The U.K had an empire that covered something like a quarter or perhaps even a third of the globe. That means that English is a very commonly spoken language as a second language. The immigrants choose the UK as they can get a start because they likely speak the language. So it’s not just about the opportunities themselves but because they can communicate. I sincerely hope that Labour rip up a lot of the BS laws the tory party have tried to bring in, have a mature debate about membership of the SM for a start, a mature debate about immigration and sage routes. I for one would support the government if they had safe routes and then allowed people to work whilst their claims are processed.

Is our asylum criteria defined by us (our all-knowing, caring, Parliamentary democracy)? We are obliged by international law to allow asylum seekers to enter the country by any means, 'regular/irregular'. Once here, doesn’t UK law define who is able to stay?

Good point about available jobs. Same goes for illegal immigration from Central America into the US. So it's not a case of legal migration being the problem, the real problem is the whites aren't having enough kids and with the high levels of family breakdown in the UK, it's hardly surprising!!! See, we've identiifed the real issue at the heart of Britain, the breakdown of the family unit which discourages children to grow up and have children themselves. Perhaps educating children on the benefits of strong family values might help to encourage youngsters to have children? Oh can't do that because there's many kids in school who lack parental love!! Population growth in the UK is less than 0.35% year on year. If anything, we desperately need immigration. If we didn't have it we'd be going down. The idea that we can't build enough schools, homes and hospitals in a year to deal with 0.35% more people is totally insane to me.

The insanity been we have enough housing but it is in the wrong places, one example Horden (view a couple of videos of that place) this is replicated all over the north. Then there is the lack of homes in the south, but the rents are astronomically high and can only go higher, with the super rich buying up assets and with a low wage economy then adding in a ever increasing benefit dependant number of refugees. The result being the middle classes vanish as their kids are forced to rent. A government that is bled dry by the super rich not only having to topping up rent but also wages. Change in demographics in neighbourhoods with increased crime , We also have an unsustainable growth in the prison population. YES IT IS UNSUSTAINABLE
