I'm a big fan of both Stapleton and Church, but this particular song is extraordinary and her vocal delivery is perfectly crafted for the lyrics, with just the right amount of pitching and phrasing to make an emotional connection. Like I said, this is the best country song I've heard in at least 15 years, and I would place it alongside the best from George Jones, Randy Travis, Keith Whitley, etc.

My daughter took me to the Dierks Bentley concert in Virginia Beach for my 70th birthday. I did not know Ashley McBryde was an opening act. I only knew her songs: One Night Standard, Martha Devine, and I never wanted to be that girl. When she performed "A Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega" I was caught like a deer in the headlights. Being a retired Army officer, I knew that US Army Ranger's mountain phase camp was there. So she had my attention. Then the lyrics, her beautiful voice, and the amazing band...it was a moment I will never forget. I have read about how they wrote the song and it means so much more to me now. I agree with others that her voice is pure country. Hints of Jodee Messina, Gretchen Wilson, and other greats. Been binge listening since Friday night. This young lady is the real deal, no reality TV show "idol" karoke singer here. She has earned this. I wish her many years of success. Can't wait to see her again, hopefully, headlining her own show.

My cousin is from Dahlonega; had no idea he ever existed up until a few years ago. We were planning to get together and last June he was visiting his mom and dropped dead in the kitchen. Not even 41 years old. Heard this song and I thought of him

.you have no idea just how real this song truly is..that video was filmed at a place called " Uncle Pete's" truck stop in Lebanon Tennessee...in 2007 my pregnant girlfriend and I broke down right there at Uncle Pete's in a very old motor home ..which was the only thing we owned and only place we had to live...we were from upstate New York ..800 miles away.and had no money to our names....we had lost everything and were homeless except for the motor home..(that was the worse day of my life) .thank God for Mr Pete...he let us stay right there on the truck parking lot for almost a year while we found work and tryed to save up money..he let us hook up to the utilities there so we would have heat and electric..the people of Lebanon TN are the best..they welcomed us and so many helped us get on our feet there...the camper parked in that truck lot was my son Nikki's first home...we put down NEW ROOTS right there in Lebanon....the worst day of my life turned out to be the beginning of the best years of my life...and if anybody doubts my story feel free to call Uncle Pete's..just ask for Pete ...by the way he holds the world record for the largest coffee cup collection they're all right there in the restaurant of the truck stop... You can ask him about us..he will tell you every word I said is the gosple truth...the first time I watched this video was also the first time I ever heard this song...I broke down in tears...

Just to set the record straight, the real little dive bar in Dahlonega is now Johnny B's even though a different bar started this song. Back in the day it was called Bo Regard's (we just called it Bo's), and it was the only bar in town. The stories that the ghosts in that space could tell. It is one of those situations where I could tell 25 stories and nobody would believe any of them unless you were there in the mid 80s. Like the Tuesday night Bruce Hornsby showed up unannounced. Turning the back area into a mash pit with 25 Army Rangers while the Violent Fems were playing. The night some drunk pulled a gun on the owners wife and left in an Ambulance 3/4 dead for doing so, Army Rangers got a hold of him. Thanks for bringing back some awesome memories Ashley McBryde!

This lovely little lady should be the only nominee for all things country. The rest are all pop artists.

We had CMT music playing on really low at work and I stopped talking and joking with my coworkers once I heard her voice. All four of us stopped and turned to the TV just to listen. Amazing
