ABOUT VEDANTA
Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions.
ABOUT US
Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

    Someone ask everything is a only awareness then why this bodymind and world and then swamiji told that's a Maya of awareness or Maya in awareness but I guess many more still can't recognize it So this is a final explanation of it please read And someone in touched with Swamiji please send this to him You have eyes but nothings have to see , you have ears but nothings have to hear , you have nose but nothings have to smell , you have skin but nothings have to feel , you have test but nothings have to eat or testing , you have mind but nothings have to thinking or working , you have legs but no space for use it , you have hands but nothings have to lift or work It is also apply for the awareness You have awareness but nothings have to use it So because of the bodymind and world you can feel or use the awareness for it functions Or because of the awareness you can feel or use bodymind and world And that's called non duality One things is present because of the other things is present but without one there is no other things And that's one is non other then The Awareness

    @@deependrarathore283 i was opened up to the ideas of hindu spirituality by listening to duncan trussel, who referenced the bhagavad gita in one of his podcasts. what he said had really resonated with me so i began researching the gita, the upanishads, and then stumbled across advaita vedanta, and then all of swami sarvapriyananda's videos on youtube! i was 18 when this started and i'm 21 now. i've only sat down to meditate a handful of times and need to do it more. swami is a great teacher, and his ability to translate concepts is phenomenal so i spend a lot of time listening to him.

    😇 Perfect answers to questions we all have! Thank you Swami-ji. What is amazing is that we can listen to the same explanation over & over again for many years but our understanding is a Spiritual journey that takes time & effort. We experience some progress, then some lapses. More effort in trying to understand, 'I am Sat, Cit, Ananda'. Almost there! Then like in a game of snakes & ladders we find ourselves back to SQUARE ONE! Then one day, suddenly, almost without effort there is clarity! Will this clarity diminish or disappear? One can only hope that ignorance has been totally removed by the GURU!

    Dear Swamiji, thank you for your answers. For 2nd and 3rd question, it's a cyclic universe. It manifests and goes back to potential. When it goes back to potential, the samsara exists in a seed state waiting to spring back into a manifestation. This answers "why" part of the question. This process is explained by swami vivekananda in great detail.

  • @rsr9200

    @rsr9200

    3 жыл бұрын

    I found Swami Saravpriyananda's answers to both those questions logically sound. The explanation you are proposing as an alternative begs the question "why is it a cyclic universe?" i.e., what is the cause of its cyclic nature?

  • @sharauro

    @sharauro

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@rsr9200 As per cosmology in Sanathana Dharma, the samsara goes through the process of creation, expansion, recession and finally dissolution. Samsara here includes both the material and non-material world's. The material universe manifested is the effect for which the cause is the sum total of all jiva's karmas, samskaras. The material universe solely exists for experience of the jiva's past karmas. Lesser the samskara's, lesser do we "experience" the world and it's effects. The expansion is directly proportional to the sum total of ignorance in the world. When it reaches a point where there is no possibility of a single Jiva to be liberated, universe recession begins and ends with a dissolution where all material, mental forces go back to potential. This is called as the night of Brahma. After a night of Brahma, this potential strikes on what is known as "aaksha" to create the non-material universe first and the the material universe. This cycle continues infinitely until each and every Jiva is free.

    @@sharauro As a practicing Advaitin, I have no problems accepting the cosmology you describe from the empirical level of reality we experience. However, the outstanding question which remains unaddressed with this cosmology is "What is the cause of the very first cycle?". This is not a new question since this has been raised and discussed in various Advaitic texts and the answers that Swami Sarvapriyananda provided address this question logically, but from the perspective of absolute reality.

    Today is ekadashi - the 11th day of the lunar fortnight. It is a good day to worship and have joy in Shree Narayan = Bhagwan Vishnu = Shree Ram = Shree Krishna = Shree Ramakrishna. Shree Ramakrishna is the closest to us. He won't even have to snap his fingers to give us full liberation and all the knowledge. He is incredibly powerful. In fact a suitable aarti for Sri Ramakrishna is "Om jai jagadish hare". You see, the cult leader never understood, or had faith in Sri Ramakrishna, so he started with a shiva aarti, om jai shiv omkara, and later wrote the current non-dual mumbo-jambo one that makes one all asleep. 59.40... Swamiji mentions about His rev Shankaracharya of Puri, Swami Nishchalananda Saraswati. A great mind indeed and a great proponent of Shankara Vedanta. His talks are mostly in Hindi, with lots of Q&A. Google him, watch his website/ youtube site Govardhan Math, Puri.

    Pranam swamiji.. your words are wisdom.. i have a confusion though you rightly said if we keep listening to all the other questions and answers we might get cleared with doubts. So far i have understood that everything is chetan , the bramh.. which is advait , that means there is no other thing in universe then the one bramh .. everything else is superimposed on it, nothing is real like in dream , ... my confusion is... from where did the maya ( superimposed world ) come , the panch tatvas , along side keeping in mind that no vikaar(change ) can happen in bramh...

    Answering in case this helps: The Maya and the panch tattvas are also a manifestation of Brahman itself. In our everyday world, everything happens because of causality. The effect is produced because of a cause, the table (effect) exists because of the wood (cause) but however in the case of Brahman if everything is one, i.e. (if the table is no different from the wood), the cause and the effect are one - which means that there is no effect and no cause, only being/presence* (the wood only is, in this case) Coming to the question, if you ask how Maya has come about, that is simply to where why is there causality? Why is there a why? Brahman exceeds or is beyond causality, it is not bound by questions and answers or cause and effect, therefore, it is not something that is reasonable to find, simply the trick of a mind that views the world through the lens of cause and effect, that wants to know the answer. The truth is, it is the manifestation is an illusion, Brahman is all there is. Hope this helps :)

    @@pranavsivakumar5338 thank you very much .. i am eternally grateful for replying to my non ending confusion by which i mean it did help to some extent but i m not finding it easy to gulp ... no question further is a full stop to know more and i am sure i have not known all that i want to know , to learn , to experience.. definitely my inability.. i ll keep trying. Having said that i still want to question that everything else about bramhan is I could understand , now after 5 years of study .. could little bit relate also but this one thing of non duality as in there is no other thing then brahman and then having, experiencing maya, agyan all the time doesn’t fit into my thick head .. bramhan tatva we can not perceive .. understood , its menifestation in everything understood it is being nirlipt understood , akarta also is understandable .. and maya being illusion is also relatable but why at all it happened ..how if not why .. this question will bother me until great gyani beings like you will not find a way more befitting . Thank you 🙏🏻

    All separation is based on images. There are images about myself, about the universe and about God. Image, concept, idea, reprsentation, is not the thing itself. There is no division between the form and the non-form.There is no division in the appearances - trees, birds, humans. I evaluate each one of them, using knowlwdge, which is always incomplete. Based on these evaluations, measurementes, I imaginarily separate the indivisible. "Maya" means "to measure, to evaluate". When I confound the evaluation for the thing itself, I am living in illusion.
