In my very upper-middle suburban neighborhood, most of the stay at home moms are alcoholics, dealing with abusive husbands, are taking their kid's ADHD meds or are cheating. I would hate that life.

@@apeiceofmoldedclay Yeah I am in the south. These women show up to sporting and school events with their Stanley cups full of vodka, hats, sunglasses and long sleeves to cover their bruises, stumble around giggling like they are in middle school and flirt/sleep with everyone under the sun. They are the ones who speak the loudest and create drama when there is none simply to get attention. I have been on school boards and volunteered my time enough over the years to be able to call this out with confidence - but not that it's a great thing. I think it's sad. It may not be in your neck of the woods but I know it's out there more than you think. These women would have been better off getting jobs or hobbies outside of the home so that they could have more confidence and pride in themselves. This is what our kids would be better off seeing. Not the disaster in their homes they I know they secretly and shamefully carry.

I wanted to raise my own children myself so I was a SAHM for about 10 years. I was also in school during that time and now I work remotely. It’s nice because I’m still home when my kids get off the bus from school but I also get the mental stimulation that I need and can contribute to the household finances. My husband is an amazing trustworthy man that has always provided for me and our children. He has never had a problem with me being a SAHM and is my biggest supporter. ❤ I think that every household needs different things and there is no one size fits all when it comes to running a household and raising a family. At the end of the day you do what you need to do.

Never would did I think i would be a stay at home mom. After having kids, I changed my mind. It has made our lives so much better. We could have a bigger house, better vacations, etc, but our family life and family harmony is priceless. Many days I miss it, but not one I regret it.

I was a stay-at-home mom for 10 years and have returned to working outside of the home now that my children are older. I don't regret my decision to stay home and I'm grateful my husband made it possible. For those that have any type of income/ stipend or part time jobs, I'd suggest putting some money in an IRA so that your retirement doesn't suffer from sacrificing for your family.

If a woman can stay at home, the value that brings to the family is immeasurable. Nobody can love and care for your family like you can. No nanny, no grandparent, nobody can bring the magic a mother can. Money comes and goes, but childhood memories and a happy home last forever. A strong man takes pride in the fact he can provide for his family and have his wife care for everyone.

I started working at a relatively young age so now that I’m in my very late 30’s and have small children, I am a SAHM and prefer it this way. No one will raise and care for my children and family like I can. After all, children only get to be kids for a short time and it goes by quickly, it’s invaluable. A career is always available to pursue whenever you decide is best. Given the right spouse that can provide stability for the family I believe SAHM is best at least when your kids are young.

A woman's eggs begin their decline at the age of 30 and serious risks begin at 35 such as c sections, autism & down syndrome in your children, mortality for the mothers, losing the ability have children etc. IVF treatments are expensive like 20k-30k usd and freezing your eggs isn't guaranteed to work either while this option is also expensive. Women can have a healthy pregnancy after 35 but they're rolling the dice and gambling for that chance, its still very risky. So really a woman's biology says their 20's is the best time for women to have children, they should be done with school by the age of 21 leaving them time to start families.

Most of my buddies make plenty of money off one income. But it seems like a lot of people aren’t content and would rather allow Nannie’s to raise their kids. Pretty sad. If you don’t have kids yeah both people can work no problem. But to me no amount of money can will take importance on the livelihood of my children. Make more money to hire baby sitters for date nights and vacations. Not two $900 car payments and be house broke.

Traditional women are in demand in the U.S. so much so that men are flying overseas to countries such as Thailand, Philippines, Columbia etc. to find and wife them since traditional family oriented women are more common in those countries. We just don’t get the same satisfaction from pursuing a career. I enjoy my job and using my brain. But it’s just a job. I truly would love to have the option to be in the home more and focus on a family. But there’s no way I’d be lazy with it! I need to be busy and active.

@@brittneythompson7218It was feminists who convinced hoards of women to join the work force and that contributed to the increase in the cost of living. Not only do you have to pay for day care since both spouses are working but duel incomes means couples can bid higher on homes which drives up the cost of housing. Having the right to work is all fine and good but bullying and pressuring women into it is absurd. They're trying to pressure Indian women in India to join the work force and when that happens India will join every other developed country in experiencing population decline.

I wish I had a choice. But most of my girlfriends are working hard to survive, pushing 40, a family is no longer in the cards for us. Majority of men these days can’t afford to take care of the family. And I do have a partner, but a child will simply ruin our financial stability.

This is a tough one, I believe when a mom is home running the household that is invaluable to a family. However, I have seen friends that have been out of the work force for 15 years going through a divorce or their husband passes away or is sick and cannot work. I know you cannot live life based on "what ifs" but I have seen it and its scary. I have always made my own living so it's hard imagining myself not doing so.

It ridiculous not to voice the risk. Nothing about jealousy! I wish staying at home was an every women option in the perfect world, where people didn't cheat, get ill or die. But life can happen. Its wrong/ ridiculous not talking about both sides of the same coin. My mum was a stay at home mother twice! Ive seen it growing up.

I’ve done both and prefer a combination. Part time work that is flexible for me to still raise my kids and be available for school stuff, when they are sick, or just want to spend the day with me. Being a 100% SAMH was great but I lost my identity and sense of independence. 100% work made me feel like I wasn’t doing enough for my kids. Fortunately I’m blessed to have the option but understand that isn’t realistic for everyone.

I’d rather stay at home and raise my children. I feel like in some way it is difficult to ask any of these women what they’d prefer if they have yet to have kids. Even while pregnant you can plan to go back to work at a certain point PP but once you have your baby you can change your mind completely. Also for the women saying they’d rather be independent, that’s all well and good, but having a man that truly has your back and you KNOW he has your back and supports you, you will not WANT to be independent, you feel safe knowing you can rely on him. That’s just my own experience 🤷🏽‍♀️

Nursing is hard on your body and your emotions but One thing it's good for is there is virtually NO stigma for being all different kinds of nurses. You can switch to every kind if you get the on-the-job training or special certificate. No one thinks bad of you for switching it up. I have a cousin who's done neo natal to Hospice to Surgical and no one's blinked an eye. Whatever job y'all do please young people, buy yourselves IRA's. I'm getting me some as my dear hubby works his last. I don't even care about the tax break anymore. I'm just piling up extra that no one can get from ya in lawsuits or so I've been told. ( Except the IRS ). We should've been buying more of them for each of us.

The only time I can think of when somebody would file lawsuits against nurses and doctors is if they weren't doing their jobs right or made a fatal mistake. This is why I choose to eat right and exercise to take care of my own health because I simply do not trust medical professionals.

Business owners work longer hours than normal 9 to 5 employees. You can pursue business when your children are grown but you'll still have to put in those long hours which can hurt your marriage. To spend less hours in your business means giving up equity to partners to run the business which means less equity for you and maybe less earnings also and there's always the risk of getting screwed by your business partners. Nobody can have it all, there are pros and cons and give and take to everything. People have to choose what's more important to them.

If you're both working neither of you will have enough time to spend with your children and raise them. Your cost of living will go up as you'll have to pay for daycare and because you have duel incomes you'll be able to bid more on homes which drives up the price of housing for everyone raising the general cost of living. Also, if you spoil your children you're going to raise terrible human beings who will cause problems for the public.
