I upgraded my 2008 Sportsman 500 EFI to a 2015 850 Sportsman SP earlier this year. I love the powerful engine of the new machine and the narrow gas tank area compared to the older machine. But you know what? I think the older Sportsman with the struts like this older design handle a bit better than the newer XP models. Seriously. Plus, they were tough as nails. I only had a few electrical gremlins but nothing serious. I never really felt I needed more power with the 500 H.O. but I wanted a narrower machine, more power just because new machines with larger engines existed, and I wanted power steering. But honestly, a 500 is all anyone really needs unless you are spinning 30" mud tires. Some days I miss my 500 H.O., no joke. By the way, you guys are the best ATV reviewers on the Internet. I always look forward to watching at your videos - they are consistently very well done. Keep up the good work!

I'm not a Polaris fan boy, I like all ATVs, but I gotta say this model has become the mold to all modern flagship models. bravo to Polaris for inspiring the competition AND the industry for that matter

I was wondering how these machines stand up against the likes of Honda and Kawasaki?I have had both;a KVF 360 4x4,and a Honda Recon. Do these 2013 Sportsman 500 HO still use the plastic roller cage in the front differential?

I have a Cfmoto cforce 500. It’s got all of the nice things including power steering a winch and independent rear suspension all at 5,300. It dose ride a bit stiff but it’s better than any solid axel.

Polaris is just as good as any other 4wheeler I love mine its a 2012 400 ho just as reliable as a Honda. hondas might be a little tougher but there 4wd sucks and there slow plus they bottom out so easy my point is if u want just a work horse get a Honda if u want a work horse with speed good ground clearance true 4wd and IRS and a low price with reliability and comfort get a polaris end of story

People say a lot of BS but Polaris delivers the goods. They said at the end of this vid about old technology..... Newer is almost better. They found a good set up and they stick with it. Polaris is on the top and the haters wish they had bought one.

+william chap Polaris sells more offroad vehicles than any other manufacturer. By the numbers it might seems like there are more issues but only because there are so many units out there. I'd like to see percentages and I would wager they are on par with the industry average.

You could never compare Polaris to Honda there is no comparison Polaris in made cheap that's why they always break, i never seen a Honda break yet it just depends on how you drive these machines.Yamaha Grizzly is as reliable as a Honda, these two manufactures are the best in the ATV world but Kymco MXU ATV's are saying different and they might be right.

the grizzly 700 was atv of the year I believe and they know what there doing they are just not trying to go for most hp to make sales id take a Yamaha over a polaris for simple fact ive rode with both and they are both great but the grizz will outlast the sportsman 9 out of 10 times

Suspension travel just like IRS is over rated and throttle response doesn't break the ATV, the rider does along with a cheap product.
