I’ve only just been going back and watching theories because I feel like there are still sooo many mysteries in the series.

That’s one thing I prefer about the books; more mystery!

I reckon Orwell started the Baudelaire fire as well, because in the scene where Lemony Snicket discusses it with it in the background, there is a little light that starts the fire, meaning the exact same method. And on the eye exam test, you can see images of the ruins of the Baudelaire mansion (3:37). She also could have started the fire in Poultryville as well, as the image she shows Klaus before his own ruins (3:35) looks a lot more like a small town than a house. Although these could be coincidences that are unrelated, but it's still interesting to think about.

That’s a really good theory,and you didn’t even need any book details to prove it! Random fact: when I started watching the series I would always see the Guess starring to see who would die or leave and that would ruin the whole episode for me)

True, it would make sense since they imprisoned the parents in Peru in the first place so if they found out about their escape immediately, that would fit like a glove, but why was there only one of them when they go everywhere together and why would they imprison them in the first place and not burn their house down right away?

When exactly did it happen? The parents flew over lake lachrymose while the baudelaires were drowning with aunt Josephine At the school the Quagmire’s mention they had a guardian before being in Prufrock prep Does this mean the Baudelaires were at the lumber mill for some considerable time? Or were the Quagmires only at their first guardians home and then in the school for one to two weeks before the baudelaires got to the school?

Ooh i really like it. The only thing about it though is that after the Quagmires are orphaned, they get passed around from guardian to guardian, just like the Baudelaires. I don't know how long this happened for or how long of a time period there is in between the Baudelaires leaving Lucky Smells and being sent to Prufrock Prep, but the Quagmires had already been to many guardians and arrived at Prufrock Prep before the Baudelaires. This doesn't disprove your theory, but rather question how much time there was in between The Miserable Mill and the Austere Academy and where all the other characters, such as the Baudelaires and Count Olaf were throughout all of this.

Right? Also when starting the fire the laser beam was on Quinten. We know Georgina had a thing for Gustav and Bertrand so I wouldn't be surprised if she was into Mr. Quagmire too.

I always assumed it was Esme Squalor who burned down the Quagmire mansion...possibly related to the sugar bowl.

In the books there is a hint it was her, but doubt that in the series, she didn't even remember Quagmires' surname 😅

@@JosiahFickinger That's a fact, which would heavily indicate it was her :) But in ep 10 of s2 we saw that was a VFD costume that every VFD agent had, not to mention Esmé didn't seem to own her own VFD stuff anymore

I completely understand this.Has someone wrote a book just about the Quagmires?I think someone should.I'm going to add that on my list of things to write about.

the only one who writes books about ASOUE is Daniel Handler as the author of ASOUE and ATWQ and if he wrote a book about the Quagmires there woudln't be this theory :D

@@jacksweeklymusicreviews3411 in s1e8 we see Georgina at minute 26 in her optometrist office with Olaf and Charles. Then the Q fire scene - after that Klaus goes ot the work hall and Violet tries to stop him from killing Charles. That definitely takes more than 15 minutes in the ASOUE timeline, not to mention the Q mansion was not far from the Lucky Smells.

True.. it was a good discovery! but didn’t Jock(i think that his name) Snicket confirm that there was a survivor of a fire that *Olaf* started and that he believed there was a survivor and the baudelaires thought it was one of their parents but it was actually Quiggly Qaugmire?*

Georgina should meet count Olaf’s mentors (don’t know there names) they would be a great trio

I've just came up with an alternative explanation: Esme Squalor burned down the Quagmire mansion, orphaning the children as a means of helping/appealing to Count Olaf. It's a build up to the Ersatz Elevator

Yeah, but due to the books' chronology she was busy marrying Jerome during the MM events, also if she set Q mansion on fire, why didn't set more fires in thes series? Not to mention I doubt Olaf was cooperating with her at that time, since he was partnering with Georgina carrying out their plans. But these are just theories...

Did u make conclusion on who's burnt down Baudelaire's mansion?

In fact no, I just know who most propably didn't do it, but even with that it could've been anyone - unknown characters, ATWQ characters and so on...

@@amayanapyeer I believe it's Lemony and Olaf themselves lol..Because as u can see Snicket and Olaf are good friend from a pic/furniture in Montgomery house..Lemony dislikes Beatrice as she don't want to marry him. Olaf loathes Beatrice for killing his father. so it could be they both the real imposter..but just my theory

That's a great theory in fact! But Lemony never hated Beatrice, in ASOUE you can see the doesn't hate her even 1/27. ALthough I wouldn't be surprised if the fire was lit by him, as Daniel Handler says, Lemony is an unreliable narrator. + Beatrice wanted to marry Lemony, they almost had wedding, but Lemony got a message his enemies will be there, so he didn't go there (from The unauthorized autobigraphy book) It could've been Count Olaf and maybe his sentence right before the end was just to confuse us. On the other hand he is always proud and boasts about his crimes, wouldn't he boast about starting the fire too or at least admit he started it in his last moments when he didn't have to hide anything? Plus it took him some time to go to Arthur (as Yessica) and persuade him to get the orphans in his clutches. If he was the one to start the fire wouldn't he go to Arthur right away? As we know he's pretty reckless and impatient.

@@amayanapyeer what u means he doesn't go right away to Arthur? Olaf I believed is the first man that came to the Orphans Department affairs..that's why he became the first guardian

yes, but he came to the department day before they were sent to him and due to ASOUE timeline Baudelaires spent several days at Poes' house

It does looks like there were two arsonist at the Baudelaire fire. Two spyglasses rather than one.

Uhm wrong video I guess? Nobody'S talking about the Baudelaire fire here??
