After 55 years since my first Tyco set, NONE of the problems with slot racing have been addressed. 1) We need two lane and four lane specific track. 2) The outside lane of the curve needs room for drift. Another 2 inches of track width is needed; hence the 2 and 4 lane specific track. 3) Guard rails are worthless for racing. 4) Add on cornering aprons are rare and problematic. 5) We need separate power supplies for each lane 6) Power supplies need to be metered with variable power rates, not switched jumps. 7) Variable power will even out the cars that run faster. Now we can race! ...after the incredibly stupid magnets are removed...if possible.

Thank you for the video, I just bought the AFX 24 hour Champions " November 2020" the track is great and the cars also, one thing I really like is the power pack has a settings how fast you want your car to go , it has a beginner's next one is intermediate and the next one is professional, my son is 12 years old, we race at beginners and the car stays on track does not fall or wipe out or crashes, I love the beginners and so does my son, just the other day my daughter who is 16 years old started playing with the race track and she loves the track and cars, I think I'm going to invest into a 4 lane track.

My AFX cars run smoothly and are fast..especially through the drift action curves. No problem so far. And I have over 60 AFX cars that all race good.👍

I purchased the Tomy set last year & was pretty happy with its performance 🏁 the Tomy track works with older Autoworld's older track ( knight Rider ,,, Dukes of Hazzard sets ) they click together fairly well. I now hop up all my cars with Harden Creek parts and super tires 👍🏻 Thanks for helping keep HO hobby alive & in the mainstream

The best track plan is the four lane Dayton Tri-oval with the centre road circuit from the book "The Slot Car Bible"

I have purchased 8 of the earlier Super IIIs when it was a new chassis, and 8 of the more recent Nascars. Of the 16 chassis only 4 had decent enough gear mesh for me to feel confident to try them, and of those four one would not run. I have had 30 or so Tomy AFX chassis in that period, and they all ran, most very well. So either I got unlucky, you got lucky, or AW sort cars that go into sets, but not ones that are sold on their own.....

It appears currently that the Super III is a bit better overall than older ones. Gears are still the weak link. Those need to be completely redesigned. The crown is the worst part of the equation.

Thanks for the video. I'm 54 and had an AFX track in the 70's. Got back into it about 20 years ago and stayed with AFX. When I moved the movers lost my box with my track so I haven't even had a track for years now. I'm going to get back into it and get a new track. Even when I was a kid I always thought the AFX track quality was not great. Until just recently I had never even heard of Auto World but after seeing your review I'm going to order the 14 foot Showroom Shootout and buy some extra pieces. One question. Can the AFX tri power pack be modified to use on Auto World, or do they have something similar? My two grandsons will be using it and that would be nice for them. Thanks again.

I hope the Mega G+ cars aren't bad. I grew up with the Turbo chassis, tried a couple of stock Mega G chassis (long and short) and found them rather disappointing in quality and not terribly reliable. I'm running a couple of Autoworld chassis with the traction magnets popped out and they've proven to be much more fun, apparently not as good as the real thing though.

My AFX track has rail height from .006"-.030" on lots of pieces. Makes it impossible to tune a car.

No!! Tomy is miles better!!! Auto world track is AFX cloned, so it's ok, but the AW cars are utterly horrendous and have to be modified!!

@@nurzrachit7133 Do your research first. I think the most important thing is the track You can always buy cars. Do yourself a favor and get some 440X2s and Super G plus cars. The new Mega G+ cars are junk.. But, that's just my opinion..

Can the Auto World controller be used on the Tomy track, or are the plugs too different?

I would say with a little work you could change out the plugs in about 10 minutes.

I can't say. That piece of data was not a priority when I had these set up. I can't set all these back up just for a measurement.

I am confused about the comment that the AFX 120 ohm controller is pretty much like an on-and-off switch compared to the AW controller which I think you said is 45 ohm. From my experience the higher the impedance, the more the controller button or switch has to travel in order to make a difference. So the 120 ohm controller would be less of an on-and-off switch compared to the AW controller. Can you clarify what you meant?

For older cars it works like an on off switch. Not the case for the newer cars. So to run the old AFX cars well you need an old controller.

The wireless controllers have too much lag. You can't run fast cars with it.

I just set up a Tomy AFX 4 lane track. I'm back in the hobby after 20 years or so. This Tomy track isn't near as good as the old track I had when I purchased a Rokar set in the early 90s that came with the Indy cars. I can't remember the name of the track? The Rokar set track snapped together rather than pushed together. The Tomy track 9in and 15in straight are bowed in the middle they don't sit flat on the table, and it's not even straight. When you attach 4 or 5 pieces it doesn't go in a straight line so when you come to a turn you have kinks in the connections. I think this track is junk.. It's too late for me to try the AW track. I've got several hundreds of $$ into it so far.. I didn't even know about the AW track when I got the Tomy track.. And the Tomy track is so noisy!! The connections are terrible. And the pin slots are very uneven the little piece of plastic doesn't line up even so when you go into a turn the guide pin hits the plastic tab that sticks out. Don't know what's up with that?? I can't believe that they make such a poor product.. One more thing, I think the Mega G+ cars are junk. They are very noisy on the track. I'll probably tear them down and see what I can do with the parts... Do they make an adapter for the Aw and Tomy tracks?? I couldn't see the connections on the AW track in your video. Good video Sir. I hope people don't make the same mistake I did and get the Tomy track?? When comparing new cras and the older cars. The older cars are much better. In my opinion the 440X2s, Super G Plus cars are the best.. And the old Tyco440s were also a good car. That's why I just got 4 or 5 of each!! I'm going to send AXF an email and see what they say when I tell them how bad their track is?? They should give me my money back.. But that won't happen!! I'll make modifications on the joints and I'll make the track better than it was when I received it.. Race on everyone!!!

There’s no need for an adapter track because Autoworld and AFX Tomy (not Aurora AFX) fit with one another.

The Victory 400 set is terrible. I started to do a video on it and the controllers were so terrible I decided not to publish it. Auto World can get themselves into such sorry shape.
