Audi B7 RS4 - One Take

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Matt runs Latigo Canyon, one of SoCal's most technical roads, in a 2007 Audi RS4 sedan. The RS4 was one of the coolest sport sedans of the 2000's, and Matt's actually never tested a stock one, so a one take is key!

    Chris O Its not the same my friend, b5 s4 got a v6, the b7 rs4 is a v8, the engine sits way more in front, also the b5 s4 got modified rear LSD, probably more lock, so its easier to loose traction on the rear when doing donuts

    ttcro22 RS4 b7 is even better with torsen that send 60% power to the rear wheels. And RS4 have better weight distribution.

    Yep the new ones are much better, i consider a b8 s4 for my next car actualy :) GTR is a different story tho, its nearly perfectly corner weighted without suspension :) Every car has modified suspension on weight differences in corners, GTR has nearly perfect corner weights without the suspension needing to be adjusted for that, only dedicated sports cars are engineered like that, u cant really compare a family sedan that needs to be evrythign with that :P But good point

  • @ChrisOstberg

    @ChrisOstberg

    ttcro22 - That's my point. Adding Ohlins suspension and a tight rear LSD would make a profound improvement in the RS4's balance. The RS4's V8 hardly weighs more than the iron block V6.

    The mechanical whine on that engine comes from the location of the timing chains. They are very close to the firewall and do produce a nice sound. Different that a turbo or supercharger, but still nice. Edit: Actually, it's due to the AC compressor, water pump, power steering pump and oil pump all being shaft driven with straight cut gears, rather than being driven by belts like on a normal car.

    That was an excellent video. I've had a 2007 RS4 for two years, it was really nice standard but I added a Milltek non res which massively improved the exhaust note. Only other mod was brake upgrades. I live in rural nother Scotland and this car handles all weathers. Its especially good in the winter with the Vredestien winter tyres, it road holding is insane! You should come to Scotland and do a video of the NC500 road trip in the Scottish Highlands, and do it in a real American Muscle car. I really want to do that canyon road on a motorbike, looks epic! Nice driving by the way.

I had an s-line Avant same color, very beautiful car for the time, I had it ears ago, by 2010 it was 4 years old, and the dash was so modern for the time, Most interesting part, without the navigation(could be still possible to order) this same dash was there on the A4 B6, which is a 2002 year model. This means that a 2002 year model Audi dash is more modern than a Japanese 2010.

    I find it funny reading through comments talking about how quick a car is, when the length of the race is maybe 10 to 15 seconds in length. Any carmaker can build a car to go fast for short intermittent amounts of time. How many car makers build into their road-going cars the ability to survive being driven fast for long distances, for long extended amounts of time, on a course that requires turning the steering wheel right or left . The B7 RS4 is one of those cars that while may not be fast by today's standards driving in a straight line, throw in some fast sweepers and some long-distance,, few cars inspire the type of confidence, fun, and reward the B7 RS4 does.

    That's the question I ask myself frequently. I have a 2013 ford fusion now and it's great but cars are my passion and I would like something more spirited. So, do I stick with the affordable, 36 mpg, practical family sedan, or do I pony up the cash for a fun German sports sedan and get a great ownership experience?

  • @MarkRose1337

    @MarkRose1337

    9 жыл бұрын

    William Levine If you have no debt, and the money for maintenance and fuel, why not? If you have debt, stick with the Fusion, because it will be much cheaper to run. It's got at least 160 hp, which isn't that bad! In some ways lower horse power is more fun because it forces you to be more efficient with your momentum, know your engine better, and be a better driver. My daily driver fwd manual hatchback has only 120 hp, is massively front weighted with under-steer and over-steer, yet I can drift it because I know its balance, grip, and torque very well. I consider its body roll part of the challenge. It won't win any races off the line, but it's still fun. I've driven it to the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic oceans, and the only time I've wanted more power is on steep climbs (8%+) at highway speeds in the Rockies. There's also the joy of exactly matching engine revs on the down shifts. Is your Fusion a manual?

  • @wl2486

    @wl2486

    9 жыл бұрын

    my fusion is not a manual, but it is the 1.6 turbocharged ecoboost engine. 180 horsepower, 185 lb ft torque, but because it's turbo, peak torque is only at 2500 rpm. it's actually quite a good engine, has a good bark to it, and it's very responsive (which is a compliment to the 6 spd automatic also). and i literally can't average under 30 mpg on the highway with it... in fact, 40 is a more realistic number if you set the cruise control to 60 or 55 (something i rarely do here in new jersey haha... but in pennsylvania, where i go to school, it's almost a must as the cops are very aggressive there). i know it's not smart to buy an rs4, i will be graduating with debt, but the automotive romantic in me wants one before they get too old and aren't relevant anymore or are unreliable.
