Atlas Pack Comparison and Why It's The BEST Adventure Photography Bag

When it comes to camera bags or bags in general, I would like to think I know a thing or two. Over the years I've had a total of 9 camera bags. Going from one climate, trip, or adventure to the next, I've finally settled on what I firmly believe is the most well-built camera pack of all time, The Atlas Pack. For adventure photographers and videographers, a pack that keeps your gear dry, free of dust, and out of the elements is more than just a necessary component of your kit, it's an absolute must. In this video, I will explain the reasons for choosing the Atlas Pack Athlete as well as do a side-by-side comparison of both of the Atlas packs to help you get a better understanding of the sizes and shapes of each pack, and hopefully help you along in your decision-making process.

I purchased an Atlas Athlete pack almost 5 years ago. The price initially made me wince, but after 5 years of constant use, I don't know why I hesitated. The Athlete pack makes it easy to carry all of the camera gear I need and it's held enough camping gear for me to stay out for a night or two. Like you, I've hauled that bag across mountains, deserts, prairie, marshes, and swamps; through rain, snowstorms, and dust storms. It's taken a lot of abuse but keeps on going. I've tried many other bags, but this is the only one that's survived what I put myself and my gear through. I'm glad you created this video about this amazing bag

Looks like a great pack. I've invested quite a lot into the Peak Design ecosystem, otherwise this is something I'd heavily consider. For my waaaay off the grid hiking and photography adventures, though, I use a Vertx pack that can fit my camera gear and a couple of my firearms. I love to see these gear reviews, both for the OBW and photography. Thanks!

I’m more of a side access landscape photographer who loves hiking, this would hv been the perfect backpack if it had that side access. Do you other similar bag recommendations or tips on how to use this bag if I stop a lot to take photos while hiking?

That makes perfect sense. I've never like side access because I'm always taking my camera out and putting it back in and that became a pain. I use the peak design clip and have my camera attached to my chest strap for easy access and while I hike I keep it locked in place. I quite literally climbed a mountain with the camera strapped to my check in the clip and rappelled down from 500' with no issue. That's my personal work around. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm more accessible on Instagram. Thanks!

I’m already at the point that I have way too many camera bags and too much gear to fit in any single one of them… it’s a vicious cycle. None of them are “just right”, and I really need to trim down to a single backpack, messenger bag, and a carry-on pelican… oh, and my ocf/light-stand bag (that one is pretty much sorted though).
