it in T-90M in the future). 3. Commanders machinegun can be 7.62mm and 12.7mm which depends on what module was supplied to the field 4. Every transmission there is automatic, if there even is another one. There is a mythical "new" transmission with a better reverse speed, but we don't have any proofs of it's existence. 5. T-90M is supposed to get hard kill system sometime in the future, it was finally accepted into production.

Turret cook-off is not because of auto-loader. Auto-loader of T-72/80/90 lays almost on the floor of the tank. It's very low and has horizontal orientation, to be hit by a projectile. Shells literally lay on the floor. Besides, it's additionally protected by steel weels and tracks. Explosion of turret in most cases was caused by exploded shells in the storage, not in auto-loader. Not all shells are located in auto-loader. Auto-loader is like automatic rifle magaizine. Usually tank has additional shells that are in the special storage inside turret. They are used to reload auto-loader after it's run out of ammo, like reloading rifle's magazine. T-64 had autoloader in which shells were stored vertically and tankmen sat inside rotating vertical pack of shells. So, in T-64 turret cook off is usually caused by explosion of shells located in its auto-loader. Though, T-64 was first tank in the world with auto-loader.

8:28 Armor increase wont eliminate the problem, the explosion would rip that turret apart anyway. Its more about shrapnels of the entering projectiles not detonating them in the first place and causing, hopefully, less damage. 10:08 its called slat armour officially but welded structure is decribing it fairly well i guess 11:29 No mbt is suited for urban combat and its not due to power to weight ratio or ground pressure.. Some can do better than others but they all fail due to simple inability to even retaliate due to limited elevation of those big cannons and having so many exposed angles around you while your own situational awareness is si limited that you have to completely rely on other units. Not beeing political here but we saw russians try to bring their mbt's into urban places and it failed hard enough for them to avoid it after. But overall great job, I would not want to make it seem like the rest of the video was not great in terms of accuracy or visual representation. Im glad that this subject is getting more and more visual material.

@@crusader_wolf1104 I am not sure that there are old systems on this version, besides, most of the US tanks are in an even older condition, only a few are undergoing modernization, and new tactics are almost not produced (leclerc and new leopards. Things are even worse with the Abrams now...)

Human loader is subjected to human weaknesses such as getting tired, hungry, sleepy, have to pee and poop. Also subjected to emotions and psychological weaknesses such as getting panic, scared, PTSD and other mental related stuff. Other than these, also subjected to injuries, sickness, diseases and lost of life. All these will make the tank unable to load it's gun. Auto-loader have no such weaknesses, can load the gun in crucial moment.
