Rick Moranus quit acting because his wife died and he had two kids to raise by himself. Little Pet Shop Of Horrors with him in it is mostly a musical/comedy but you might wanna justify it as a an actual horror for the month. I would highly suggest Army of Darkness but that is the third movie in the Evil Dead series and the first one is actual horror/campiness. The second movie jumps from straight horror to straight comedy while the third movie is action/comedy and has some great oneliners.

One of my favorite parts in the movie is when a joyous Ray pulls up in an old clunker and says "Everybody can relax I found the car!". He then lists off all it's problems & how it basically needs about $10,000 of work done to it. Peter asks him "how much" the car was, and Ray says "Only $4,800" (about $13,000 today). The face Peter makes after hearing that is absolutely hilarious. Ray could have bought a brand new car for that price. 😂
"Where are the elevators?" I'm surprised you'd want to trust the elevators in a possessed building.

Rick Moranis's performance is so fantastic in both Ghostbuster movies, it's honestly shocking how little some of his lines are as popular as some of the main cast. That entire tracking shot of him at his party just lamely circling the room giving mundane financial advice is hilarious. And the subtle scene stealing he pulls off when the Protection grid is being shut down. Watch that back, he's just there, slightly off centre shot cartoonishly mimicking everyone around him as it's what Vince would be doing in said scene. Such a good actor.

The green blob is Slimer, in both versions of the animated series he becomes a sort of "pet" for the Ghostbusters. He's an homage to the late John Belushi who was going to be in this movie as the Peter Venkman character but he passed 2 years before the release so Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis re-wrote the character for Bill Murray. The original Venkman was, apparently supposed to be kind of a slob, eating and drink excessively but that went to Slimer as part of the homage. Venkman's character became, as you saw, a womanising douche, fitting with rolls Bill Murray is more used to playing.

Right, and Bill Murray ad-libbed his lines on the spot, which is why Dan Akyroyd only shakes and nods his head in reply, having had no prior time to think of a suitable response.
"That song" is Cleaning Up The Town by The Bus Boys. Great band.
I've had the epic pleasure of meeting Bill Bryan, the man that built and wore the Stay Puft man suit in the movie. Fun fact he told me was that when you see the Stay Puft the first time walking behind the buildings, he was only wearing the head piece without the rest of the costume. He also told me that my cosplay knife I made looked great which I later got stabbed by Chuck Norris himself with.
One of the biggest secret to the humour and success of the show is that they wrote it as a straight-played horror movie and then decided to cast comedians for it.
This is an absolute classic! Your reactions were spot on. 🤣 All the feels.
"Alcoholic blob" was hilarious. Mary always delivers. Can't wait for the upcoming scary movies.

When we saw this in the theater, when the librarian ghost says "shhhhhh" it brought chills. The sounds went right through us.

Fun fact Slimer, the green blob, is supposed to be John Belushi who was originally going to be Peter Veikman. Unfortunately he passed away before filming so Dan Aykroyd, who was a good friend of Belushi, put Slimer in the movie as a tribute.
The special effects for 1984 were actually really good.

I'm suprised how much PG movies could get away with back in the day. Nowadays, G and PG are the same thing, but in the 80's it actually meant something

Yeah, “Temple of Doom” was the first movie to be rated PG-13
The only thing that I can tell you about that that green blob of a ghost is that his name is "Slimer" and in the Ghostbusters cartoon (back in the 80's) Slimer kinda becomes their mascot of sorts and he basically lives with them in the old firehouse.
@jescis0

Technically he doesn't get named "Slimmer" UNTIL AFTER the first episode of the 80's cartoon "The Real Ghostbusters" which was named that because of the OTHER "Ghostbusters" cartoon that came out before the movie based cartoon came out! 😉😉😁😁

True
Totally agreed about the 80's hair and styles, Sigourney Weaver looked so amazing as Dana. Also, seeing this again, there's a lot of things I can't believe my mom would have (at least knowingly) let me watch, I was 9 years old when it came out on VHS! Also, another similar 80's classic you need to see is Gremlins!
This does have a sequel if you find the scary movies get too much for you and you need a break. People debate about the quality of it in comparison to the original but I liked it.

Young Frankenstein always good for October laughs. The original Children of the Corn is a classic. White Noise (2005).
Zuul and Vinz Clortho (the Gatekeeper and the Keymaster of Gozer) are officially known as the Terror Dogs or Hellhounds. So technically Louis was right, they ARE dogs. Sort of.

You have just witnessed my all time favorite movie!
Slimer ( the green blob ) is supposed to represent John Belushi, who was best friend of Dan Akroyd who wrote most of the screenplay. John died not to long before the movie was made.
My favorite option for the 'magic word' is definitely: abracadabra 😇 This movie was one of the first films I saw in a movie theater. First one was definitely ET, made me become a SciFi fan 🤓
Two to step in between Ghostbusters and Texas Chainsaw massacre are "Witches of Eastwick" or "Practical Magic". Both are well written, well acted and only medium scary.
Seriously, Ghostbusters 2 (made about 5 years after this one, with all the same cast) Is definitely worth a watch.. don’t let anyone tell you differently . I’ll admit some people might think it’s a little Cornier and not quite as good as this one. But really.. it’s a fun, good time trust me, with even more Rick Moranis 👍.

Also, mimnimum in NY at time of Ghostbusters was 3.35/hr, so a full time job ran almost $7000/year. So 11,500 a year was actually pretty decent.
