I Invited 50 Strangers to My Christmas Dinner

Ойын-сауық

Last year I was alone for Christmas and it was one of the worst feelings to experience. And being alone for Christmas is something that no one should ever have to experience. So this year I had the idea to spend my holidays by having Christmas dinner with 50 strangers.
This event was about genuine human connection. Tbh having my Christmas dinner with strangers genuinely turned out to be the happiest Christmas I have ever had! I really hope that next year this can inspire you for some Christmas ideas for 2020!
Huge thank you to all of the people who supported the event:

Last year I moved out out to a big city for a new job and couldn't come home to visit until well into January. I worked all day Christmas, where we had a pot-luck for lunch, which was awesome. But I got out that night and was driving home looking for somewhere to just grab some food and saw an Indian Restaurant PACKED with cars. So I went in and got some Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan at the bar, and met a ton of new friends old and young just there at a place open on Christmas Night. It was amazing sharing some drinks and great food and sharing stories about why we were away from everyone that year. I called my family that night and they were SO happy to hear I made something special and new out of the night even though I couldn't be home. There is nothing like being with family and friends for the Holidays, but there is also something uniquely special about making an amazing night out of something that could just be at your apartment alone, and it takes a community and a bit of courage to go out and do that. I'll never forget that Christmas.

Usually, a child going full no-contact has more to do with how the parent behaved towards them than anything else. Regardless, I hope you can find it in yourself to find a community to spend holidays going with forward, after some introspection; if you realize what pushed him away, you can change those behaviors, and connect more easily with more people. I really, truly hope you find it within yourself to change, grow, and connect. Strangers are only strangers until you get to know them. Much love and peace to you during the upcoming holidays.

I saw my nephew do this with my sister, and she says the same thing as you… that she doesn’t know why etc Yet he has outright said exactly what is wrong and she refuses to listen or believe him. She brushes him off as if he’s making a big deal of things. She is disrespectful with his choices and tries to control him - and everyone else - which is why she is now alone. All I’m saying to you is, be honest with yourself and go digging. Really look at yourself and find patterns of behaviour. Get really humble, write him a letter and apologise for all your mistakes and that you want to listen and really hear his heart… He would have said why, perhaps you ignored him or brushed off his concern’s because they don’t matter to you? Kids don’t just do drastic things like that for no reason

I wanted to write more...but i have some tears.. My dad died in October almost 3 months ago. He was a poor Greek old man 74 years old well know in his region from his profession (he was a fishmonger and selling fish with his track to the area) and his fan character. The last 5 years i live in England (45 years old now), and i was supporting financially my parents however i could. The point is that when my dad died hundreds of people was calling to my mom for condolences and then we discover that my dad was taking his money (50 euros or less..) for shoping and was buying meat and vegies for poor people that he knew in other villages. He never ever said something to anybody. We found out now. I couldn't be in the funeral, didn't say a proper good bye whet. Dad i love you. Panos.

Stuff like this really dispels that detached and isolated feeling I get when I think about strangers. The world is more beautiful than I think and the people in it can be wholesome. Also, it's absolutely AMAZING that Kerry from the previous video helped get the word out. It goes to show that small acts of kindness and making a connection with a stranger one day can ripple out to help you later. So much good feels.

These videos really just get to me man. I love seeing strangers come together to celebrate not just a holiday, but togetherness. These types of moments are how lifelong friends are made in my opinion, and I am so glad that these people were not alone on Christmas after all. And honestly I felt so bad for the guy who said his parents were vacationing in China. I could tell he was holding back some pain. Glad he got to eat a great meal instead of McDonald's! Thanks for all these wonderful videos you upload.

I wanted to comment again to just mention my mad love and respect to the kitchen crew. I know full well just how hard it can be in the kitchen because you're always in the background while people get to enjoy your passion. It's so amazing to see chefs and cooks that are still passionate about their craft. You can tell they're plenty happy just seeing people enjoy their food. They even worked in the holidays for free. Seriously, I wish for nothing but success and good fortune for the kitchen staff and the maker of this video. PS. Bless whomever the dishwasher(s) were.

The kitchen staff were AMAZING! They honestly we're the real MVP's of this event, they cooked and cleaned everything! One of them had his family at home waiting for him, and his wife has a kid on the way. Yet he still decided to donate his time to help put this together :)

I’ve worked in the industry for 7 years and I can only imagine the joy I would have cooking for all these people. I knew when homeboy was peeking from the kitchen into the dining room that his heart was full. Cooking for an event like this would make me so freaking happy, I’m honestly jealous of the cooks lol I’ve never had an opportunity like this unfortunately
