Few years ago I went to Malaysia for a holiday, during my visit to Ipoh, I met a taxi driver with an unusually dark complexion and curly hair, I asked him where did he came from, he replied that he's born in Malaysia, I asked him does he have African ancestry. He replied that he doesn't have African ancestry, instead, he told me that he's a Semang and he explained me what is Semang, I was quite surprised by his statement that the Semang people and other Aslian tribes was the very indigenous tribe of Malaysia.

excellent videography. Congratulations to you and your team for highlighting this. Ive visited many orang Asli villages - their living conditions are so poor and unhygienic. They don't have access to schooling. To me they are our greatest treasures. Their knowledge of the forest is so precious yet we do not value it and we put their homes in danger. We need more of your energy!

Amazing job and thank you for sharing it. :) You are so right: no matter what we are all humans, not more nor less. The beauty of this world is our diversity. Orang Asli and Native Peoples in general have such a extensive amount of knowledge and we can learn a tremendous amount of things from their way of life for our own daily well-being. It is so sad that these ancestral and fundamental cultures are disappearing under the reason that they are fond "primitive". We should take it the other way around: what can we be taught? Maybe they are the ones that have the key for a better future for us and our planet... Afterall, they have survived for thousands of years.

Zarissa, well done. This documentary brought to life issues and topics that we might be aware of but don't really think about. Thank you. It was 20 minutes well spent this morning. Thoroughly enjoyable on top of being educational. Did you like this Documentary? Absolutely. - Which part did you find most enjoyable to watch? For me the interviews were most enjoyable. Well done finding and probing them. I like the fact that their answers pulled no punches when it came to effectiveness and the methods by the people who are meant to help them. - Did you find this video visually appealing? Yes. Nice combination of interviews and observational moments. - Was the message or moral clearly conveyed? Yes. For me personally your message boils down to the matter of respect. The lack of respect that we have shown towards the Orang Asli community reveals such a huge lacking in the rest of society. - Do you think there is anything I could have improved? Leave out the shots of Zaki. That spoils it for me.

Fantastic work Zarissa! - Did you like this Documentary?: Very much, I love your choice to highlight the Orang Asli. - Which part did you find most enjoyable to watch?: the angles in which you captured the nuance of the different lifestyles - Did you find this video visually appealing?: Absolutely. I love the boat circling on the river, and the city scenes really epitomized the hustle and bustle. Great cinematography overall. - Was the message or moral clearly conveyed?: Yes, it is a deep and meaningful exploration of what life means and who determines? There is compassion and critical thinking. Wonderful. - Do you think there is anything I could have improved?: The vocalization could be clearer at certain points to give more impact. Listen to how Morgan Freeman or Oprah speak. Singing and theater lessons could enhance your skills to grab the audience even more!

@@agusbeckham498 Yes some Malays were originally from other islands (now Indonesia) but some Malays are still originally from here.We need to remember that before Malacca/Srivijaya kingdom exist,we dont call ourselves as Malays yet because that time we had our own ethnic groups. We only started calling ourselves as Malays during Srivijaya/Malacca kingdom era.You can read about “Malayisation” process to know more about this. I can kinda say that the history of how we became Malay ethnic group is the same with the history of how Hakka,Canton and others became Han ethnic group which is all because of the king and kingdom.

Awesome work Zarissa. - Did you like this Documentary?Yes, I did.- Which part did you find most enjoyable to watch? The intimate shots of the Orang Asli and the beautiful cut away shots. - Did you find this video visually appealing?Yes, I did because of the intimate cutaway shots.- Was the message or moral clearly conveyed?I think it provided an insight into a complex problem that a lot of people choose to ignore. So a definite yes. - Do you think there is anything I could have improved? It’s a heavy subject matter, that perhaps needs the POV of the Government Agencies involved and Ministries. Questions and opinions derived from your investigative efforts should be put forth in an interview.

These Heavenly people are similar to the Palestinians in Palestine. The so-called 'Modern' civilization of socialist apartheid we live in has wiped out a vast majority of indigenous people worldwide. I really hope the native tribes like Orang Asli will survive and live on their way. I also think that if we only stop cutting the rainforest they can live how they want, how they have chosen. The forest is their home. Thanks Zarissa for your engedgment and sharing your work. Just ONE THING, an important thing, what struck me... is the "gifts" in the plastic (sic!) bags.. Brrr... Do not bring the plastic stuffs to the forest! Maybe it looks innocently for you, but it's harmful to the nature. Never do it again PLEASE.
