I would suggest when removing the shield, not to use any nozzle, because then you have the whole heat at the whole shield. For me this works perfectly fine, it is worth a try.

That's fantastic!

Just bought one from Rossmann for $209.99. That's it no tax & free shipping. My Quick still works. It was making a rattling noise and loss of air pressure. It was an easy fix to glue the plastic clear fan disc back on to get it working. Not sure if that's how yours broke.

Hi Jesse. Your channel is really good and I am learning a lot. If I am not wrong the spiral in the nozzle should simulate helical wind and the other should be vertical. It is similar to a Sugon hot air station. One should help with bigger bga. But I guess it does not matter. I prefer curved nozzle too.

Nice review! I have a Quick 861 DE version - 200L/m and I actually don't like that every time I put it back on the stand it speeds up to 200L/m to cool down, I'd rather it keep the set speed. Also I am sometimes doing BGA rework where the handle is on a stand: without an on/off button, my only way to turn the air off is to put a magnet close to the handle to trick the sensor... Great that the feature can be disabled though.

I am wondering what the lowest air flow setting it will let you set when at the highest temperature? With my station that uses a diaphragm pump for air flow. I can be at 480c and at 20% air flow. With my fan in the handle model, which I rarely use. It automatically goes no lower than 50% air flow at 480c. I love my diaphragm pump one. But it is noisy.

I'm using it for past 1.5 years . One time that button got stuck n I repaired it .other than that this machine is awesome .in my point of view it's better than quick

There are 2 types of hot air stations helical wind or straight/vertical wind! The Straight Wind outputs as the name says a straight wind from the Nozzle what allows you to heat a very small area with hot air it can be used for very small parts. The Helical Wind outputs a "Twisted" Wind what heats a larger area with not so pointed heat as the Straight Wind System! Very good for larger Ic's, Nands,... The Quick 861DW is Helical Wind System, the Atten what u have now is Straight Wind but with the Nozzle with this small Spiral inside u can output Helical Wind from your Straight Wind Hot Air Station! U should be able to test it with a Paper when u heat it up with a normal Nozzle u should get a very dark and small burn mark on the paper, with this Helical Nozzle u should get a much bigger and brighter burn mark! I also worked several years with Hot Air stations when i heard this the first time and i worked sometimes with a Straight Hot Air Station but since i got the quick 861DW i just worked everything with this Station and everything works so i sold the other station! This was a very Chip Atten with Ventilator inside the Handle!

@@VCCBoardRepairs exactly, but when u make video some new cowboys think you are a pro, and they follow , there is no shortage of you tube technician in the market who came from fish selling business and start following KZread and thought they can fix phones on level 4. well u get your views earning , but we have to deal with all sort of butchered phones by KZread technician all day long. in fact we have to return half of the job which could have been fixed within the normal budget. hope u get the point.

My st862d V3 hot air station handle button long press cold air mode doesn’t work... it be normal or not...

You need to change nozzle size to save torturing the board so much. You get the same heat over a larger area, so saves a lot of heating time. Karl

I haven't found a use for it.

I bought one and the cold air function long pressing the button on the handle doesn’t work. Does yours ?? I’m thinking if mine might had come with a fault or if it had to do with a new version

The ST-862D hot air station makes my lights flicker like crazy. How do I stop it from doing that? I can't even record a video with my studio lights without getting nauseous from the flicker.

Air flow setting is way too much. Heating element temperature will have to be increased to maintain the same temp at a lower air flow.

This is a horrible station . I sent mine back and bought the best BST instead . Mainly because the buttons on mine kept "Miss firing " the BST is much better in my opinion .

Ah that's weird. I've been using mine for about a year, as well as my technician is also using one. We both love it & have had no issues. As well as everyone else who i've talked to who has one. Maybe you just had a defective unit.
