Astros' George Springer finds courage in his stutter to help others | SportsCenter | ESPN Stories
Спорт
The Houston Astros sit with a comfortable lead in their division heading into September, playoff baseball clearly in their sights. One of the catalysts for their success is New Britain, Connecticut’s own George Springer. His power, speed and defensive prowess are something to be marveled. As Jen Lada reports, it is his courage, character and fearlessness that have truly made an impact in the lives of those who stutter.

schmoove Smoove Bro did you not see game 7?? The umps were saying the Astros were throwing balls when they were clearly throwing strikes. That happened atleast 4-5 times. And when the Dodgers were pitching. they were calling balls they were throwing strikes. They were doing that so the Astros wouldn't get EVEN MORE points on the dodgers to completely blow them out. If anything I thought the Astros were gonna lose cause The Dodgers paid off the umps to call bad plays. That explains why Jensen and Puig were SOOOOO sure that the Astros would lose game 7. This is coming from a DIE HARD Cardinals fan. I was neutral on either team. At first i swayed towards the dodgers cause Gurriel did that racist shit (which makes me think that the game was rigged even less since EVERYONE hated that man for the rest of the world series). But i started saying fuck the dodgers on game 7 when those umps started cheating.

Thank you, for letting the world know about your stuttering impairment. To know a world class player like you, who also dealt with stuttering is so uplifting for me and others with the same issue!!
I'm in tears, thank God for humans like him. God bless you George!!
As someone with a stutter this man is an inspiration and he’s one of favorite players
I love stories like this
I saw him speak at the astros parade right there at Houston city hall...i couldn't even tell he stuttered. He has come so far!! Houston loves you georgie!! Thank you for the win!! #mvp
Very inspirational! I am one who stutters and I never knew Springer also stuttered. He is such an inspiration to all people who stutter and I feel like I am not alone in the world. I too have dreams and Springer's dream became a reality. His stuttering did not prevent him from following his dreams and neither should mine.
This sincerely made me cry. I didn't know George had a stutter and it's beautiful to know what he does to help others and how much he's grown and achieved since going through his struggle. Congratulations to the MVP and the World Series Champs, the Houston Astros!

Even tho he’s an Astro, Springer is a pretty awesome guy.
During the World Series I talked shit about him but I didn’t know he had a stuttering problem and learning from this on how he got to where he is I regret or hate myself on hating him. Lessons in life is you should never make fun of people for who they are because later in the future they can become more successful than you.

I’m a NY Yankee fan. I would take him on my team any day.
I know this feeling, it’s terrible. Anyone who bully’s is a monster!
Thank you for posting this video, it is both educational and awe inspiring. I am a lifelong San Francisco Giants fan, but I am a tremendous admirer of this young man George Springer. What dedication and perseverance he displays. I’m not ashamed to say that as a young boy I was given speech therapy, which thankfully helped me immensely. It’s very clear to see that George is a good person and he gives back, especially to the kids who are beginning their own journeys. I applaud him for what he is doing. I will root for him and his ball club this Fall. Maybe his team can make it to and win the World Series. Good luck George.
My stutter has made me really good at knowing synonyms to avoid words I struggle on
This just makes me like the guy even more, he has a ton of talent and the obstacles he had to overcome to get there just make him an even better ball player
Another inspirational Player ! We love you ! You boys are representing our Houston so beautifully I’m so proud of each of them #houstonproud #houstonstrong

What an awesome guy, a true leader in high school, a leader in college, and a unforgettable leader that will always be remembered here in Houston Texas. He is absolutely one of the biggest reasons the Houston Astros won the world series. Something that no one could have ever predicted, talk about leadership at the highest level. This guy is a superstar all around, he deserves nothing but the best and that is exactly what he is achieving in life so far. Wear your new ring with pride my man, no one can take that away from you. History has been made in such an amazing way and during such an amazing time in Houston. What a story
Thanks man you've inspired me, don't care about all that stuff about astros, im just thankful to you

I have a stutter as well. It makes me feel relieved and happy that someone I look up has struggled with the same thing I have. I’m growing out of it tho and I’m glad I am.
I really enjoyed this video. As someone who stutters, it is hard to describe the frustration when the words just won't come out. Now, I am 23 and still stutter. I've learned to control it better, but it is still there and always will be. Thank you George for being such a great ambassador for those who struggle to speak for themselves.
