Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana | A Fine Start To Something Wonderful

Ойындар

2023 is shaping up to be a great year for Atelier fans. Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key is coming out later this week, an anime of the first Ryza game is premiering this summer, and then there's the remake of Atelier Marie. With this being one of my favorite game series, it's time I start in on one of my big goals for the channel and review every single entry in the series, starting with the first title released outside of Japan. This'll be a long and winding road, and it all starts here with Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana.

I started with Shallie. I played on hardcore because I'm pretty good at JRPGs, but it ended up being really tough near the end because I hadn't quite learned how the crafting mechanics worked, mostly focusing on just raising up effects on items and not much else. Did a recent replay of it which was a lot of fun because I was now able to fully engage with the crafting due to the 5 other Atelier games I had played.

The bit when oatmeal mixed with cinnamon and honey is symbolized for the main character needing more spice or sweetness was good. It got even better when going into examples of characters from other Atelier games that were either overly nice, stupid, or enthusiastic enough to be memorable. Showing picture art when comparing the characters helped raise my enjoyment of this segment. Not a bad video Hoodlie. You certainly inspire me to give KZread a try one day.

The weapon synthesis is ridiculously powerful in Eternal Mana. Especially adding extra hits to your attacks. After I beat the game the first time I went back and tried to break the synthesis system. I managed to kill Amalgam in one attack by adding 4 extra hits to Arlins sword and using his powerful single target attack skill. The weapon synthesis is really strong in this game when you do it right!

I heard it was, on old message boards and such. I guess I just never found the right components or something.

Atelier was a game series I had heard so much about, but when I looked into the titles it seemed very overwhelming. Though I won't lie, I think I may give this title a shot as an introductory to the franchise

Trust me, it’s better if you just pick up a more recent title. Like Ryza. It’s a better showcase of what the modern games are like.

I could not recomend more, it was my first one, the story is quite nice if you let yourself fall for it, the gameplay is nice(thou not as good as mana khemia 2 who has legit the best and smoothest turn based combat that i ever played), the music has some clear.jams, and some the shop keepers have real neat storys like the funny blonde baker and the magic shop gal, also there is a lovely item collection mechanic that rewards you for discovering itens in sets with music and art pieces and other assets,

I am new to the Atelier series -- having only played through Iris 1 and currently Iris 2. Favorite character from Iris 1 -- Veola with Pamela just right behind her Favorite soundtrack from Iris 1 -- Hagel's song!!!

I have every game in this series, including every Japanese release, special edition, and collectors editions! Statues, figures, music boxes, a pocket watch, and socmuch more! The PS2 era is by far my favorite. The focus on it being an RPG with alchemy instead of an alchemy relationship simulator works way better for me. The late ps3 and early ps4 era is just not great to me.

This is the first Atelier game I played not long after it came out and I've always considered it my favorite. I played and enjoyed the games up to Rorona but just couldn't enjoy the constant time pressure and what I saw at the time as a much less engaging story. Maybe I'd enjoy modern Atelier with a fresh perspective, who knows. I always thought Arlin was pretty good actually; his whole thing is that he has nothing outside his hatred for Mull and even if he gets his revenge his life is pretty much over. You're right about Mull himself though, the man has the personality of wet toilet paper but evil.

I’d recommend trying Ryza if you haven’t yet. No time pressure, improved combat, and there’s a bit more story focus than the series has had since Rorona.

Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana was my first and what awakened my love for the series. Way back in high school, and since then I played the following two in the trilogy + 2 Mana Khemias. I had to give the series pause because I didn't have money for games or the consoles for a long while. Returned to the series recently with Rorona Plus, very close to getting to Platinum, just need the rich ending now. Got Shallie and Escha & Logy waiting in line. I know it's out of order but they're the ones I found for now! Can't wait to try and catch up to more of them.

This was the first one I actually played through in 2015. I thought it was pretty good overall, but mostly average. I had no idea about recurring characters like Pamela and Hagel at the time, so I thought the trilogy was going places that it obviously wasn't. like 2 is the prequel that it is and I thought you'd actually play through Iris's journey from the backstory in #1 and you'd see Pamela when she's alive in #3 . The concept of 'Atelier Iris' itself being a dungeon near the end is really cool though, thats the main thing i remember it for now I think.

Exactly but since Iris was the first ENGLISH game on the series I'm not sure WHICH games first had Pamela/Hagle in them since those games never left Japan. Atelier Marie is going to get a remake but Pamela/Hagel aren't in that one.

Saying the graphics look outdate is stating the obvious. Though if you look at some of the current pixel games claiming they are trying to give a retro feel, hmm..so they aren't outdated visually? We could also go into the art style and direction is more important than photorealistic visuals.

Why did they have to switch from these beautiful fairytale-like, idyllic graphics to the ugly 3D graphics 😭 I will never play anything beyond Atelier Iris and Mana Khemia because I just can not cope with the new style, it feels so cheap.
