Atlas Packs Overview - Athlete & Adventure

The Atlas Packs are some amazing bags and loaded with features. In this video, we take a look at both the Athlete and the Adventure packs to help you decide which might be the right one for you.
* Note, I made the mistake of referring to the pouches as the belt and not being removable. They are just pouches, and the full belt is the removable part. Just had the belt on my mind.

12:31 - unbelievable... 😯 the most important zipper in a backpack, and this one is not waterproof... ☹ Thanks to you, I avoided making the wrong choice, thank you very much for this video.

Thank you. They are both great bags. But personally my Go to is the Nya-Evo. TThat bag has everything and the 44-60 expandability is amazing./

I have the original Athlete pack and the side zip pocket is for a hydration bladder. I agree about all the floppy straps, that’s my only complaint too. Otherwise they are perfect.

Love your pack reviews. I don't see mentioned anything about a water reservoir/ hydration bladder. Of all of the packs you have tried, which are your top picks with dedicated spots for a bladder?

Hey Jackie. So most of the time I am not running a bladder. But pretty much all the packs have a space for them. The two bags I use the most are the Nya Evo Fjord series and they have a great system. The Wandrd Fernweh is amazing as well. My go to is the Fjord 60c and my most recent trip I ran a bladder and it worked so well

Do you find the harness system more comfortable on one versus the other? How is the overall carrying comfort?

No they are about the same. Overall is good, but with the Adventure use the belt if you are loaded , that is a big bag and not great with out the extra support. On my last trip with it, I was mainly using it in the truck so I didn't bring the belt, but the one hike I did without it was tiring on the shoulders.

@@mattritscher1930 I believe you did a review of a Shimoda in the past. I was wondering how you compare to two brands. Which did you find more comfortable in terms of hardness/carrying? Thanks!

@@robdonchez Shimoda hands down. They have an amazing harness system. Followed by the Wandrd Duo, then Nya Evo

Very good review. Thanks 500 price tag is a little abusive. I really wanted Athlete, but there is few things what make me think. 1) weight - as carry on is a bit heavy 2) side zippers are potential point of failure 3) ICU should be removable so is you could use inside backpacking bag if you need to I can't find one reason why I will buy this bag over let say F-stop AJNA 37L DuraDiamond 37L .

It is a bit heavy. I think for most people if they have a backpacking bag, they have a dedicated one. My go to bag is still the Nya-Evo Fjord 60c. Its an amazing bag.

IMO this bag carries better (more comfortable) than any of the fstop bags that I own or have previously owned. From my understanding after speaking with the company directly, the built in icu has a lot to do with that (something about greater structural integrity/rigidity). Whatever the reason, I will soon be selling my fstop tilopia duradiamond now that I've picked up this bag.

Nice looking pack but the 500 price tag kind of kills it for me.

Yeah, the high price tags on quality bags is hard to swallow, But the can take a beating and will last linger than the cheaper bags.

Unfortunately, its so damn heavy!! I have the Athlete, and I would prefer the Adventure bag, but the design is so different, and I'm not a fan of it. Laptop compartment is useless and added weight not needed as my laptop doesn't even fit. Its way too padded, which is good, but its so much weight. Its 2-3x heavier than a normal hiking bag. The hip strap has expandable pockets, which is great, but it sucks as they are not removable, which makes using the hip pockets useless, as you cant use them.
