This was (dare I say) my favorite pop-up dinner of all time. It was Gabrielle's storytelling and warmth that took it over the top. She made us feel like we were sitting in her personal kitchen. My favorite line: ' I hope it feels like a hug from your grandma'. Yes, it did.

Awwwww. It actually made me emotional as well. I have a close family, but nothing like the connections she has all the way back to her great grandfather. And to know they all lived on the same land was just really really beautiful. Such a special evening!

I’m still thinking about this dinner - it was truly such a special evening! I loved that all of the food was sourced by local Black farmers - that just made the event even more amazing. I so hope I can grab tickets again next year!

Wasn’t it beautiful?! My favorite parts of the evening were hearing her talk about her family and how they inspired each dish that we were served that evening. Jessica, I just made the time to FINALLY sit and enjoy this video! As usual...it did not disappoint! So many elements of this specific video highlight my childhood and certainly parallel Gabrielle's up bringing! My grandmother had 240 acres in Arkansas, we still have 140 acres left. On that property is a hand made lake which my family still uses to this day. It's filled with perch, specs, catfish and what the call croppies. Now the way I learned to eat fish was to tear out the back fin then you can open the fish and eat the white meaty part on the sides which, is enough for me...but some folks eat the fins and bones! LOL too much for me! My grandmother had a muscadine on the side of her house and we use to climb it and eat the little grape like fruit until we were sick! LOL Now, The chicken and "dumplings" aka macaroni is exactly how I cook y chicken and dumplings! I know you said you may have tasted a hint of dill...I don't use dill but I cook chicken and dumplings very much as was shown there. That was certainly a fun visit!

You’ve lead such an interesting life, with what seems to be amazing experiences and I would love to hear all of your stories. You'll be like "WHAT" that's it! it's a good fall/winter dish! Jessica, I often shelve memories once it's off my Blossom List!
