Been dying to play this one with my boyfriend and our group. I love ocean/aquatic themes and co-ops. I'm entering for sure. Great breakdown--I've enjoyed a lot of your 5 in 5 videos. Great format.

Wow. Looks stunning. I'll be making my way over to the full playthrough by way of the giveaway. Ill be most curious to see how the die rolling works...I love dice but doing nothing can be such a bummer.

To be a bit more explicit, you have 3 or more workers at all player counts. So your chances of losing 100% of your turn are miniscule. But you can sometimes miss with 2 out of 4 actions, and that can be frustrating enough.

Gary Clarkson that’s Colin’s favorite way to play it, with casual groups.

Another great review. Feels like you disected the game perfectly. I've been personally on the verge for this game and I still am sadly. On one hand I love the worker placement and island sinking, but I get so much discouraged by luck in games (I get some terrible luck, especially with dice). I'll have to think about this one a bit more. Thanks for the insights!

SnowDragonka I will note that the luck element is significantly lessened in pure solo mode, because you have a bonus worker that gives a huge boost to rolls. If you are playing solo, it’s something to consider

I love the tight-five format, especially since it's pros and cons. I'd like to know more about overall game play before the five, perhaps.

The intent is for viewers to watch the Playthrough (we almost always have 1-2 for each game we review) if they want to get a sense of what the game looks like in action. The first 5-10 minutes usually give an overview of mechanics and such.

I played this in Essen last year with a group of strangers. We were very unlucky with the misfortunes, we were so devastated some of us believed we played some fundamental rule wrong. But it was just bad luck. Also due to floods and bad dicerolls, more than 50% of our actions did not come to pass. One of the players had jus one successful action out of 10 i think until we decided to stop (he prioritized to aquire new workers and failed his dice roll over and over) . I'm glad to see that we must have had the worst luck ever, because the game looked gorgeous and the theme was right down my alley, but after that play, i was very frustrated.

Possible randomness and lost actions is definitely THE thing that might make the game not work for a group. We discuss this more on an upcoming podcast episode.
