Asking Strangers to Get Matching Tattoos

Ойын-сауық

At Discover Connection we make videos that explore the power of human connection. So I decided to ask strangers to get matching tattoos with me, but not just any tattoo.. I asked them to get my face tattooed on their body and I get their face tattooed on mine. All to see if we could make a genuine friendship out of something this crazy!

Lol honestly I’d happily get a photo of a stranger tattooed on my body if they done the same thing, I already have many tattoos so it’s an easy decision.. But I don’t know about allowing someone into my home.. my neighbour robbed us once lol, no joke, so I’d probably do the tattoo before the dinner

You can get a tattoo of whatever you want, but for those looking for justification and meaning, this is an incredible once in a lifetime experience that will outlive even the ink itself. If a tattoo had to mean something or be important, it doesn't get any more real than this.

Tattoo artists agree generally that friend tattoos aren’t a bad idea, even if the friendship fades, the memories last. Breakups often don’t end so well, so many coverups are done for exes. This was a brilliant experience with a lot of meaning even if it was a single serving friendship.

@@Rumym8 Absolutely. I did an internship at a tattoo shop. I went to college and studied art and was debating becoming a tattoo artist after I graduated. I’d honestly never recommend getting a tattoo of a friendship or relationship under most any circumstance, even marriages. Tattoo artists make bank on relationship cover ups and they generally hate doing them. The only time I’d say 100% that someone should get a tattoo related to a person is if a person has passed away. I have still seen people want to get those taken off, but generally I would support that decision.

I like that the dad said a tattoo should be something super meaningful and I understand he doesn't think a stranger fills that requirement, but imagine what the world would look like if they did. If we thought the lives and well-being of perfect strangers was so important that we wouldn't mind having their faces tattooed on our bodies. I'd love to live in that world.

I have no idea why this popped up for me, as I've never seen this before, but this was amazing! Instant subscribe! As a 55 year old woman, I feel to compelled to say to Brad's parents that his tattoo DOES have meaning. Whenever he looks at it, it is going to remind him of a crazy quest he set out on and how stupidly quick he found somebody just as open to the experience as he was to take him up on it. He's made a lifelong friend, I guarantee it. They've shared stories and some of their favorite things in life with one another. They've bonded. Seriously, what more meaning could you want a tattoo to have than all of that? It is a wonderful momento. And, on the outside chance he regrets it later, there is always laser or a coverup as options. I think this was one risk that paid off in spades!

To Brad's parents, You raised an awesome son. Also, as you can tell by the comments from this video and by the community he's building, your comment about the concept of the video, who would want to see it and also the concept behind the tattoo aged like rank cheese, and as both a son and a father, I'm glad he proved you wrong, respectfully (even though he wasn't trying to do that at all.) As a Dad, I completely relate to your fears, your thoughts and also your reasoning behind why'd you react in such a way. But as a son and a fellow millennial, the meaning behind the tattoo, the connection, story and emotions behind the tattoo far outweigh the fear of what is being put on our body. We have also grown up in a time where removing tattoos are also possible. I hope you saw the true meaning behind this tattoo and this video project in its truest form and meaning. If not though, that's OK as well. Just know that he and y'all have a community that supports your son and that think just like he does - love over fear, experience over explanation, and that kindness creates connections that will outlast the test of time, and ink. And if you still don't think so, Light & love ❤ A fan from Australia 🤝🏾

I love this. People shouldn’t take life so seriously! Your body is just gonna be rotting in the ground one day anyway, so while you still have it you should do what you want with it that fills you with joy, like tattoos or colored hair or crazy clothes that people judge for and stifles peoples uniqueness and creativity! Life is short enough, fill it with things that make you happy and create memories. On your deathbed are you more likely to say “i regret that drawing on my skin” or “im so glad i took a leap to create that experience and memory”

I just found your channel today, I started with a couple cooking for strangers video's, then watched the entire hitchhiking America in 30 days series and now this one, I just want to say these videos are very inspiring and I want to be a more open outgoing person, I can at times but tend to get wrapped up in my own shit and start being negative at times. I hope you and Geran became good friends after this and keep up the good work, you got a follow for life now.

This warms my hearttttt. I was smiling throughout the whole vid. I love all forms of connecting and breaking up the “norm”. Love so much you both making that step to get to know a stranger on such a way. Rad rock on!💗

This video is the best one that shows that things people are wonderful. I love that it was so easy to find someone and surprised that the biggest "problem" was that your parents didn't like it but still they respected what you wanted.

You are very lucky to find that guy that in the same moment said yes to the tattoo, and yes watching everything i agree with his mom - he was a unique soul, he is in another state of mind, love it, and plus he is handsome.

Man, your videos are just so inspirational. Every single video of yours that I’ve seen has just truly rocked my world. The fact that 2 strangers would just willingly tattoo each other face on themselves is just baffling. Please keep up the amazing work, it’s definitely not going unnoticed ❤️

I've literally watched about 8 videos back to back and this is the only one I'm commenting on. I love what you do and it sucks that your parents don't necessarily agree with your actions. It doesn't mean they're bad people but I felt this on a different level. So many times I wish my parents and relatives would let go of and think outside of the box verses how they were brought up. I love them nonetheless but it makes me sad to known that unhealthy generational cycles have trickled to so many eras. My Dad recently told me that his cure to this is just to accept folks for who they are but it still hurts and tugs at a few of my heartstrings. Continue to do what you are doing. You've given me back my hope in humanity and I love you guys 🥰

This might be the best thing I've watched ever. Your both such warm souls. It makes me so happy to think there are people like this in the world. I enjoyed the bonding experience and the coming together of randoms. It just makes you feel that invisible string of connection we all have between us. It's easy to feel disconnected but if you just give that string a little tug... it's attached. How cool to have a tatt to represent that. Could that be any more meaningful? It could have been any face whatsoever, but the two faces were 2 amazing humans. But maybe we all are in our ways. Beautiful video. I'm a huge fan. The artistry of the tattooist.. insane. You never know what's in a persons heart, sometimes just ask.

this video was amazing and I truly do love what you did! as a fellow tatted individual, I see no wrong in tattoos and I even got my mom her very first tattoos ever from a childhood friend of mine who has done all of my own personal work. through our experience of tattoos we have grown a stronger and deeper connection which we can always look back upon and even tell others about, which is always what tattoos are meant to do. they are meant to be reminders of what we like, who we are, and what we are willing to show others that we represent and stand for. if you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything, and it is better to be judged and live your life happily than be judged and live it in regret.
