Another piece of evidence could be when the Baudelaire's were about to convince Count Olaf to not shoot Dewey, Mr. Poe came in causing the Baudelaire's and Count Olaf to drop the spear gun and immediately accused them of killing Dewey, when he saw what actually happened then he didn't mention anything during Olaf's trial.

My question is why Poe isn’t getting a kind a demotion losing the children

U still didn't mention, that in S2 we find out that the vfd has been spying on mr poe.

There's also the thing at the end of The End with "the time Mr. Poe was known by his stage name" ...

I really believe Mr Poe is the main villain because he always try putting the kids in the worst situations. Then he doesn’t believe the kids when they proved him wrong many times about the guy in disguise “count Olaf”. Also Poe also accused them for being murders, he also abandoned them when the kids were in jail and even Poe wanted the kids to be on fire. And finally Poe doesn’t really care about the kids, he only cares about them because of the fortune they have. And if u notice in the show he always say “enormous fortune” so he obviously wants there fortune.. (Edit 1) also I really hate hate hate Mr poe wife- she a real a# to the kids-

You didn't mention in The End when the book says "when Mr. Poe was known by his stage name.." Also Poe is just dumb not a villain. Edit: "no real reason to check in" He is the VP of Orphan Affairs

'Poe' was also at the Opera. Was he in VFD? Perhaps he left before the schism? I guess a good question would be, did 'Poe' go to Prufrock Prep?

What about in the first episode of the series,mr.Poe had the Baudelaire orphans stay with him. If he wanted their fortune then he could have adopted them sooner. In fact,he had multiple opportunities to adopt them.

You see, Mr poe has cough from starting fires with count Olaf. The deal is Olaf keeps the fortunes, while Mr poe gets promotions from all the homeless orphans.

So 1 of the last scenes we c poe in S2, he's driving off with the math teacher, whos holding a big bag with $ on it; then 1 of the first scenes we c poe in S3, he's talking about how the bank was just robbed. Very suspicious.

And that would be why he went to those odd locations because he knew that if he got fired he would have enough money to last a lifetime because he stole all the fortunes and Mrs bass would be blamed that's why he told her the lock combination so easily because there was no money left in the safe and he fled to the mountains and he wants his wife to dump him because he doesn't want to share the fortune 😮

What if Mr Poe was actually a member of VFD but went by the name of somebody else. But when the schism occurred he took the fire starting side. When Esme vowed that Beatrice would die because of the sugar bowl he decided to work with her. But after time this was forgotten and Beatrice and Bertrand started a family. As did Poe. He became a banker and left his old life behind. When the house is burned, Pie realises that the sugar bowl is no longer in the hands of Beatrice and Bertrand, so he looks towards their fortune. After all, they lived in a mansion and he just a small townhouse. When he is placed in charge of the Baudelaires he is delighted and yeah... that’s all I have so far... 😁

You didn't mention how Poe basically killed Dewey and framed the Baudelaires for it. Also in the first part, you didn't mention him twice preventing Olaf from being captured in the vile village by the villagers at the end.

There are other references to Shakespeare in A Series of Unfortunate Events (such as Alonso from "The Tempest" in the final episode), so perhaps Poe is a character inspired by Hamlet.

I don’t think mr Poe has wanted it since the beginning because since he was the president in charge of orphan affairs he could have just brought the Baudelaires to his home

The reason Poe knew where the last safe place was because Justice Strouse invited everyone that knew the Bodelares.

i know this is late but...... i dicided to rewatch the season a few days ago and i finished it now and if u look closely in Season 3 Episode 7(The End) when count olaf got shot with the poison dart, u see poe walking

A very furtive discourse and one that requires additional pondering 🤔. I know Handler/Snicket was intimately involved in ASOUE and must have been okay with the deviations from canon. Has he ever spoken out about the backstories of the main characters especially the history before Violet was born? I find myself curious about how he would respond to this theory. The timing of the slippery slope confuses me the most. It must take an average few hours to get to the city to a specific location of the Hinterlands. How close are the Mountains to the city? There's the cliffhanger and whilst Olaf travels up the mountains Kit is down in Caligari Carnival as it burns and Kit reaches the Mountains before Olaf(I haven't seen the SS in three years so my memory may alter). Also, when did the Duchess of Winnipeg die and surely the Daily Punctilio would report it? If the D of W died in the evening of the VV then the news would be sent on the first day of HH. The heir to a throne usually has a mourning period between death and coronation and I wouldn't expect Jacqueline to be coronated during the CC if her mum died in the HH.

So i did some research, it actually said "Mr. Lemony actually made a secret scene in Book 12/ Penultimate Peril that Mr. Poe actually dies by a harpoon gun." I don't think this is true guys

I think its figurative. The Poe’s are Our media and our financial system. The kids got into trouble everytime a story about the events was in the newspaper. ‘Its in the paper so its true.’ We trust also on our media even if its not the real facts. Poe is powerful because he has money, like in real life the real power is in hands of capitalism. So I think the Poe’s are the power of money and the power of the media. Both are manipulated by Olaf and he could possibly manipulate them because they were some sort of hence men to Olaf. Thats why Poe is mentioned as being a stage name.

and also in the book an un authorized autobiography it says something about the villains manipulating the media/newspaper if I find the page I will edit my comment

poe is also the only character who says that the Fortune cant be touch until violet is 16 even though the Baudelaire parents care about their kids they would definitely set up an account too take care of them financially if they die

Mr. Poe is basically ASOUE's equivalent of Jar Jar Binks in "Star Wars" (including the "Darth Jar Jar" theory).

Mr Poe didn’t listen to the Baudelaires. He only worries about getting a promotion. He could never recognize Count Olaf even though the disguise could not cover up his identity. I think that he only cares about his job. If you think I’m wrong, it’s okay.

Mr Poe isn’t the villain. People think he is, but he’s just trying to help. He doesn’t know much about vfd or anything about their parents. He is just winded and confused about everything going on and doesn’t know what to do.
