What Comes To Us When We Reach Enlightenment - Swami Sarvapriyananda

Ойын-сауық

#advaita #vedanta #sarvapriyananda
In this discourse, Swami Sarvapriyananda explores the distinction between knowledge and action in the spiritual journey, drawing upon a story from Swami Atma Priyanandaji's early days as a monk. The teacher, Swami Mukhyanandaji, emphasized the difference between knowing the fact "the grass is green" and performing an action like "get me a glass of water." Swami Sarvapriyananda extends this analogy to highlight the spiritual path, asserting that it is not a physical or temporal journey but a realization of one's true self in Advaita Vedanta.
The central theme revolves around the challenge of realizing the self, which is not an object of knowledge but the pure subject. The discourse addresses the common misconception that self-knowledge is about understanding oneself as an object, similar to knowledge of external entities. Instead, Vedanta serves as a mirror reflecting the true nature of the self, enabling one to recognize their identity as Brahman. Swami Sarvapriyananda emphasizes the self's self-luminous and ever-present nature, urging individuals to use Vedanta as the tool for self-realization and transcendence of suffering.

I have watched the video. But it doesn't seem like the next part. Swamiji isn't discussing the vedanta mirror that he had talked about. Please provide in which 'Vedanta is that Mirror' concept is discussed.

The real reason for finding enlightenment should be an altruistic sympathy and compassion for all who suffer because Compassion is the mother of all consciousness or intellect

There can be no room for reasonable doubt that the Self exists. However, 'we' - the ego cannot 'find' the Self. The most 'we' (as individuals) can do is to endeavour to create the environment in which the Self finds or rather reveals its Self. Paul

Yes your understanding is correct but the word you are using can be misleading. You should say the Self cannot be seen because it is the seer. The word " finder" you are using can also means to refer to the body, because the body-mind is searching the Self. The Self is not finding itself, it is just conscious of the ego finding the Self.

Are you enlightened, Swami Ji?. What does it feel like?. Vedantha differs totally from Siddhars' paths to enlightenment, I read. Each Guru is saying a different thing & showing a different path. Which one to choose & Which is the right one, pls?. Want to certainly experience SELF but don't know HOW!:-) MeenaC

Read Bhagavad Geeta, in the Sri Krishna taught three different paths. One who does karma(action) how he has to do in first 6 chapters. If one has devotion the next 6 chapters talked about bhakti. If one is inquisitive what is this creation where from it has come last 6 chapters talked about jnana. To choose the path you should consider your aptitude and your liking or inclination. All paths will lead you to the same thing.

There are various paths, for enlightenment. Each Guru will guide you, as per his / her experience. YOU need to be your own Guru, with the help of a right Guru.... ... only by seeking, you'll come across your guru & you'll move ahead in your journey, in the right manner.

Every word that you have written is trashy , get a life and succeed in that , don't go in for things you have no aptitude . Same as the Swami having absolutely no aptitude for either teaching or metaphysics . Don't think Advaita is not Metaphysics it is the same both in east and west , jingoistic Indians have a bad habit of being skewed in their understanding.

Vedanta shows us how the 4 yogas can help us become free of this person we think we are. It slowly thins out the mind which tied down, from coarse vasanas becomes subtler and purer over time. Pure not holy, that is another chain but more still. Less objective. As you read the messages from Vedanta become clearer. The very same texts will show a brilliance after some time...when the mind stills. The chief learning is that the truth is that the mind is false. As false as the dreams you will have tonight. But yet we use this very life and vedanta to learn this. A beginner whose mind is very conditioned (like me) would do well to read a good commentary on the Gita. This is karma yoga, the yoga of action and the yoga which us poor Jeevas trapped with "duties" would benefit from first and foremost. It teaches you to do but let go of what happens. This makes our every job in this world yoga if we are earnest. Good luck 👍🏽
